My FT order is supposed to ship the 12th so we'll see how it manages to get through.

I've got a few small FT orders pending, as well. One just shipped, and is at the sorting facility in China... I'll keep an eye on it and let ya know if it comes through or not.

My 92 Honda Civic VX which they only made that model for 2 years I think got 52 mpg of the showroom floor. It has 170,000 miles on it still gets 45. IDK why they stopped making it, it was specifically designed for mpg, has 110hp really high geared only weight 1900lbs. Everything is designed for mpg the engine was a specially designed VTEC and would stop getting fuel to some of the valves or something when at cruising speed. 70mph in 5th turns about 1800rpm.

In the '70s, a friend and I went from Albany GA to Braselton GA (NE of Atlanta) for a Road Atlanta weekend, to watch the Camel GT race... in his basic Honda Civic. We calc'd the gas mileage for the trip and, as you said, it was well over 50mpg - in the '70s! I was floored. My '69 Grand Prix was a gas guzzler, but of course gas was only 36-38 cents/gal... I could fill 'er up for $7 and change.

And back then, I figured surely by the turn of the century ALL cars would get well over 50... wonder what happened?

My FT order is supposed to ship the 12th so we'll see how it manages to get through.

Yessir, that'll be interesting to find out. I have stuff in my FT cart, and still plan to order it. As an aside, I see a burgeoning black market in the cards.

Yeah. Agreed. Here too. BUT miniscule engine as well, therefore... teeny car. Not that bigger is better... (well, IMHO, yeah. It is!) but point being, would no emissions make any difference if mileage came up without it?

Well many a year back a few friends rebuilt an engine - when we were finished we had seven parts left over  - figured out that they were emission control parts - oh well - the car had increased horsepower, increased pickup, and increased gas mileage... And it still passed the state emission test.o_O So what was the purpose?

Yet Car Talk and Auto websites too numerous to count dole out advice on safety and known issues 24 / 7 .. I don't know if I understand what you're saying .. ??

I think I see a little paranoia here. I don't know anyone on the porches that would take advice given too seriously let alone sue becauae of it. I could be wrong but, I don't think so. ;):)

12:20 something AST.... Afternoon everyone!

@MattB101 Our hearts are with you, Brother! Safe travels and positive thoughts. :thumb:

@Kenna Again, not being there this is just spit ballin' BUT, we happen to drive a '98 GMC 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton P.U. so same chassis, etc., etc. and GM did have an issue with the size of a relief hole in a restricting plate in the power steering system that causes the exact issue you are describing and also the same issue our P.U. suffered from after 100K plus miles. The steering nearly locks after you've turned to the right. Very scary on a sharply curved to the right on ramp to a freeway! At any rate, the fix is relatively inexpensive since they just replace the too small restrictor plate with a larger one. Again, this is only a guess though. ;) You would definitely do well to have the entire front end inspected, aligned and repaired as necessary, especially with over 100K on the vehicle. ;) (*I do ALL of our own maintenance on this vehicle and we're over 227K. Knock on wood! :D)

For clarity, my original concern was that if she were in an accident caused by her car problems, and someone else was hurt, that people on the porches were creating an evidence trail that could be used to prove she knew of the problem. It wasn't people on the porches I was worried about. But it's a non issue. See my post from this morning.:)

Oh Matt, I am so sorry! Be careful driving, the weather is horrible on this side of the state. Where you are going may not be bad, but drive safe.

On a happy note, the picture came today! Geordi's first point!! He wasn't too pleased getting on the platform, thus the tucked tail, but he's going to be stunning when he grows up!! (yea, that's the judge and me behind him, with a fake background...)

Please keep Doree and I in your prayers and I will let you all know we have arrived safely. Damn move ain't never going to happen!

    On their way, Matt!

Awesome! Does it make the steering loose, too? That would be wonderful! I'd love to get it all running so I could take some trips! I'm tired of being stuck ay home. I drive my mother's car ( that is really my sister's but she got it for Mom to drive, but she stopped driving 4 years ago...) when I have to go anywhere. I have to use it to run errands for her & get mine done while I'm out. When I use just for me she gets pissy about it, & I don't need that. Besides I hate that little Neon...but I LOVE my truck!

So you guys ordered 'small electrical parts' from China too. Just got another package from China marked that way. Although an RBA is 'closer' to an electrical part than it is a tobacco product. :-x

@Kenna, I wouldn't say it makes the steering "loose" but it does make it work properly. The issue started showing up after there were at least 50K on the vehicles (Truck Chassis) and the fluid had gotten gunked up from use. That gunk further restricted the restriction plate and the steering would lock up in & after right turns so I'm "assuming" that it is on the return line side of the system. The dealer we got our truck from was a close personal friend and when I mentioned the issue to him, he said, oh ya, there have been "some" complaints about that, just bring it in and we'll fix it for ya, no charge." He left me with the impression that it was a cheap and easy fix but that may or may not be the case for you. I honestly don't know for sure. I did want to mention it though as another possible thing to look at. Not many people or mechanics are aware of that issue, especially since these vehicles are nearly 20 years old now and will soon be eligible for "antique" plates in many states.

BTW, is it just me & clnire or is there "something more" :sneaky: going on with ECF today??? It's being a HUGE PITA for me. :-x
