Did you forget to add the Citric acid? If so, you add 1/2 as much of that as you did Borax.
I did not forget the citric acid. The recipe was: 2 parts washing soda, 2 parts borax, 1 part citric acid and 1 part coarse Kosher
salt. Here's where I got the recipe:
Homemade Dishwasher Detergent (Soap) and Rinse Agent
If I'd never used the Cascade pods, I would never have had such high expectations. I have no wish to ever wander away from them again. I used Cascade Complete pods, but when I went to
buy more, the Cascade Ultimate pods were about the same price on Amazon as the Cascade Complete, so I got the Ultimate. Both of them work awesomely well.
When I've used up my bottle of Jet-Dry, I do hope that distilled white vinegar works just as well as a rinse agent, because it's SO much cheaper than Jet-Dry. On the other hand, if white vinegar turns out to be disappointing, I'll be happy to pay for another 16 oz bottle of Jet-Dry. My current bottle has lasted through about 100 cycles so far and there are still about 3 ounces left.
In other news: The Big Picture, 1989, Kevin Bacon, comedy. Totally delightful!
