I always check for the certs, but did not know about grading. Thanks.

Unfortunately, just because a company has tossed a SSL certificate on their server, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's secure. I'm finding a LOT of servers that are in serious need of updating and are failing the SSL check due to vulnerable routines. There are too many that are failing due to vulnerable versions of OpenSSL on the server, and those servers are particularly worrisome as they're most likely compromised.

Before you order online from any company, there are a few things that you need to check. And if it's a new company, or one that you've never ordered from in the past, a few checks that may surprise you with their results.

First of all, is the site secure? Does it have a valid SSL certificate? Is it valid just for their shopping cart or the entire site? (Look for the green padlock in your browser's URL bar.) If you don't see the green padlock, the site isn't secured with a SSL certificate. Browsing should be fine, but I personally wouldn't enter any information on a page that wasn't showing a valid SSL certificate.

If this is a new site, or one that you've never ordered from before, you may want to do a couple of other security checks just to put your mind at rest.

The first check is from SSL Labs.

SSL Server Test (Powered by Qualys SSL Labs)

It takes a couple of minutes to run, and will give you a resulting grade. Anything below C should be an immediate indicator to flee the site and never return. A grade of A or B is OK. Technically, a grade of C isn't something I'd condemn outright, but personally, I wouldn't submit personal information. It depends on why the check came back with that grade. That's just me.

For example: Let's say you plug in site "xyz.com" and it comes back with a grade of F, and the reason for the failure is they're running a vulnerable version of OpenSSL (yes, even today there are some incompetent admins who shouldn't be administering servers that talk to the Internet).

A failing grade in this case has a couple of worrying issues. First and foremost, it's obvious your information isn't secure on this server. But the most worrying aspect would be that the server is most likely compromised and has been for some time. And until a full blown security audit has been accomplished on that server, it's doubtful it can be trusted for anything until it's taken offline and fixed.

Another good site you can use to run a quick check is Sucuri.

Sucuri Security

This check scans for some of the more common issues found on some sites and will even let you know if it's showing up on email blacklists. If Sucuri thinks the site is compromised, it'll tell you as well. If that shows up, flee. Do not return.

Obviously, there's no way to tell if a site is really secure without some serious pen testing and for the average user, that's not a realistic expectation. But the online tools I mentioned above can give you a pretty decent idea of how well the company treats its online presence.
Thanks! I boomarked em too. My bank has free checking accounts. If yours does, a really easy and free way to keep your money is to open an second checking. When you want to buy something, transfer that amt of money to the 2nd acct. Takes seconds and happens immediately. Then use that card to make the purchase. Just keep 20.00 in that acct or whatever to keep it open.

Howdy @Debadoo

The Lucky Shot is a Caramel, Cream and Graham from OSDIY (from their flavor blend list). It's really good (IMO) as a stand alone and pairs well with just about anything. I tried some with the addition of about 3% TFA Bananas Foster and OH MY! Or with your favorite Cheese Cake or a tropical fruit blend, Mmm, Mmm! I'm gonna have to try it with just a little Double Chocolate too and see what that does. I'll let you know..........
thanks hun, sounds yummy

There is mutton that either a sharp blade or a big hammer cannot adjust...
They won't fix a hole in a water balloon!! :pervy:

I thought about using typing erasers. Those rough ones that rubbed holes in the paper thus removing what you wanted ereased.
just don't use em on a Reo with the new contacts. That's too rough and will likely take the plating off the copper. Most reonauts use those white vinyl erasers. But unless ya find em on a stick, as Gary said.....hard to get in a provari

A few decades ago, I use to go to restaurants and ask for their old mayo and pickle gallon containers.
what did ya do with em??

I do the same thing. Except with me, it's internalized. I go round and round. It's very irritating to have so much of my mind taken up with that . . . . . stuff.
same here. I am just as bad as legs, but I do it internally, and the worst part is... I still usually end up making the wrong decision!! :(

Just stopping in to say hi. It's been a while since I've sat on the porch. I quit vaping for about three months or so thinking the new FDA regs would ruin it so why not go ahead and stop. Didn't smoke, didn't want to, but I really did miss vaping. It's really not an addiction for me. It's more of an outlet for my anxiety and boredom.

I gave away all my attys to the guys at work but kept a couple mods so I decided to pick up a Cleito and some juice on the way home from work today. :w00t: I'll probably keep on with it as long as it's not prohibitively expensive.

