Going to bed now, just took a short nap earlier. Did he use one of those giant spade digger machines to take em out? Saw them on TV a while back. Got three giant shovel shaped blades that dig out the whole root ball in one operation.

Yep - that's what he used. Pretty slick operation. It cut a root ball about 4 feet accros the top diameter and about 4+ feet deep. Just a big cone shaped hole was left when the tree was taken out. And he used the same piece of equipment to cut and bring 'plugs' that were put back in the holes that basically fit perfectly. There was very little settling of the 'filled' hole because it was a solid junk of earth put back in.

Jeez! If it's stress related in any form you can pretty much guarantee that I'm going to get it . not exactly leading a stress free life these days. I thought retirement was supposed to be stress free!

Stress free is sometimes as stressful as you make it. I get it though, bi projects need to get done!

I'll add a note on Shingles .. for what it's worth .. my DR told me the hype to get the shot is overblown .. of course, if you actually get Shingles, you'll not think the shot overblown .. .. my neighbor got shingles at 75 and it was quite a struggle .. 60 and above is the recommended age ..
And, Janet .. I've taken a Beta Blocker for blood pressure control and heart regulation for many years ..

Yeah, my doc pretty much said the same thing to me (about the shingles shot) and then left it up to me if I wanted the shot. He said they don't even keep any of the vaccine at the office.

I've been impressed with how well the beta blocker is working! Now if I could just get off the blood thinner. Doc was really torn about whether to keep me on it since I don't have much of a CHADS score for needing it. So, looks like another 3 months, another halter monitor and we'll reevaluate. Sigh.

Just peeping in to say "Hello". I'm so far behind that I've had to mark everything read. I'll never catch up. With no internet access at work, and only a limited time to get here after work, I just haven't been around. It's been monsooning down here like no tomorrow, so not a lot of flight going on. I forgot my books at home, BUT, I have been coloring. As for the new forum...............I'll have to learn all of this stuff when I get home. I just don't have the time to do it now. One more night, and I'm going home. I'm tired from doing nothing. Hope to see y'all later!!

Yeah, I know. I'm trying to catch up and every time I get near the bottom of the page I see there's a few more pages to read!! Sorry you got stuck and couldn't go home early, but isn't it nice to know you're needed? Glad you were able to figure out how to drop in and hope you get to go home soon!

Reading about all this food (love me some blackened fish!), I am in the mood for Peach bread French Toast. Those that travel I95 in Georgia, there is a place (2 actually, one on each side of the interstate) at exit 58. They sell the most delectable Peach Bread! And Cinnamon Pecan Bread, and Strawberry Bread. We have tried making it and get close, but not quite like this bread. Makes a grand French Toast with a little real maple syrup. Or just toasted with a little cream cheese.... Now I am making myself hungry!
:w00t::facepalm:

Oooh, sounds delicious! Have you tried cream cheese mixed with some real maple syrup added to taste? Yummmm!

I think it was Roto who was talking about coloring books for adults. I found this site for printing your own pages if anyone is interested.

Free Printable Adult Coloring Pages - Flower Coloring Pages

Free is fantastic! And there's quite a selection!

Imagine that in a pic - me in canary yellow, Matt in lime green, Will in baby blue, Iffy in orange, and Mike in purple.

Ooops gotta add Gary - he's got one too...

Oh man, wouldn't that be a picture!

That made me laugh. Dude got married in a leisure suit. I was wearing a light blue mini dress. I tell my kids if they ever get too full of themselves, just remember their parents got married in polyester. They cannot believe the things we wore in the '70's.

When my kids teased us about what we used to wear I told them just wait, in a few years I'll be able to tease you about wearing men's underwear with the top rolled down! And the guys with the pants down around their butts!! Sheesh!

Glad you're enjoying your grandson,Mike:) I just don't have the energy for children that I used to have....LOL

Mike and I were both amazed at how tired we were after having him just for the day and I wondered how I ever did it when we had 2!

It was a beautiful day here as well Mike. However most of my work was indoors. Got the backsplash in the kitchen sealed and the outlets replaced and reinstalled in the walls. To top it all off, Doree found out what went bang in the night last night. The kid was moving the last of her stuff out of her room and apparently didn't close the window properly when she left and the wind blew it open. Broke out of the frame at the top where you release the clips for cleaning. Found it smashed this evening with glass all over the floor. Going to have to take it to the glass shop tomorrow and see if it can be repaired. It's a dual pain low e glass and this model hasn't been, are in 20 years. I don't know what I'm going to do if they can't fix it. :-x

Oh geese, sorry to hear that! Sure hope this turns out to be a minor setback.

A girl in our parish was in an accident, head injuries, and today her heart stopped-- they had trouble bringing her back. They are talking about organ donation. All your prayers are appreciated.

Definitely got the prayers coming. So sorry to hear about a tragedy like that, especially in a young person.

I started counting backwards at 50. I turn 30 this year. ;)
No, he's going to be 69 this year. He's 3 years older than me and I'm going to be 66 in October so he's not going to hit the 70 till next year. He's either confused or he's trying to make me a year older!

