heh - wish that was the case, but here it is and my schedule says It's time to be up, and I'm up. and then some of my friends wonder why I sleep so much on the weekend...

I do similar... when someone tries to ZOOM around me, I speed up JUST enough that they get blocked by the car in the next lane. I don't slam on the breaks for the light, just cruise in the mirror view of the car in the other lane that the person is trying to squeeze around.
Yeah, I'm mean.

RE: dear... not the placid, timid things they are made out to be...
Field Cameras Catch Deer Eating Birds

and this morning, I had a great sight of the changing of the guard in PA. thanks to whoever posted this link before
Wildlife
Images courtesy of Pennsylvania Game Commission (had to put that in because they said to)

Janet always loved the chipmunks around our place 'till she saw one eating the head of a bird. It was useless but she 'flew' through the front door in vane yelling at that little critter.

Nice eagle pic's - I forgot I posted that link - need to pay more attention to it.

SB 5573 and HB 1645 are currently considered "dead" for the session as they were not able to make it out of committee.

Nice! Nice to win a battle even though the war is still on.

hiya folks :)

Welcome to the porch Sterno. So where ya been hanging out the last 5 years here on ECF.

Rise and shine! Another pretty day. Time for me to prepare to greet it.

Glad y'all got that deer thing straightened out, last night. I'd a hated to be playin' "Where's Wally" all day!
I only saw 5 deer, and that was 5 too many. Deer show up and my flowers disappear!

Fixed that for you. We've literally lost hundreds of trees and plants to deer. After they developed around 300 acres of land bordering our place it's gotten so bad, Janet's stopped her spring flower planting. They youngin's are 'cute' though.

Good Morning Everyone...

Welcome Sterno - hope you found a comfortable seat...

I missed the Deer Chat also - just lucky I guess - just proves you never know what topic will pop up on this thread.

Yep - it would be nice if Willie graced up with a few tunes... and his insightful writing skills...

    Question of the day -

When you are approaching a red light - why do people pass you and then cut back in front of you - just to stop at the red light? I have never figured it out, but it is happening to me more and more...

You forgot the part about the person behind the wheel having the seat tilted back so far it makes you wonder if there is anyone in the car .. while they eat a McMuffin, fix their hair, answer a text and have their sound system tuned to deliver the lowest possible bass as their muffler rattles off at the next light ..

And where's Torey and Willie? Did they go off and get a room? ;)

Yeah, well, you know, "What Happens in Seattle Stays in Seattle" .. ;) .. and anyway, she's a Married Woman and I'm, er, a Gentleman .. ?? :)

I thought it might be a good idea to get back on the thread since it looks like within the next 10 minutes, we'll need Part Four .. ;)

The absolute classic intro lyrics always hit home with me ..

I used to hurry a lot, I used to worry a lot
I used to stay out till the break of day
    Oh, that didn't get it,
It was high time I quit it
I just couldn't carry on that way
Oh, I did some damage, I know it's true
Didn't know I was so lonely , till I found you

This one's for you Ms. Deb ...

'Cause all the debutantes in Houston, baby,
couldn't hold a candle to you

"Blind Faith" was one of the shortest lived Supergroups, yet gave us the gift of one of the best songs ever written about home .. "Can’t Find My Way Home" is about being caught up in the excesses of life so much so that you lose vision of what’s important. This acoustic version with just Steve Winwood and his Martin, sitting next to a crackling fireplace, if it were possible, would be me and all of you gathered around the Living Room, we'd be smiling, singing along as we toasted each other and just enjoyed our company .. raise a glass, fire it up, whatever your pleasure may be ..

Been away for a couple days and then been running errands here there and everywhere. Took all morning to catch up! I'll try to remember what I wanted to reply to -

Rick - very interesting statin experience and good advice to warn people to not just accept doctor recommendations without at least grilling them about it first. It's hard for us to research or understand medical things, but you at least have to give it a shot. I've seen a lot of avoidable damage done because people just did what they were told.

Cave, Bells and Willie, I was very touched by your posts and would give you each a hug for opening up like that. It's not an easy thing to do and no everybody are as eloquent.

Bells, that Trombone clip was amazing. And female genealogy is SO much harder to track. I've delved into our family and swear women should be forced to keep their prior name as a middle name at least! Plus, years ago people died young and it's not uncommon to uncover multiple marriages because of it. Glad to hear your tests are done. Hope you get all good reports.

Oh, I know it's not common, but I did know at least 1 of our cats. She curled up on me while I was laying on the couch. She kept staring at me and it popped into my head that she was telling me she was dying. How odd, because she seemed perfectly fine. The feeling was strong enough that I actually took her to the vet. He thought I was crazy anyway, but every time he doubted me it turned out I was right. So, he checked her out and she was fine. 2 weeks later she stopped eating and started going downhill fast. We tried everything, but it just seemed that her system was shutting down no matter what we did and we finally had to put her down. Never had a bond quite like that with our other cats.

RC - Congrats on 2 months off the cigarettes! Isn't it wonderful!!! It'll be interesting to see if/how your health improves.

Dog - so sorry you lost your iTaste W4. It might be that you'll find it on the ground as the ground dries, but the iTaste probably won't be working. And you never know, could be you'll find it some place you'd never expect. Hope your cardio check up shows improvement.

Semi, loved your summary! When I have to be away for a day or 2 it's so hard to catch up and by the time I do I've forgotten what I wanted to write. Marking the posts just gets too confusing.

LJGma and Sterno, WELCOME to the porch! Love having new people join us.

    Flower, Happy Belated Birthday!

Hope I didn't forget anybody. I took notes as I was reading through, but kept getting interrupted, like with grabbing a few hours of sleep before having to get up at 5:45 to go for an echocardiogram and halter monitor. I called last week to schedule the test and the woman said she had me in for 9:30 Thurs morning. She'd schedule the echo on Thurs morning and then the halter after that. OK, fine. Then Tues, on the drive to MA, I get a recording confirming my 7:30 a.m. appt and then another one confirming the 9:30 appt. on Thurs. Huh? At least they had the day right. Got home Wed night and made it to the cardiologist office at 7:30 a.m. Thurs. They fitted me for the halter first and then said I had to come back for the 9:30 echo. Isn't that doing it bass ackwards? Yes, sorry, but it's due to scheduling. Well, gee, don't let the halter leads get in your way! When it was done, I had to sign a paper saying that if I damaged the monitor I'd have to pay $1700, then she explained that I had to bring the monitor back by 7:30 a.m. Fri and just leave it in the basket in the waiting room. It's just a room with chairs, nobody monitoring it. What if somebody takes it - can't imagine why anybody would want to do that, but it's $1700!! Sheesh. Oh well, it's done and over. Hopefully RL will calm down a bit now and I'll be here to bug everybody more often. I missed y'all!

Willie! Glad you're back! Yeah, I was away for a bit too, but it's good to be back on the porch with friends. Nice songs, you always pick such good ones. Thank you for that!