Got a few of my favorite juices coming in the mail as well as a new RDA. I couldn't believe all the new mods and drippers they had at the store. The gear I used to use is all a bunch of antiques now, I guess.

I hope everyone has been doing good. It feels good to vape again.

what did ya do with em??
I put stuff in them. Mostly dry foods. Cereals, pastas, . . . . Whatever I happened to need at the time.

I still have one left. It has instant potato flakes in it at the moment.

That's why I so often just walk away. Once the confusion sets in, I'm too likely to make the wrong decision.

Just under the wire! Good Morning Porchers!!!

Ok, Imma do 8% LS with some Wild Cherrylicious & maybe some whipped cream.
Oooo, That sounds AWESOME! Maybe even "Awesomesauce"! (?)

I still usually end up making the wrong decision!! :(
Just use the "George Castanza" approach, "If whatever I decide is wrong, then the opposite must be right." :D

Thanks for the security check links, @retired1 .

I just had to play around with the security check.......
Here's just a few of the sites I checked (after the fact  ).

Heartland Vapes (Nic, PG, VG etc.) = A
Wizard Labs (Nic, PG, VG, Flavors, Labware etc.) = B
ElementVapes (Mods, Tanks, Batteries, etc.) = A
Hoosierecigs (Mods, Tanks, Batteries, etc.) = A-
J-Wraps (Mod Wraps, Trays, Stands, Cup Holders, etc.) = B-

Thankfully they all "passed"! :headbang:

What a GREAT tool! Thanks again @retired1 ! :toast:

@2legsshrt, I'm so hoping you're right about how good the Tobeco KFV5's are. I only took one of the 2 I bought out of the box today and looked at it. Then I got an email from eciggity w/ a 20% off coupon code. Ding-dong ... I order 2 more.

Safe travels, Mike! How's the new boy?

I got in that last night or early this morning depending how's you look at it. Little Huxley is doing just fine. Until last night he's been giving his new mommy and daddy fairly peaceful nights. Janet told me he was up for hours last night though.

How much better is the Kabuki compared to the Nautilus full size??

I vaped the Nautilus 'at times' just because. When I vape the Kabuki, I actually like it and continue using it. Don't ask me why/how ... it just produces better vape and flavor for my tastes.

Now they have a new Kabuki clone that is supposed to be the best so far. Damn I hate making decisions I usually go with the first one I look at.$19.56 Kabuki Styled BCC Bottom Coil Clearomizer - 3ml / 1.8ohm(4.2-5V) / 316 stainless steel + glass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Only diff, I see is it uses an allen screw for the 510 like the original. Don't know that, that matters much.

Anybody know how fast does evape.us ship stuff out

My order shipped the day after I placed it.

Psst... Use the eraser of a pencil. Perfect fit.

Just use a new eraser so it's flat. Shove it in and twist it a few times. Remove, rub it on a paper towel (it'll be black), repeat as needed. :)

What he said ... I've been uses erasers for years on any contact that needs cleaning not just PVs.

Oh and 3 colors of Orings 2 allen wrenches and a cool little bag that probably wouldn't get used.

But only the blue drip tip.

Well I took a chance on the newest one and ordered 2. The 2 drip tips made the difference. LOL

I didn't see 2 drip tips in the advert for it.

I'm pretty sure this RY4 I got from the local store is just plain Flavour Art RY4 and nothing else. I think my own mixes of it were better. It will do until the good stuff gets here.

Thanks for the replies. I have wondered how everyone has been doing. Glad to see new people still coming in. A lot of the people I had been following haven't posted in a long time though.

It's good to see you. I sure have missed a good NET vape. Sun Cured Turkish or Balkan from Clay would be so nice right now.

6mg nic hits like a truck when you haven't vaped in a while.

Y'all have a good night.

Hello everyone. While I am not quite 55 yet, the way the years seem to roll by as I get older it won't be much longer, so I figured I better grab a spot for my chair on the porch. I was a 1 1/2 to a 2 pack a day smoker since I started in the seventies, finally started vaping in 2012 and haven't had a stinkie since. Started out on an Ego with the Ego tank, moved up to a Vamo first with a CE4 style, then Protank 2's. After the Deeming news I decided to bite the bullet and got a couple of Provari's, a P3 and a Radius, figuring the would last a long time. I just got a couple of Subtanks so I can start rebuilding coils(will take some getting used to vaping at higher wattages), but still like the Protanks as my all day tank.
