@Uncle Willie, I have always been meaning to get your take on this cat........

Personally, I luv him. The first time I saw him was on The Tonight Show during a Jay Walking segment. Jay was on the streets of Hollywood and Kid was just some joker walking by in a fur coat and red fedora. Jay asked, "Excuse me sir. (then kind of chuckled under his breath and said something about a pimp in a fur coat in the middle of the summer) Can I ask you some questions?" Kid said, "Sure." Jay asked, still giggling, "What's your name?" - "Kid!" - "Kid?" - "Ya, Kid!" - "Kid what?" - "Kid Rock and in about 5 years I'm gonna be famous and everybody's gonna know my name!" Jay laughed out loud at this point and then went on to ask him whatever it was. The joke was on Jay though. It was less than five years before everyone knew his name.

I think he's tremendously talented and thinks outside the box. Just curious what you thought, or anybody else for that matter.

Paulie, Kid Rock Rocks .. in fact, he's having his annual Fish Fry down in Nashville I believe in October .. same place I saw Dylan at a while back .. that Fish Fry in Nashville would be a great time for the next Odyssey .. next year, anyway .. and, you know, "All Summer Long" was rooted by "Werewolves of London" .. although Kid did pay for the rights ..

Very cool, Willie! I had a feeling you'd like him. I would SO love to see him live. "almost" got the chance when he was in Laughlin (08) but....... and in Memphis at the fish fry would totally be FAR OUT!

I really think it's cool how he mixed "Werewolves & Sweet Home" and then completely switched up the lyrics. I couldn't name the song off the top of my head but it was one of his earlier works and he played piano amazingly well. Definitely a NOT BS'er. This guy walks the walk. (IMO :D )

Funny you should mention that. I have a small group of old school friends that I occasionally get together with for karaoke parties in one of their garages. He's got a good sound system because he is pretty popular in this area as an Elvis impersonator. What was my point...Oh yeah, anyway, most of us are from the Class of 89, and so for whatever reason (well because it starts with the words "It was 1989" I suppose) this song is an automatic for all of us to sing. We always tend to imbibe a fair amount, and get a little crazy.

Brief side not, when three cops show up at a garage at midnight following a complaint of loud music, they apparently become quite confused when they are invited in for sandwiches by the half dozen forty somethings that are there.

So back to the crazy part, I started singing Werewolves of London one time during this song, and you'd think none of them had ever picked up on that. I always thought it was obvious.

I survive because I have wonderful friends who do support me, don't question my intelligence and actually think I am pretty smart.

    ... they always love me...

    Cathy, as do we!

I have a difficult time in understanding a mate's reluctance and obstructions re vaping vs. smoking. There should be joy and celebrations...

I'm beyond fortunate in finding my bride and, all too much later on, vaping. That's not counting these wonderful porchers! Where are the celebrations and joy?!?!?

It's not worth arguing with him. He's a former smoker btw. When did the little brat become so sanctimonious? Very sad.

    Jealousy is an ugly wart.

.. vape.. pet cat on lap. ahh, much better.

Ummm, I'll venture a guess dat ya didn't name your feline after him...

BTW - if anyone gives you a Roomba, you won't be able to thank them enough. My sister got one and knows my schedule so she surprised me and a box showed up on my doorstep. OMG. My house is getting clean as I type! LOL!

Bought one of da first, kinda OK. But have heard dat it's been greatly improved. Might have to gift myself.

Well, a case could be made, depending on the "display" you might have in mind ..
... even bugs me on a victory lap when some Olympic athletes (speed skaters come to mind) drape it over their shoulders like a shawl.

Gotta luv da personal divergences in flag appreciation! As Garrie sed, az loung az a reel phag izn't youzed...

TBH, I cherish when our Olympic athletes can envelop themselves with the Stars and Bars post victory!

ETA: At last, an enticing and drool evoking food pic!

And yepper, I'm up pher a Nashville Phish Phry Odyssey!!!

I did many flag presentation ceremonies for the families of veterans whom are no longer with us. I also did many flag ceremonies at Reveille and Taps, and actually enjoyed each and every time that I was allowed to handle our colors with honor and respect.

Just a little further flag trivia:

Have you ever wondered why the Flag of the United States of America is folded 13 times when it is lowered or when it is folded and handed to the next of kin at the burial of a veteran?

Here is the meaning of each of those folds and what it means:

The first fold of our Flag is a symbol of life.

The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.

The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

The fourth fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance.

The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in dealing with other countries may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong."

The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

The seventh fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our Republic.

The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother's Day.

The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood; for it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

The tenth fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since they were first born.

The eleventh fold, in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.

The thirteenth fold: When the Flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our Nation's motto, "In God We Trust." After the Flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for us the rights, privileges, and freedoms we enjoy today.

The next time you see a Flag ceremony honoring someone that has served our country, either in the Armed Forces or in our civilian services such as the Police Force or Fire Department, keep in mind all the important reasons behind each and every movement. They have paid the ultimate sacrifice for all of us by honoring our Flag and our Country.

