I've been waiting for the hummers. Put out one feeder a few days ago but haven't seen one yet. They came so early last year and now they're late.
I had a friend who had thought hummingbirds were a myth, like unicorns. She was so amazed when she found out the were real! They were always magical to her.

When I happened upon a beautiful coffee table book full of beautiful hummingbird photographs, I couldn't resist buying it for her. I'm sure she still cherishes that book, even if she can't remember who gave it to her after all these years.

Good luck with window. We had to replace a couple that had lost their gas seal between the panes. (Condensation was actually settling in between the panes of glass.) Since the window manufacturer couldn't be identified we had to replace the whole schmoo - frames and all.

Matt it's still there, but like several options it's been reduced to a micro sized thing.

In this case you are looking for a teeny tiny up arrow ↑ after the OP's name of the quoted post. (Like right here where it says: MattB101 said ↑ ) Click on the tiny up arrow - the hover over for it is all of about 5 pixels wide (Sigh...) so it can take some determination to find the hover over spot.
Thanks I see it. Your looking on a monitor I assume and it's small. I'm using g a 7" tablet and it's TINY!

All this hummer talk... no one has a hummingbird vine?
Trumpet flower, at least that was my mom called em. We had a whole row of them along the fence between us and the neighbors (in Daytona Beach). It was alive with hummingbirds. And yes it's a vine. Underneath was a bunch of sleeping hibiscus bushes. Sleeping hib8scus has lots of flowers that look like the big flower that hasn't opened for the day yet, cept they never open. Tons of nectar and the HB love em too. Mom would cut back the Trumpet flower enough to prevent it from killing the sleeping hibiscus.

May not be on much this weekend. I'll be house & pup sitting for my sister. Her Buldog has issues with having my laptop in my lap instead of him. He's so funny. I'll post pics if I can!
hope you can get on, if not enjoy! Is this the one that also has the Golden?

This isn't an area where we usually get fire weather warnings and red flag days, but for most of April that's what it's been. No forest fires (you have to have trees for those) but lots of grass fires.
Don't y'all get a lot of snow? I would have thought all the snow etc would keep y'all quite moist. That's interesting.

I may try hanging it from a tree branch
I sure read this wrong......thought at first it said...... I may try hanging from a tree. lol I've often thought if someone could just pick me up by my head and let me dangle, I'd feel so much better. Don't think I could handle that inversion stuff.

That isn't the first complaint I have seen that 'click-on' stuff doesn't open in a new tab or window as it did with the old software.
Newp, but this is a big priority with Retired1, he HATES it when they don't open in a new window. Some do, some don't.

girls to wear big ol' flannel shirts over their tops with jeans.

Jup, this was my uniform for a long time beginning in 8th grade, but I didn't have anyone to swipe flannel shirts from. Had to get my own.

Also known as a trumpet vine
I had checked into those once, but down here especially folks said they also attracted a lotta bees, so that nixed that.

I love this little pooch.

that was awesome if it was for real, and it would seem to be, just having a hard time wrapping my head around that, that it wasn't a gag.

Hiya Willie, kick off yur shoes and stay awhile!

Deb I have to speak up for inversion. Once you get over the fear/uncomfortable feeling it's amazing. Takes all the pressure off your nerves. A lot of pain is caused by squeezing the nerves where they pass through the vertebrae from the spinal cord to the other organs/muscles. A lot of leg/knee pain is caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve. Inversion therapy helps, not cures, helps with that. After we move I think there is a Teeter Hang Up (sic) in my future. They're expensive but, like any other exercise home therapy stuff you can find them on line all over the place. As usual YMMV.

Actually, the inversion tables are really low impact. And most have straps you can adjust so you don't have to go completely upside down. Going to 45 or even 60 degrees inverted does a lot to loosen the spine.

And just what's wrong with bees? Heck, without 'em, we either won't have any food, or we'll be looking for a lot of people with cotton swabs!

Bees and a hummingbird share the same diet so they sorta go together hand in hand, nectar (sugar water) is an energy concentrate food. Hummingbirds and bees both burn a hell of a lot of energy flying. Both species can do some amazing acrobatic flying however, both are also about as aerodynamic as a brick.

Nuttin wrong with bees, just don't want a swarm of em in my yard. Particularly when my son was young which is when I was lookin at em. If I had room to put it far enough away from the house, to still be able to see it, but yet, not have the bees right up on us, that might be different.

That's good to know that you can set it to not go all the way down. I expect it would help a lot.

As a daughter of a beekeeper, I heartily agree! When you don't disturb them, they won't bother you. Just don't go barefoot in a field of clover.

Now the problem with that is...... my idea of disturbing them, and THEY'RE idea of disturbing them, are two entirely different things!! I've been stung by a lotta bees and wasps, that I didn't even know were there til the buzzards stung me!!

There are the Africanized bees down there-- I hear they are vicious. As are wasps. But generally you would be safe with the trumpet-vine, because the blooms are up high.

OTOH, people who fear bees are more likely to get stung. Can Bees Smell Fear?
Beekeepers are not afraid, so they don't get stung that often.

I've been talking about keeping bees after the move. Doree feels about the same about it as you do. Great in some farmer's field, not so great in the backyard.
Also thinking about chickens but, I think the Abby Dog might have something to say about that one. Of course Doree ain't thrilled with that either, spoilsport!

I'm pretty sure that "Africanized" bees are quite a bit over hyped. Haven't read hardly anything about them lately either.

Not a gag. He somehow trained the dog to open its mouth on cue. Amazing training!
