Kim, I have to admit to never having been a uhuge fan of White Castle .. I am not among the Legions that will even go so far as having Freeze Dried cases shipped or demand their local Food Mart stock them in the freezer section if there is no WC within the area ..

I do, however, sometimes make an exception when those late night "cravings" hit hard, although I insist they remove the re-constituted dried onions .. ;)

UPDATE: Pennsylvania Vapor Tax Is Worse Than We Thought - Vaping360

"The state is also going after vapers, and penalties could include prison"
By Jim McDonald -July 18, 2016

Five years in prison?
It sounds like a bad joke, but it’s all too real. Pennsylvania vapers could go to prison for buying vapor products online and not paying a 40 percent tax on them. “The penalties for evading the tax include up to a $5,000 fine, or prison time not to exceed five years,” Alex Clark of CASAA told me in an e-mail. You read that right: you could go to jail for buying e-liquidonline and not sending a check to the state of Pennsylvania.

It’s even illegal to merely possess products bought in another state. Section 1207-A(a) of the law criminalizes the ownership of any vape device or e-liquid that wasn’t bought from a licensed Pennsylvania seller. So if you buy a mod on a trip to New Jersey or Ohio, merely having it in your possession will make you a criminal after October 1. As bad as the law seemed in our original article, it keeps getting worse.

You thought you found a way to quit smoking? Sorry, pay up or possibly go to prison.

Vapers who buy online are now importers
“The bill defines consumers as “unclassified importers’,” says Clark, who has taken a thorough look at the 257-page budget bill. That means that individuals who purchase any vapor product, including e-liquid, from a vendor that hasn’t already paid the tax would be responsible to pay the state, based on retail price.

In other words, anyone purchasing online or out of state would be responsible for paying 40 percent of the amount spent to the state of Pennsylvania.

Buyers will be required to file reports and make payments monthly — just like vape shops will have to do. So not only will shops be punished with a 40 percent tax on the cost of their merchandise, so will consumers.

Online sellers outside of Pennsylvania may choose to avoid complications and refuse to sell to Pennsylvania residents. And many PA businesses may opt to relocate — or close their operations altogether.

The floor tax clarified
Pennsylvania-State-Capitol.jpg

One of the most alarming aspects of this law is the “floor tax” it requires vendors to pay on existing stock. Not only will they have to pay 40 percent of wholesale cost on products purchased from distributors and manufacturers after the law goes into effect, they will have to pay the same amount on all existing inventory. The common understanding was that the tax would be due immediately.

The effective date of the tax, according to CASAA, is October 1, 2016. The floor tax is assessed on retailers’ onhand stock on that day. However, stores will then have 90 days to make the payment. The three-month grace period may allow some shop owners to find a way to afford it — although many may be unable to. However the tax is collected, the fact is that small businesses will be forced to hand the state cash amounting to 40 percent of the value of all merchandise in their stores, or shut their doors.

Additionally, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers must obtain licenses from the state in order to sell products in Pennsylvania. And retailers must purchase products from licensed distributors or wholesalers.

What can we do now?
Get-Involved.jpg

It’s hard to imagine a law that directly attacks vapers more brutally than this one. If you’re reading this, you should be telling everyone you know. If you live in Pennsylvania, you should be writing your state legislator, senator and governor. CASAA has just issued a call to action, and their site will automatically direct residents’ messages to the correct legislators.

PA RESIDENTS, PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW!

Tell them what vaping has done for you, and for the other vapers you know. Tell them you’re bitterly disappointed that your state did this, punishing people who have done nothing but find a way to quit smoking.

If you aren’t a CASAA member, please join right now. It’s free to join (though everyone should consider donating too), and every additional member makes the organization more impressive in the eyes of legislators and regulators.

If you’re not from Pennsylvania, explain to the vapers in your area that this can happen where they live too. Pennsylvania is the fifth largest state in the country. Other states will watch this and take cues from the public reaction. If vapers don’t get serious, get active, and fight back, they’ll assume we don’t care. We have to make it clear that we care."