Thanks for the post Kaz. I knew each fold had a meaning but it's been a long-long time since I've seen their descriptions. :thumb:

Back in the late 1960's, when the film "Easy Rider" came out, I remember a great outcry over Peter Fonda having an American Flag sewn on the back of his jacket, as well as his chopper having a Flag motif .. today, I see flag related goods on about anything you can think of, I saw a young woman over the 4th of July weekend with one sewed on her pants derrière .. although it was a nice derrière .. ;) .. I guess, as a Vet, I have mixed feelings about Societal adoption of the Flag as a fashion statement .. it's just one of those things, you really can't do much of anything about it .. I don't want to get into a row with anyone, although, the Flag Derrière could have been a nice talking point .. ;)

At any rate, Matt posting his Cat PIC yesterday made me almost want a cat, almost .. if I could find a cat that really looked already like a Lion, and then get the "Lion Cat Haircut", hmmmm .. no, .. however, it was a Great Meme Pic, so I will remember Matt's Cat digitally .. feel free to use these on your Various Social Media if you like .. I am working on one with a comb over, but I need a new cat pic for that .. ;)

My general food routine is :: I'll take something out or go to an Eatery once or twice a week .. many times, I try and make something that I can "recycle" into something else for a few days, one of my favorites being Chili .. the first day, it's Chili, usually over a handful of Fritos with some cheese on top .. the next day, it's Chili with some sort of noodles or rice .. the third day it's maybe a Chili Omelette .. by the forth day, who knows if I can stand it at all .. ;) .. I'll still likely eat it though, because I hate wasting food .. if all the food we waste could be put to good use, no one would go hungry ..

So, I was quite proud of myself yesterday for deciding to make Taco Salads .. I made two, the bowls shaped by one of those Kits you can get at the Grocer where the tortilla is draped over a cardboard form and then baked .. I don't really like to eat the bowl, although I will nibble on it some .. yes, those are my legs sticking out as I was sitting in the recliner getting ready to nosh .. there is just no real purpose for me to sit at my dining room table, although I have one .. Classic Homemade Margarita on the end table next to be within easy reach, 12 ounce tumbler size, thank you .. with 3 Queen Olives and a tiny splash of Olive Juice .. ;)

For Mike and Janet .. you are Golden .. :) cheers ..

Nice mime's UW and thanks for the Linda.

That'd certainly make me "stand up" for the ol' red, white & blue! ;)

And you didn't even have to get our of your chair. :D

Popping a Fresh Pack against my palm to tamp it down, ritually removing the plastic band and folding back the hard pack flap, removing a fresh cig, placing it on my lips and flipping that Zippo, taking in a nice big puff .. exhale and sigh .. especially after a good meal and a cocktail .. or whatever .. :)

    Stop, just stop teasing. :-x

Alaska doesn't have the Lotto but we do have this crazy thing called the Nenana (ha, ha, spellcheck doesn't know what to do with that!) Ice classic. A tripod is placed in the middle of the Nenana River ice in late winter and anyone is welcome to guess the time the tripod will trip the wire connected to the timer, in the Spring, when the ice "goes out". I think it's $3 a pop now, used to be two but some folks have been lucky enough to hit it right on the minute and win big bucks. Of course they buy HUGE blocks of time to accomplish that but the return is still good if you don't miss by much or over do your time block purchasing. ;)

The point being, I wanna go to a full boat fish fry with music and dancing too! I need to win sumthin' - dang it!!!

I think you're pretty smart too .. :) .. and I'm smart enough to not weigh in, having gone thru 4 wives .. I will say this :: I wish I could quit all forms of nicotine intake, but I know, in my case, if all the nic somehow got transported magically to Planet Zod, including my "stash", I'd be one tank away from a pack of Marlboros .. you'll never see me in the camp of the Cig Haters, in fact, some time back, as I sat at a Video Poker machine at a Casino, I found myself unconsciously tilting my head/nose toward that Lady next to me with a smoke dangling off her lip ..

Point being, if a PV can get the Monkey Off Your Back, who's to argue with that .. ?? I still carry a Zippo, just in case .. ;)

miss it .. ?? You bet .. Five + years is a long time off, but it's still not long enough .. in my case, anyway ..

Thank you everyone for the support. I love you all! (y'all sounds too insincere).

I quoted Willie because after his (EDIT my hubby) weeks of struggle he did succeed, albeit at the cost of some of my nerves. I, on the other hand, found vaping and never looked back. No craving, no bad moods, I just quit. I did try a puff or two that first year, but one puff was enough. Yeck. Hubby started to give me a hard time at one point but I told him I would have thought he would be glad I finally beat the cigarettes, not berating me for my method. He now sees other vapers at dog shows and around. I talk to them and they all echo vapings praises. So no more hassles on that front. Granted, he does not know what I have spent, but I have kept a spreadsheet since almost day 1 and I can guarantee it is much less than I would have spent on cigarettes and smoking related illness.

I don't hate smokers, heck I was one for 40+ years. I only wish more had/have the opportunity we have had and vaping would be praised and promoted, not demonized.

Yep an injury is a hard thing to come back from but I've found that during the comeback it seems like it takes forever but after you just kind of forget and it seems like it just took a moment.

Thanks Legs...I need to remember that!

I may be heading to a hip replacement. Had a talk with a friend last night about getting adequate exercise without aggravating it too much.

The more people who vote Green or Libertarian this go around, the stronger the message will be that our two parties are way off-base.

Meniere....I was set up with various "gentle" exercises weeks before the hip surgery to help strengthen my leg muscles. I'm sure that'll be the same with you if you need this surgery...which i hope that you don't.

Much nicer. Not matted and his longer fur was just a luttle course. Now he is fuzzy and soft. Not only does he feel better to pet but, he really seems to feel better. I know he wants a lit more attention. Never since he was a kitten didbhe want belly rubs, now he does. Those mattes must of hurt.

High five for the happy kittycat!

Would be nice if I didn't. Maybe with continued exercise the pain will go away. I have been walking eight blocks to church regularly. She said that is too much, especially without a cane. I usually get a ride back home.
