I have a bottle of "Noalox" by Ideal, and I put a dab on the threads with a q-tip, wipe the excess off, and it works like a charm.
Everything screws together like silk after it gets worked around in there.
Not like the ProVari, but still smooth.
I found it at Home Depot, but any hardware store that's of a decent size should carry it.
This bottle will last for the next 3 generations :?:
Sure takes the worry out of the lesser quality purchases.
I have Vamo's from FT, that are over a year and a half old, used daily, and work like new .. love-um
No threading problems, .. but I don't make of habit of forcing anything either.
Give it a try .. cheaper than a new mod

I am so careful with everything. I think the fact that a couple of the eGo's have fallen off the bed or been dropped (with toppers on) and that's why the threads are stripped. I've never forced anything to thread, it has to be the falls. It's not that I'm not careful. I drop things or fall asleep with them in the bed and they fall off. Ooops.

Not too sure how well the AFC will protect the threads if I drop it.

I'm quite happy with my ITaste v3's and MVP2's but all the Vapepocalypse talk does get me thinking to at least consider a "battery mod".

How about the "smok Aluminum ACE Variable Voltage/Wattage Mod Device"?

It's price attracted me...the color ones are "on sale" for $29.95 with coupon "COUPONISM" => $26.99

It's VV, VW, has ohms checker and uses one 18650 IMR battery.

One review on the site says "I've owned a VAMO for about a yr. but got tired of the weight (with the 18650). Purchased a SID a couple months back and really like the light weight but not a great fan of the one button menu.
Saw the ACE on special and purchased one. Finally, a device with the light weight of a SID and the functionality of a VAMO."

Figure I'll get the 18650 Sanyo 3400mAh (Add $16.95) battery with it.

Any thoughts, ideas, other suggestions for my first "battery mod"?

SmokTech Stainless Steel ACE Variable Voltage / Wattage Mod E-Cig Device

Sorry, don't know anything about the ACE, but they sure have pretty colors!

I was in Lowes last year and saw a display of girly tool boxes, some were pink and some were purple. Jokingly...I told my friend that I'd definitely want the purple one. She gave me one for Christmas! I wondered what on earth I'd do with it...I have a manly tool box for my tools thank you very much. Welcome to the wonderful world of organized vaporphernalia!

I've only been vaping for about a month and I've just about outgrown it!

Well, I think it's pretty! Maybe you can ask for a few more because it won't take long to outgrow them. We went from one container to another until we ended up with lots of containers... So, we recently gathered up all our vape stuff to get it organized in one place and we needed our old secretary to house it all. The top has 3 shelves behind doors with a desk in the middle and 3 drawers below the desk. Between our devices and DIY stuff it's amazing how much of that secretary is filled.

I can't tell you how many times I've gotten out of the vehicle, heard something hit the pavement and thought wth was that...forgetting I laid the vv or ego in my lap.

Deborah, you are going to love that little thing!

Ok, so I have a question. My hammer is great, but when I put my 18350 imr batteries, which are "button top", and when I screw on the cap, my atty fires, seams the button touches the contact. Guess I should have gotten flat top, who knew?

So I turned the battery around, put it in backwards, works fine, so im thinking, this is a direct circuit, no polarity, no double battery, just current through a resistor coil, so which direction the the power flows shouldn't matter.

So my question is, is this safe? I don't see why it wouldn't be, but then I am new to mechs. If someone knows something I don't, please share.

yep. You did right. A coil is a very simple circuit that doesn't care wich side is positive.

Sorry about the hammer. My 18350s are flattop so I had no idea there was an issue. :(
my larger batteries have button tops and I reverse them.

Just a heads up FWIW...

FastTech order.

Ordered Feb 16.
Shipped March 1st. Tracking # received.

So far... nothing. Tracking shows in transit.

Response from Fasttech today...
```````````````````````````````````````
We understand the tracking has not been updated for a while and there might be some problem with the order. Sadly we have no means to know where exactly the package is except by filing complaint case toward the post office to institute investigation and waiting for their definite feedback within TWO MONTHS.
````````````````````````````````````````

Looks like I'll be ordering from other places for a while. Or just saving money and ordering nothing!!!

Just a couple batts and some coil heads so it's not that much of a biggie.
if it gets sent back, you will get a notification for refund.

I order from them off and on, but nothing I need soon !
It's probably sitting in customs, as batteries and juices are two things that have a hard time getting out of the country.
I don't know what kind of batteries you bought, but that may be the holdup.

They will either make it through, or you will receive a refund, because they were sent back to FT.
I have had that happen.
It just depends of what customs does, and when they decide to do it.

They were getting through Singapore mail for a while and FT was informing their customers to choose that option if they were ordering batteries, which I did, and they are here. (1300 vision spinners on sale)
FT is a good place to shop, but you have to be choosy about what your shopping for.
They try to help all they can, such as telling you if it's real or a clone.
I have had disappointments and some great bargains, but I choose to shop there occasionally.

