Re led bulbs - wasn't there a problem up north when they changed all the stop lights to led and in winter they filled with snow so they couldn't be seen because they don't put off enough heat?

Yup - 1st generation technology problems. :facepalm: You can actually buy them as surplus. They must have put a heating wire in the cover lens - same as a rear window defroster - to fix the problem. Or something like that.

Very much not the same thing as a home light bulb though. Light is waaaaayyy up there and the power supply for it is waaaay down here on the ground - where any heat the power source generates isn't gonna help.

That's a bit of a misconception. The LED's don't generate much heat - but the 120 volt to approximately 3.5 volt power supply conversion does. In the flat lollipop style Philips bulbs the completely flat center portion contains a solid sheet of metal between the plastic, acting as a heat sink and that area does get rather hot to the touch.

Philips has at least 3 different styles of 60 watt equivalent, standard A19 base LED bulbs. The ones currently selling for $4 a piece on Amazon (maximum allowed purchase of 3) are too new to yet be included in Consumer Reports' ongoing light bulb testing program. The shape is close to that of a conventional incandescent bulb.

Gary (or anyone else looking for a new dishwasher);
Consumer Reports lists this Bosch dishwasher model as a Best buy, for $540:
Sears.com
Speaking of dishwasher cycle times, the Bosch we bought takes almost three hours to wash a load of dishes with a couple of custom settings selected. However, it's the quietest dishwasher I have ever seen. Standing next to it you can barely hear it running. Step away from it and you wouldn't know it was on if it didn't have a few LEDs lit up.

Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime. I can't wait for summertime!

That's why I DETEST satellite. Yet I'm stuck with it. And... we have cable too. But the cable co. doesn't carry Turner classic movies. Which is on 98% of the time. :( I'd LOVE to chop up the satellite.

ROKU has all the classic movies you could ever want... A a lot you probably wouldn't touch with a 30' pole. ;)

"Away to my window I flew like a flash ,opened the shutters and threw up the stash,....And what to my wondering eyes should appear? A whole bunch of porch'rs rambling here"

"I an stuck on bandaids , cause bandaids stick on she" "Chicken,Good" "They need...5 more Minutes" Now if I could get a hold of the exploding phone for telemarketers.

I'll join the wounded finger brigade, I caught mine between the seating die and bullet case. Now I got a crescent shaped divot in the tip of my finger.

Never tried Roku, but both Intel and Apple are coming out with a HDMI type device that will turn any HD TV into a Basic Computer. It will be about the same as a Chrome Book now is - good for surfing the internet and using the cloud, but not for local storage needs - even though the Intel version does have a small hard drive and the ability for external hookups.

3 large fried eggs, yolks smushed, generous cinnamon, ginger and cardamom, over well, whole wheat toast spritzed with extra virgin olive oil. Other sides (not pictured): coffee in mug, tequila and chocolate vodka in glass. Go Duke Blue Devils!... Oh wait, they won it already. Go NY Yankees! Go Tiger!

Speaking again of the high price of automatic dishwashers: you could certainly do worse, and spend a whole lot more, than this $298 Frigidaire: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Frigidai...0090-2&cm_mmc=CJ-_-1319015-_-10368321&cj=true

Not among the CR "recommended" dishwasher models but CR doesn't really have anything bad to say about it. And, Matt, it has heated drying.

If it were me, I would DEFINITELY purchase an after-market 5-year SquareTrade Warranty for an additional $78. It would give peace of mind. I don't have much confidence in the longevity of anything made by Frigidaire.