Jim McDonald
I spend most of my time studying the regulatory, legislative and scientific challenges to vaping, advocating for our right to exist, and talking with others who do the same. Consider me a source for information, and feel free to agree or disagree with anything I say. I love good coffee and sweet Michigan cherries. My childhood hero was Gordie Howe.

Was it not called "Special Sauce" at some point .. ?? I know my sauce is special .. ;)

And what, no love for Steak 'n Shake .. ?? Maybe that's just a Fly Over Country thing .. or White Castle .. ?? ;)
I like a White Castle burger but I love a Krystal burger. When I was a kid we would stop late on Saturday night and get a dozen Kristals with cheese and a chicolate shake each. Damn good burger for a postage stamp size. We stop on our way to Florida every time.
Well we finally have our move date. POD wil be delivered on August 29th and we will leave for Florida sometime during the first week of September. Finally! Motorhome goes in the paper tomorrow and if it's nit sold by mid August we'll take it with us. :):thumb::banana:

Here's what I finished half an hour ago. It was my 3rd one of the day. Normally I'd have used 2 or 3 slices of tomato but I'm rationing it until I get to the grocery... hopefully today but ya never know. There is a bun bottom under the burger. Got to get bigger buns!

IIRC, Jack's was secret sauce. (Mostly 1000 island dressing? And, to continue in the same vein, must be grass skirts...)
Not around here, it was "Jack Sauce". Even in the local TV commercials. I always though it was hilarious.;)

A cheery good mornin' to all ya'all!

I've been remiss in welcoming kross8. HOWDY! Been meaning to say hello for days but never got a roundtoit. Glad you found the porches kross8! :)

And then there was the far behind the pack chain - In 'n Out Burger....
Do you remember the craze of taking the bumper stickers and cutting the "B" & the "r" off of Burger to create a bumper sticker that read, "In 'n Out urge"? :D

Is it just me, or does the "Colonel" at Gino's look either cross-eyed, or at the very least has a lazy-eye?
Well of course he does, Kazz. Why do you think he needed glasses???

Oh man, MikeE3! There is no way I can "like" this!!! @Uncle Willie , the government has been a band of robbers since the Civil War. One of the premises of becoming independent, I was taught, was taxation without representation but that seems to have gone by the wayside pretty quickly.

Was signed into law a few days back. Goes into effect Oct 1, 2016. PA vaping is doomed. Janet and I may be coming to you for our nic. Or maybe I just lay in a supply of what's available in Colorado while we're here.

Krystals used to have a slogan "Get the Happy Krystal Habit." That kind went out the window when crystal .... came around. I remember they had coffee stir spoons that had the slogan actually molded into the handle end. Did away with those when they started showing up in head shops molded out if sterling silver. ;)

A little history lesson: taxes in the US are not taxes without representation. No matter how much you abhor the tax, you are twisting the law beyond recognition to make such a claim.

We elect the people who enact the tax laws, as the Founding Fathers intended. That is taxation WITH representation.

Same for me too. I did get an email from my State representative about this being passed and he was careful to point out that he voted against it...

Here I was... going to help out my friend in Indiana by ordering for her and sending it on.....Now I have to worry about finding somebody in another state to do the same for me...:(

I remember from years back, when still living in SoCal, what I termed the summer of the burger chain wars. The various slogans always got me laughing.

Of course, the BIG mac, and the Whopper...
Wendy's slogan at the time was hot and juicy....
And Jack, in the box...

And then there was the far behind the pack chain - In 'n Out Burger....
When I was living in Iowa the convenience store on the corner was Kum & Go (in case you think I am kidding Kum & Go: Where & Means More )

As usual you are technically correct @bigbells and I knew that going in BUT there is also what Kazz said AND the fact that whether Kazz or I voted for these "jackwagons" (had to poach that one, Kazz :D ) only a portion of what they do as our "representatives" is the will of the people they are supposedly representing. A larger percentage, IMO, has to do with special interests, lining the coffers of government and their own pockets. We're drifting into political waters though so I'll shut up now..........

Anybody tried the Carl's Jr. Moonshine Burger? It looks pretty darned good. :)