Personally, I think the prices make the hassle and wait worth it, but I know better than to watch for the mailman in the same month !
I hope your package gets here, but the wait may not be their fault.
I disagree.... Took me 5 months to get an ore der when it was sent back... Just don't prefer FT for me. But if it works for you, I won't sink your boat. :)

I ordered Feb 26, shipped March 6 via Singapore Post (I didn't know any better). Have no idea where pkg is. Three diff tracking websites only show it as In Transit. No juice in the order but it does have a Vamo in it & a Vv3.

A few days later I placed a 2nd order & used same shipping method. Fasttech has split that order into 3 shipments, two of which have shipped. Again, I cannot locate those orders either.

I knew to be patient, but I'm getting concerned now. If I could track the shipments reliably I'd feel a lot better. All together this is nearly $200 worth of goods. Some of it is for my daughter & her bf. I feel bad that I haven't been able to deliver their items to them. I have plenty of supplies to keep me going but they don't.

FT is not for anything you need. Just for that which you may WANT. :)
One's too big, others too small. :) I really like the big one but no idea where I'd put it!

I got a bunch of stands I made. One for mods, one for ego's n clearo's. One for juice, one for 30 ml juice, DIY liquiids... and more. I was thinking about makin one of those big ones but got too much and then... where the helk would I put it! I like to have the juice and mods sitting in front of my (dual) monitors. Just handy. And I can move em around easily.

Gotta wait til the temp stabilizes up to at least 1000 degrees below zero so I kin get to the garage and start building. Not to mention shake this incredibly brutal cold I seemed to have picked up. (I very rarely get colds)

But as a temporary thing, when you hit the stores for those cupcakes or cookies or what have you, the plastic containers with sections make a great temp tray for stuff. I have one from a fruit assortment thingy from sams club that works quite well. For now.

(yeah, I like yer avatar too, Lego!) :)
egg cartons make nice temp holders too.

Well, FT is great for backup products, hard to find things and/or things you really "don't" need but are cool. My first "missing" order was just regular free shipping. The others, I've been using the optional upgrade. Like 2 bucks or so. Last order I got that way only took about 9 days.

Ok the coil may not know the difference but that is a dangerous set up since the casing of the mod is now positive and the fire pin is negative. If you set it on metal surface you can short out and smoke the battery. Not recommended.

Huh? If the body is negative and the firing pin positive and you set it on a metal surface it can short out, etc. Polarity makes no difference on the possibility of that happening.

Correct. As long as negative and positive are not connected in a circuit, there is no danger.

Well ...Can't help you there (dropped a few myself)
But that's a good selling point for ANTI smoking .. you can't set the house on fire if you fall asleep with it in bed

Your not alone ..I've done the same thing. :-x
It's stupidity on my behalf, because I have one of those old smokeless (put out the cig for ya) ashtray cups.
I threw away the top cap, washed it a dozen times, and it fits right in the cup holder and is tall enough to keep anything from falling out or over, and is big enough to hold several mods.
It's super easy to use while driving, just pick out the one you want, and then drop it back in.
NOooo, I gotta put it in my lap
I would think old age, and past experience would soak in at some point in my life

I remember Fords having positive ground electrical systems in the past. Giving one a jump start was possible although certain things could cause bad results.

Ford? Could be. I remember Chrysler. On the udder hand I sometimes remember my name.

I have seen people sick a cutoff piece of a pool noodle in a cup. The hole in the center is just the right size for most cylindrical mods

It sure as heck does. Why do cars no longer have a positive ground? Why is the standard for all personal electronics a negative ground? It is a safety thing. If you want to do this it is fine but don't encourage others.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Safety thing yes. But more to set a standard so you don't fry yourself or what you're working on. That's for safety.

In 12 volt red is + black is -. If you reverse the colors you don't reverse the polarity. Just the colors. That's called setting a standard. Any color can actually be anything you want it to be. But red and black are the standard. After all, if you guide a shopping cart into a pos ground car... nothing happens. Polarity is essentially just the direction of power flow.

Let's slow down on the reverse polarity discussion for a minute and think about the real repercussions of putting a batt. in a mech backwards. What could really happen?

I can think of one danger. If there was a tear in the shrink wrap of the battery and it causes a short between the anode of the batt. and the body of the mech, you will have a dead short when you push the button.

However the torn shrink wrap also causes a bad problem when the battery is installed with the correct polarity because the mech will fire without pushing the button.

Either situation will cause a quickly escalating battery issue. The moral of the story for me is to not use batteries with worn or damaged shrink wrap.

Good batteries installed in reverse are not much of a problem unless someone can cite a specific danger I haven't thought of.