I'm exhausted trying to keep up here. It was surprising to see all the one's I'd marked to post and I was trying not to mark too many. Sometimes it's impossible to remember what I wanted to reply. Off to bed now. We have Miles tomorrow so we have to rest up!

I took it off, but if I can recall....click other, then custom color. There is a box with a color code, click that and it will pull up a color spectrum, choose the one you want, you'll see a preview of it, then click save. I took it off, cuz it made all web pages that color scheme, and messed up a few other things.
I ran into the same thing & took it off.

Evening Iffy! We have a slow rain here tonight and I think it's going to be a great sleeping night...

We had a good 'un Tuesday and a lil' un' yesterday. Today has been an autumn type experience. Wish we could bottle sum of it fer da dogs days o' summer!

We badly need rain, and were supposed to get some tonight but it fizzled out. This isn't an area where we usually get fire weather warnings and red flag days, but for most of April that's what it's been. No forest fires (you have to have trees for those) but lots of grass fires.

I put our 2 feeders out about 2 weeks ago and this week they showed up. Looks like at least 2 pair. Wonder if they're the same ones I fed last year. I don't know if they come back to nest in the same place or not. Sure are pretty and fascinating to watch!

I've still got a couple of weeks to go before the humming birds get here. After all the migrating ones last fall I'm curious to see if they'll stop by on their way again.

But I'll lose some entertainment value when I put the hummingbird feeder up, since I'll be taking down a mesh sunflower feeder that doesn't' interest the birds much, but has become a squirrel gymnastics show. It's on a pole with multiple feeders and doohickeys, including a pretty much useless 6" plastic bird bath that goes into a horizontal ring. So the squirrels have been hanging upside down from the ring and kind of stretching sideways to pull the sunflowers out one at a time. They've been keeping me and the cats entertained for weeks.

I may try hanging it from a tree branch and see how they figure out a way to get at it there, though I might see if corn would work in it and be a little cheaper than the sunflowers. It's supposed to be a squirrel proof feeder, too.

aarrgghh!! I just tried using an ECF bookmark and forgot they're not working.

Anyone keeping up on the forum changes? Have you heard anything about when/if old bookmarks will work again?

What kind of bookmark Mike? Forum, Subforum, specific post, blog?

The URL redirects to forums and subforums should be working. But it's a good idea to update those old bookmark URL's as you go along anyway as they are different now.

Redirects for bookmarks to specific posts and blogs aren't working yet. The indexing structure is very different between VB and Xenforo and getting those redirects to work right is a lot more complicated.

What they are working on...? A few days Mike Pietro suggested putting up a punch list so we would know what they are aware of, what they are working on - like what's got priority status and what doesn't - and people wouldn't keep posting the same issues and questions again and again. Makes sense to me. The response was rather "odd": "Why would we do that? As soon as we made the list we would probably have to change it?"

So apparently wasting time replying to redundant questions in the Xenforo Tips & Tricks forum is high on the non-list right now. :nah:

So how are you guys liking the new software. Myself the only problem I have is I forget all the time when going to watched threads remembering to right click and open in a new tab. I always left click and replace the tab I am in otherwise seems ok to me.

That isn't the first complaint I have seen that 'click-on' stuff doesn't open in a new tab or window as it did with the old software.

The other problem I have is if I have a thread open I get an email everytime someone posts in it

That comes down to needing to visit your Preference settings.

Hover over your name at the top right until that pop up box shows with... a bunch of crap. Select Preferences from the left column. Uncheck (probably) all of the "and receive email notifications" tick boxes you see there.

My biggest "don't like" right now is there is nothing similar to the former What's New? > My Posts option. Yeah, yeah - they say use the Your Content thing but it doesn't display the same and doesn't indicate if there have been new posts in the thread or not as it used to. Not much point in revisiting a thread that has had no further replies - now you can't tell.

The thing that seems to be tiresome is the same complaint I had about the new skin they came up with for the old forum software - too much empty space. For me that turns into eye strain, scanning the voids for the content. It seems that even though there is a fixed 20 post limit per page, damn it's like scrolling for ages to complete one page of posts.

So Semi-, what's the current projection on when we'll need a new back porch. Been pretty active here the last couple-few days.

Mike, right now I don't even know if that 15k limit will still apply with the new software. Although any way you cut it there doesn't seem to be a good reason to keep threads open for 30,000 or more posts. Another question that needs to be asked.

I've been waiting for the hummers. Put out one feeder a few days ago but haven't seen one yet. They came so early last year and now they're late.

Its been weird at the feeders here so far. Spotted a sole Blue Jay a couple days ago and yesterday morning a very skittish male Cardinal but that's been it for interesting birds this spring.*

*Well, it's been said that we really don't have a spring here in New England. Spring for us is something like 18 hours that occurs on a random day somewhere between Winter and Summer.

Still hitting the low 40's overnight here. Fran I take it temps aren't any better further north?

Holy Cow, 10 grand for a tree?? Those are really pretty, but dang. Matt, y'all gonna dig it up and take it with ya? Or let it add value to the house?
It's huge Deb. You couldn't move it with anything less than a flatbed semi. I'll post a pic in the morning.
