Geez Roto, I can't imagine being pregnant with a broken ankle! Hubby broke his ankle playing softball in his thirties, doc put some screws in hubby's ankle and said that was the end of hubby's softball career. I wasn't pregnant, but it sure did seem like the hospital sent home a baby instead of hubby..... :D
Oh, it was LOADS of fun. I was six months pregnant at the time. The doctor told me that I would have the baby before the cast came off. He was joking, of course, but the look on my face must have been priceless. I bet I was just as cute as I could be, big as a blimp and using crutches.

Unfortunately, I saw the doctor Tuesday, and was sentenced to four more weeks of no weight bearing.
Sorry about that, amoret. Sounds really frustrating and irritating.

Patience, grasshopper. One day at a time. Then, before you know it, it's just another interesting story to tell.
Sitting here watching Bogart and Hepburn in African Queen.
I loved that movie. I've got in on my computer now. Just need some popcorn.

Oooh, I bet my daughter would love to watch it on a girl's movie night!

On the home front:
We got the key to the apartment late in the afternoon and were told that we just had to wait until the cleaners were through. They didn't do a perfect job. They were obviously in a hurry.

Management has asked if we could pretty please have our old apartment empty, cleaned, and whatever by Sunday night. That way maintenance will have a week to do repairs and such for the new people coming in behind us.

I got a nice surprise. I had been planning on having the smallest bedroom since I have the smallest bed. But, as soon as my daughter walked into that little bedroom, she said it would be better suited to Nick (her oldest son, my 15 year old grandson). And, he seemed to feel the same way. So, everybody's happy.

We even moved a few little things in already! Just some little odds and ends to get them out of the way of the big stuff tomorrow. Tomorrow night, I will be sleeping in my new bedroom and using our new, bigger kitchen.

As far as strawberry shortcake, have used pound cake as da foundation most times. But it doesn't soak up 'nuff of dat sweet 'liquor' in da bowl bottom quick 'nuff.

Ya'll need to try a Twinkie SBSC!
You got da wrong pound cake then. either that or you don't make enough of the "liquor" when you sugar up your strawberries. That's the thing I love about pound cake over other forms, is that it totally sucks up a ton of the liquid, and I make a LOT of it! Twinkies......

Protein? Just get some protein powder and make a protein shake using LOTS of Nestles quick or Hershey's syrup. And for health use 2% milk not whole milk ;)

That totally defeats the purpose of me being able to eat tons of chocolate!! My way is much better.

I shun the artificial liquids and what not that are commonly used to mash the berries into a pulp with, since I feel this is an injustice to the intent of the berry in general and a travesty to all Good Berries .. thusly, two one inch to one half inch thick slices of Pound Cake Loaf Style, drizzled with some Strawberry syrup, a generous layer of Fresh Ripe Strawberries
Ok.....we need to talk darlin.......do you sugar up the strawberries and let them make their own syrup, liquid, juice, or do you buy something separate, cuz that would just be wrong. lol You're doin great with the pound cake slices, but I gotta go with matt on the pshhttt. Seems like when I was a kid, cool whip tasted better than the can, but the can was more fun. Nowadays, seems like cool whip tastes bad, and the can (Reddiwhip) tastes much better. Fortunately the can is still fun! :)

Then drench that in Hershey's Syrup. For your heart :)
not on SBSC, but I do like the way you think! Now......maraschino cherry shortcake, I could so put chocolate sauce on that!

but then I spent a summer in Texas and found out what fresh peaches ought to taste like.
That amazes me, ya musta got em off a farm, cuz the fruit we get in the grocery stores is horrible. My son was 10 before he found out a peach wuzn't posed to crunch! In Indiana he bit into one, juice ran down his arm and it freaked him out! lol

.But she also acts like she's part doggie...always rubbing up against my feet and legs
Newp that's cat behavior. Has she slept in her bed yet?

.I wish there was a window in there...I love a cool breeze and hot baths...
Shock the whole neighborhood......put a tub on the patio and bathe there!

Yes, and it's supposed to contribute to prostate cancer.
Wow, need to tell my son this, he drinks a ton of milk and always has.

Wow this is nice to hear, but seems to me that FDA isn't trying as much to ban ecigs as they are to tax them to death. I know they are trying to ban eliquids in some cases though. Other than menthol and tobacco flavors. But I could be wrong about that.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Sweet calm laid-back little Tukii has turned into the Tazmanian devil the last couple of days:D Earlier she was chasing a fly or some bug and she jumped 2/3 of the way up a wall to catch it.But she also acts like she's part doggie...always rubbing up against my feet and legs and when I talk to her she "talks" back to me...we have some very interesting convos!

Oh! you poor thing, how I miss living with a nutty talking cat. Get yourself a laser pointer and prepare for house repairs!

My older fridge was making strange fan noises so my landlord sent out a stupidly small replacement fridge. He had to put it next door cause I enclosed my carport. So I had to get my boy to help me move it into the house and it seems the kid's stronger then me, cause I'm all stove up with my back and Kellen don't feel a thing. My mind is 20 but my back is 54, ouch!

Good morning everybody!

The power to institute taxes is not among those that the FDA has. However, the classification of vaping gear as "tobacco products" would indirectly have that effect.

And yet no one noticed that there is no tobacco involved.
If you use nicotine, tobacco is involved in its production.

My opinion: it makes it too easy for the other side to accuse vaping advocates of lying if we say that tobacco is not involved.

I do see your point, and our nicotine is derived from tobacco, so yes it's involved, but it does occur naturally in foods to some extent. I use a tobacco by product or perhaps a derivative, but I don't use tobacco.

Most likely but not the only thing it can be extracted from. Thing is, the vast majority of folks have no idea that it's not a carcinogen. That's the real problem IMHO

I like to make cinnamon toast. Always keep some sugar mixed with cinnamon in a little plastic tub in the pantry. That way all I have to do is make some toast and butter it. No looking for ingredients and mixing involved. Just take a teaspoon and sprinkle it on. Mmmm Mmmm! :)

Yep, cinnamon always makes it better!

Thanks Deb! Turning 54 today, what a long strange trip it's been... o_O
I'll be there in 2 years and 3 weeks. Some great times, some lousy times. Hoping all your years from here on out are some of the best you've ever had!

I agree Gary. Most folks wanna pile all the ills of smoking onto the nicotine.
