As sleep approaches tonight I wanted to send out one quick "Thank You" to all of you on this thread.

Today is the 21st anniversary of my Granddad's passing and every year I use the month leading up to today as a private time of reflection on what he taught me and the example of how he lived and how I might, in some way, better myself by recalling and celebrating his memory.

This year, I've felt his memory quite keenly and I have no doubt that some of this additional closeness has come come from these simple pages that are filled with so many tiny reminders of my Granddad. In these posts I see his kindness, his humor, his sense of honesty, his quiet dignity and his deep devotion to people. I see his horrible puns, his potent Irish eloquence and his fierce determination in the face of his sometimes faltering health.

I have been awed and moved by nearly all of you at some point and that is something that I treasure... Here, it seems, you all are holding the line as some of the last, best parts community.

My Granddad would have liked this thread. He would have been at home here.

So thank you back porchers.
Thank you for populating this little corner of the internet.
Thank you for helping me rid myself of some subtle prejudices.
Thank you for sharing your fellowship with me.

And mostly, thank you for simply being who you are.

Cavenerd, Thank you for this blessing. You have become a part of our everyday lives. We notice when you are not here. We remember when you've said you have to get up extra early or go to bed the same, or have something exciting coming up. I pray for all of our Military & Allies, & Veterans daily. But I pray for those of you here by name in that same prayer. So be good, 'cause I'm sitting here pointing God in your direction 2x a day! {{{{{Hugs}}}}} Very happy we could help you thru this last month, Sugar!

So sad. Heard on the news the beautiful Irish Setter that won 2nd overall at Crufts was, it looks like, poisoned. What the f#=~; is this world coming to?

I saw that, too. How horrible. Who would do something like that? HOW would someone do something like that? It's just mind blowing.

Well, I got several after-hours calls from my doctor's office today. (No bad news... they say my cholesterol is right at the upper limit of "good" and want me take medicine for it but I intend to talk them out of it.) The blood work last week had nothing else out of whack.

However, they also demonstrated (I think) that they need to do a better job of scheduling. According to two consecutive robocall messages, I've got an endoscopy at 11:40 and a colonoscopy (what I like to call a lower endoscopy) at 12:15, both this Thursday, same building, same doctor. I'll call 'em tomorrow and see if they know what they're doing.

If they want to do 'em consecutively, that's fine with me, but until I confirm I'm suspecting a scheduling error.

Dave, if you are supposed to be having both procedures - on purpose - that would make sense. Since they have to provide some level of sedation for either procedure there would be no point in putting you under similar sedation twice on two separate dates, most likely when the same department would be doing both procedures anyway. It's not like they are going to be diddling around on either end of things for hours - it all goes fast.

Endoscopy - one of my least favorite things in the medical world. Katie Couric might be able to smile her way through one gazing into a TV camera but... no. :glare:

Very seriously: Take statin drugs if you must, but do not blindly accept them as benign drugs either.

Since this would keep happening in cycles, I was so exasperated that I even went to a neuro specialist for nerve conduction tests & MRI's - all negative. Eventually I quit them on my own.

At 10 mg exertion was more difficult and it felt like I had lost control of my legs. It was like they had a mind of their own and were going in 12 different directions when walking. Every so often I would just stop in my tracks because it was so bizarre. It felt like for some reason I had to learn how to walk all over again, as if I forgot how to do it.

Rick,

I severely edited your post. BUT, I kept the aspect that my bride dealt with. Granted, due to her brain surgery, she was behind the eight ball post-surgery to begin with. But she was deteriorating despite no further reason to do so. Once she stopped da pills, she did slightly improve with her lower muscular issue, but at least she hasn't continued her 'slide down hill'.

In my case, I was suffering, almost daily, lower back and hip discomfort. At least now I have to 'over do it' before I have to do something 'bout it.

Hopefully, this topic will give others a diff alley to check out. Thanx for your input!!!

Thank you Janet and everyone else. Yes, I am a Dog Guy. My wife and I have owned, bred, shown, trained, handled, groomed, rehabilitated, and loved Alaskan Malamutes (and many other animals) for the past 20 years. I was a smoker for over 35 years until 2 months ago (happy anniversary to me:banana:). I was lucky enough to drop the stinkies within 3 days of beginning vaping!
I started with a mvp2.0 and a vv4 with the standard iclears and some dura true liquid. I moved faaaar away from the tanks but still use my innokin gear every day. Tanks are now nautilus, nauti minis, kanger sub nano (with the 1.2's) aero, mini aero..... I'm using a ton of juices, but am really quite happy with Vash's net juices, and njoy artists paramour. Getting ready to move up to a bit higher wattage with either an istick 50 or maybe a ipv mini with a billow or an rda/rta...
That's my story, and I'm stickin to it:)

Congratulations On 2 months! Feels good, huh? Oh, and :
ATTENTION PORCHERS! DOG GUY IS SHOPPING FOR VAPE GEAR!

