Saw that on TWC......I sure hope those folks who were told to leave do just that....or did leave at this point. Scary stuff.
Are you OK?!
So far we are ok. Lots of tornado watches & warnings south of us. We are in the outer eastern side of the spin. So it rains & thunders, & blows some & then stops. Which is good because it lets things drain some. It's sitting about 40 miles off the coast. Power hasn't even flickered.

People in Rockport have been told that if they aren't gone by now they should write their name and social security number on their forearm to help the authorities identify the bodies.

Yep saw that, and if that isn't a statement of warning, then nothing could make them move.

After Monday the 28th, the lifetime senior US National Parks pass goes up to $90 ($80 plus $10 processing fee). Through the 28th, it's $20 ($10 plus $10 processing fee). For those 62 and over but it gets others who are with you in for free as well, regardless of age.

I figure if I use it one time I'm ahead of the game. Home - Your Pass Now

Janet and I only paid $10 cash at a National Park Entrance. We each have a card. I got mine years back at the Grand Canyon. She just go one on her trip to Glacier Park.

Holy crap! That should be a wake up call to get out of town.

Yes, well, I wasn't planning on driving to a National Park entrance within the next 3 days, so the extra $10 was worthwhile. The price increases by $70 effective Tuesday.

au contraire...the officials there are saying it's too dangerous to attempt to leave at this point...are urging those who stayed to stay where they are...not even first responders are to be out for the time being unless they receive a life and death emergency call.

So? I've been told I could jump off a building and get lost on the way down.

Yay!! Somebody who is worse than me!!! :) You and I would make a great pair traveling somewhere. We'd hit a rotary and keep driving in a circle until we ran out of gas! Of course I'd be laughing so hard I wouldn't care.

Some people are just too stubborn for their own good, but I did see where some people refused to leave during Katrina because their pets couldn't come too. Yep, I can see that would be a hard choice. Don't know that I could leave mine either. Still, if I refused to leave I wouldn't expect anyone to risk their life trying to save me.

My mother used to take me along whenever she was driving someplace unfamiliar, because she could rely on me to tell her the way back home...;) The last time I got lost I was 4 years old...little boy next door and I went for a walk around the block...only problem was.. we weren't sure if we were crossing an alley or a street, so didn't know where to turn. We just kept going straight......and ended up in downtown Ft. Worth, Texas...:?:

Thatvs the way it is here. If you are on the coast, in the direct path, in an area with limited ways out, or areas that can get cut off, & are told to evacuate, you can stay if you insist. But no one is going to come looking for you until things start to break up & drain. So write your info on your arm with a Sharpie, & put your id in a zip lock & put it in your pocket. Anything to id you if things go south. Look at all the issues with bodies after Katrina for example. Natives have been doing it for decades, but over a million new people have come to Houston since Ike.
They are extending tornado watches for another 30 minutes everytime one expires. So I'm sleeping with the tv on.

Just recall the old Route 66, east-west :)
There are 2 interstate highways that run through San Antonio. I-10 runs all the way through to Los Angeles in the west and to Jacksonville in the east. I-35 runs to Mexico in the south and to Lake Superior in the north.

So, wherever I am, I just remember those 2 highways.
