Not that the post office is a monopoly now but, for years they were. The government is very slow to change ways and in a business situation it really shows. I know they "privatized" the PO years ago but, like everything else the government does there is a really big "not really" attached to it.

If the USPS was losing money, I'd agree with you, but it's still not losing money.

And, I remind you, not one red cent of your tax money goes to the USPS. The USPS continues to run, sometimes not very efficiently I'll admit, solely on revenue from postage, and US postage rates remain among the very lowest in the world.
Yet the money that the USPS does not go to USPS. It goes to other budgets.. and less and less actually goes back into the "business" if what I have read is true.

Hey Sterno. So-so. Am writing, which is good. Daughter called me and told me she thinks two year old drank Tylenol liquid last night. Called poison control this morning when she discovered it. Kid just says, "Yep," when she asks him about it. She just called and told me about it, so she's called poison control and now calling the local children's hospital. And to think...I was considering setting her husband up with and e-cig system and juices. I don't think they're ready.

I agree, might make them more careful with stuff like that. I thought we'd kid proofed our house until I found our 2 year old daughter standing in the bathroom sink going through the medicine cabinet!! Still don't know how she got up there.

So, how did your granddaughter make out? I'm assuming ok since you didn't post more about it.

Deb, you always have a way of making me laugh till I spit water out my nose.

Ain't that the truth!!

Good morning everybody. Three weeks tobacco free and I've lost seven pounds! Drinking flavored unsweetened sparkling water instead of diet Cokes and cut my caffeine back to less than two cups of coffee a day. Salads for lunch with watermelon, raisens, pineapple, spinach, mixed greens, cherries, apple and walnuts...tasting so scrumptious and juicy. I'm feeling pretty good.

Sounds like a yummy diet! So glad to hear that you're feeling better. Probably your food tastes better now that you've quit smoking.

Family issues with my late father's estate and estranged sisters coming out of the woodwork to cause more grief for my dad's wife have me heartbroken. Writing her nasty letters and have never met her in the thirty years they were married. Angry at me for reconciling with him many years ago. Lies, lies, lies and spewing hate. Bragging about all their accomplishments without him. My dad's wife is such a lovely person and led my father back to the Church, so the last forty years of his life spent with her were glorious ones. Some people!!!

Been through that in our own family and it sucks. At least you're supportive and as for the others, some people are just going to be mean and nasty and ignoring them is probably the best thing you can do. Trying to interact with them will only escalate the problem.

Doggie Captain, the pug, is ten years old, moping around and kinda staggering or limping. Taking him to the vet this morning to see what's going on. Just not his bright and chipper self.

When we had that problem with our cairn terrier it turned out she had a raging case of Lyme! Fortunately medication fixed her up. How it's a simple for your pug too.

Hoping your day is a good one and you all who are industrious and planning and building have much success. Can't wait for pics.

G'afternoon, Porchers!

Seems like everyone is busy doing something constructive, and actually, I am, too, but taking a break before my back does.

Update on my friend Nancy: Her hand surgery went well yesterday, but in the last two days her foot has gotten a lot worse!

Seems as though the antibiotics are just not enough so a 2nd surgery is planned!

We're on pins and needles and until the infection is gone, we won't rest easy...

This cat has been in that household for years, and this is the first (and last) time this has happened.
Everyone is puzzled by her behavior, because she literally lunged at Nancy's foot and when Nancy tried to swish her away, that's when the cat got her hand. They're guessing it was an acute seizure!

Can she see ok? She might lash out because she can't see and is afraid.

ordered me a cast iron skillet today cant wait to get it :)

Love cast iron! There are even whole cookbooks that deal with cooking in it.

Well here is the BS law for Washington State. More or less 60% tax on anything vapor related, right to search and seize any products tax not paid on. They vote on it Monday.

Oh rats. That's awful. We're here for you if it comes to pass and you need anything.

At this point I'm not sure so I'm gonna bad out of the USPS bash. Anybody know who's in the hangout?

We have always made out very well with with USPS, but as with anything, a lot depends on individual people doing the work. We had the worlds worst post master in our local town and we had to report him. The next day he was an official USPS car was parked outside the post office all day and the next day he was gone. Proper mail service was restored and all is well again.

The grandson is fine, but the daughter is wailing because the fact that she delayed going to the E.R. has resulted in a Department of Family and Children's Services home investigation. The guy is supposed to be calling me on Monday as well. Bunch of crap. She's a terrific mom. Loves and respects her kids, and they love and respect her.

A properly 'seasoned' CI skillet is a priceless gem!

Needs to come from the modem box.

Almost forgot - Morning Everyone.
Out of the router ports actually which may be part of the modem or not. I have a seperate modem and router for my DSL.
My origional one went bad and ATT wanted big bucks for another one so I went to Wally World and bought one and a separate router. Worked the same as their combined unit.
But was easy to upgrade my router later.

Legs, if you need it you know there are a lot of us who will help you however we can. Yes I am speaking for others besides myself (along with myself), which I don't normally do, but I am sure I am safe with this assumption.
If it goes sideways and it gets passed , call me. You helped me I'll help you, we got to cover each other or the Gov. will steal all our rights. I might be able to contact a couple of tree top fliers to deliver. Got room for a DC-10 in the drive way?;)

I only liked this because the grandson is fine - but that is terrible that she and you have to go thru an investigation. I sure hope it all turns out ok.

They really resolved the problems with the wires breaking on the neckloop!! I think just waiting for the $$$ to get new 'puter is the best option. Text and phone relay are tolerable.