Thanks, been around just not on this thread for a few days. My home made juice with no artificial flavors or sweetners is working out nice. My mouth and buds are almost plumb healed up. Mostly fruit flavors so far. Going to order some more small bottles of new flavors and then get big bottles of the ones I like.

I do buy tobacco flavored juice though. Had fits trying to find one that was like real cigs. Most was a bit fruity or butterscotchy, etc. Tried all a few vape stores had and finally found Busk Naked American Tobacco flavor. Best so far but still not exactly what I want.

2 months off cigs so far and still a bit of a struggle so I need some tobacco flavor vape sometimes.

Hi Robert!

Don't forget two things about switching to vaping:

There are no rules about how to do this.

You have permission to play.

Very ex 2 PAD smoker here. When I started I almost immediately jumped on using two different nic levels each day and did that for about four months. Morning cravings were always a problem for me when first getting up - so right for the higher nic level for the first few hours of the day. The rest of the day I was fine at a lower nic level, but then those last couple hours before bed time were always a problem too so I just bumped it up when needed.

The best part about quitting with vaping is the flexibility. Give yourself permission to play.

I've had 3 of those, they always do them together & they always knock me out for them. I always warn them to dose me up good because of the panic attacks.

We had a bunch of snow here. When shoveling snow I discovered that my "wind" was light years better than it was just 2 months ago. Got physically sore before I ran out of breath.

That is awesome, Robert! You are having so many great results! Congratulations on sticking with it & working it out!

You might try DIY E-Liquid and especially http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/388751-just-tobacco-no-perfume-no-caramel-no-vanilla-no-tba.html.

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the Porches.

I've had 3 of those, they always do them together & they always knock me out for them. I always warn them to dose me up good because of the panic attacks.

I've had each procedure at least 3 times previously, probably more like 5, but never had them back-to-back or front-to-back, whatever.
Various risk factors make me someone who is supposed to have both tests more often than the average person in my age group.

Since my Dad had esophageal cancer, I'm at higher risk for Barrett's Esophagus and I've had some gastro-esophageal reflux for years and years that responds very well to 20 mg of omeprazole (Prilosec) daily. Also, I was a heavy smoker at the time of my previous endoscopies.

When they do colonoscopies, they always find a small number of polyps that they lasso and remove. I've watched on the monitor as this was done and the doctor once queried me about what I saw because he didn't think it was possible that I was conscious enough to watch what he was doing. Now he knows that I watch and isn't surprised about it any more. I think the polyps are called pre-cancerous.

I listened again to the message from the nurse. It sounds like she is saying "your cholesterol is close to goal, so the doctor recommends you take official over-the-counter daily and get more exercise." I swear you would think that's what she's saying even if you were a native North Carolinian, but my best new guess is that she's actually saying: "your cholesterol is close to goal, so the doctor recommends that you take a fish oil over-the-counter daily and get more exercise."

Cautions not to take prescribed medication blindly are appreciated but not necessary. I am a complete PITA about researching and questioning any Rx that is prescribed to me.

But anyway, thanks for the knowledge that the two tests can be done in the same visit!

Iffy, who is the guy in the picture you posted that I shouldn't allow to do the procedures?
Edit: never mind again. Google picture search. Joseph Mengele.

shrugs...I thought I was the only one that played doctor with myself...Um....well, not exactly that, no...:confused::facepalm:
After my heart attack last year I was on a barrage of drugs...1 gave me a bad rash (Effient), and then my 2 docs played pin the tail on the meds. i just took what they gave me! Then I thought, If this were one of my dogs I would have researched the crap out of every mg they were asking me to give them! Funny how that works!
I decided to forget to take the meds...had a false alarm...went back on them...then kinda decided to not refill any of them. Now I quit smoking, feel fine, buuuuuut, I haven't gotten back to have blood work done yet to go see where I'm at. I should be back at the cardio in the next month or so and then I will see the difference vaping has started to make.

Ummm... standard frequency for consumer products? Even my Citizen Eco-Drive watch isn't giving up that level of info about what frequency it uses in the manual.
Yeh, I don't know what freq they use to sync. I have an alarm clock that syncs automatically too. No idea either but, damn if it doesn't work.

jup.......my nephew has looked into those faraday cages, he's kinda big into prepping. Me not so much. yeah if an EMP happens, hams won't even work I'm sure. thanks for the cuties!! I clicked on your link, but am not sure how to put em on my puter. When someone posts one, I click save image as. But the ones on your link don't let me do that. Should I choose save link, or would that link back to your collection when I posted em?
They might but not if they have any integrated circuits in them. The old stuff would stand up to EMP much better, new stuff, no way.!
