@Kenna, I'm on another custard spree. I have 5 different recipes in various stages of steeping, made over the last few weeks. Clearly, the change in weather (high of 65 here, today!) impacts my taste buds. So much for "I'm sick of custards!" :)

@clnire, in my quest for custard recipes, I keep seeing your name. Found you again, today, in an old thread called "Stevo's Vanilla Custard." Didja ever make it?

I currently use cotton for my coils, but I hear so much about rayon. The cotton does not seem to last very long so I was thinking about trying the rayon. Any views on rayon and if it is good where can I get a small supply? Don't want 400 lbs...

Semi- I've been using rayon for quite a long time now. Before that it was KGD cotton. It took a little fiddling in the beginning to get the right density ... but there's no going back for me. It wicks and tastes fine. It will also tolerate moderate dry hit if I forget to open my juice control on the atty.

This is probably the most popular rayon folks are using. Just make sure it's 100% rayon some of the cellucotton is cotton.

You can also get it at a Sally's Beauty shop if there is one around you.

No I have not. I kinda got away from custards but all this talk has me thinking I must try it again. Cooler weather is more custard time.

I believe oral arguments in the Nicopure suit begin, today (10/11).
Oh wow......sure hope this goes very well!!

Rayon is great stuff. I've been using it for ages and it kicks the crap out of cotton. Just remember that it isn't cotton and you have to have the rayon rather tight in the coil since it doesn't expand. There is NO breakin taste with rayon so if you have some then your coil is wicked wrong but the taste does go away after a while. Trim or thin the tails some since you don't need as much tail wicking. It usually takes me a subtank or two before the rayon really begins to shine and after that......great vapin.
Maybe it's cuz I use bottom feeders, so I use very little wick, but I love KGD. Rayon was too fiddly, and just never gave me as good a vape. But it seriously might have to do with the fact that tank users use a LOT more wick than squonkers. Our wick just barely touches the deck. With KGD I have no off flavor, and breaks in to full flavor within 2-3 squonks. Maybe 15 vapes at the most.

Whew! Lotta catchin' up to do after takin' off for a three day weekend. :) Had some good quality time with my lovely Bride, though, so I'm not feelin' too guilty about not bein' around here. :p Still love all of y'all, though!

Does anyone know what gives juice a "wet" taste? My almond cheesecake tastes dry. Gogleeygooglefu said EM, marshmallow, distilled water and sterile saline -- in small quantities -- are the answer. Before I try any of these, I'd love to hear from our DIY experts. TIA!

I've had a bit of luck by adding a few drops of sterile saline. EM is just a sweetener (and can also slightly change the flavor profile). I've used marshmallow, but not for this purpose (I see now that you tried that and that it worked very well for you... adding that to the brain file for future use now!). I refuse to add water to my mixtures... not that there's anything wrong with doing so; it's just that my brain won't allow me to do it. :p

Thanks, Kenna! That sounds delish!

@Kaezziel, the Apple Cinnabun is very good, after 3+ weeks steeping. I may add a drop or 3 of Joy, to bring out the toasty bread bits :)

AWESOME!!!! So glad that it worked out for you! :D I still need to mix up a batch with the tweaks that you suggested... I wanted to get some mixing done over the weekend, but that just didn't happen. I'm hoping that I can find some time to play with some mixes this week, though. I still need to get a new batch of Rooibos base made up, too... :(

Looks like this got answered for ya already, but if you just want a bit to try it out, I can stuff some into an envelope and send ya some. :)

Well that's an opportunity for a new business in a tropical location! Where's Kazz? Wasn't he looking for an island to create a Vapers Haven?

:D:D:D That would be awesome!!!!!

I've been using rayon in my RDAs for quite a while now... both before and after squonking. ;) The key to getting proper flavor from rayon lies in the density inside the coil. It needs to be substantially tighter than cotton, but overstuffing it inside the coil can lead to long break-in periods.

:) :) :) welcome back!

Jup I think that's why I got frustrated with it. and I have no complaints from my KGD at all, so just went back to that.

Uh, don't look now, but your saline probably has the dreaded di-hydrogen monoxide.... ;)

Thanks, Darlin'! :) It was a pretty good weekend... we were mostly lazy, but we were lazy together. ;)

I get it... there's a learning curve there that has to be figured out. If what you were using before is good and works for you, then there isn't much incentive to worry with trying to deal with the hassle of learning a whole new method. Cotton wasn't working for me; I found rayon, and it does... whatever keeps us happy, right?

I've gone back to cotton, too. Just something about the taste with rayon. But KGD is good from the beginning.
