After pwmeek said "I'm a fastener guy"

will you be my newest best friend?? hehehe I never know what size I need for something, then when I get that part straight, never know on a site if I'm getting the right thing. I did find bolt depot to be cheaper on product and shipping than Mcmaster Carr, but do you know of a better place, or do you just have a never ending supply from back when y'all did that?

I don't mind being anyone's best friend, but for figuring out what fastener you need there are easier ways. Here is a link to the McMaster-Carr page where thread/screw checkers are listed:

Edit: I forgot; links not allowed. Search the McMaster-Carr site for {{ thread identifiers }} (Plates with a bunch of threaded holes)

For about $10 or $12 each you can get plastic screw checkers (one for inch and one for metric). For about $20 each, you can get metal ones that will last a lot longer, but you need one for inch and two (one for small and one for large) metric sizes. I have all three metal ones.

This page has a different style of thread identifiers. They can identify both bolts/screws and nuts/threaded holes. Not as easy to use but versatile:

(See above) Search for {{ thread checkers }} A string of inside and outside thread checkers in a bunch of sizes.

I also have this style (I said I was a fastener guy) as well as quite a number of other ways of identifying fasteners. I think the first style is probably easiest to use for someone unfamiliar with fasteners.

As far as where I buy fasteners, it's McMC all the way. They have the best website and ship via UPS ground which costs about $5-6 for light packages, and arrives at my door the very next day where I am. I can't afford to drive to a local store (which probably won't have what I need) for $5. (And my time is worth something. I could even be vaping.)

As far as my supply of fasteners. I bought a box of every common size of inch screws and nuts plus cabinets to keep them in (from McMC) when I was having my house built. Before that if one of the guys broke something and needed a particular size of bolt to fix it, the construction company would send a guy in a company truck to go find and buy one. It usually took a couple of hours (on my dime) for him to get back, and he might or might not have found the proper bolt. Once I had a local supply, that quit happening. I spent a couple thousand getting my supply, but I bet I saved a LOT more in the long run by just being able to say, "What size do you need; here let me see the old one. Great. Here it is; get back to work." And when the house was finished, I had a great resource for my own use. I also bought a LOT of specialty tools, and a Bobcat skid loader that the construction company would have had to rent (on my dime again, plus a profit) for the ten years construction took. I saved money there, too, and ended up with a lightly-used Bobcat plus a lot of cool tools after the job was done.

@DancingHeretik, did I miss your birthday? My brain is so muddled I can't remember if I did or I just missed it. I'm sorry. I hope I did and now I'm just making a fool of myself. Either way...

I know Lowes and prolly home depot do regular batts, maybe check and see if you can put the mods in there too. I wonder if most vape shops would take em

Glad you're loving it. Boy you aint kiddin........ son and dil each got newer cars a year or so ago........even the keys are odd. My son's looks like this, and you put the whole plastic thing in the key hole
images

My dil's car, you don't even insert the key. You have to have it on you, and when you touch the underside of the handle, it unlocks the doors, then put foot on gas pedal and mash a button to start. One day I was trying to figger out which button on the fob unlocked the back hatch of her SUV, and I ended up starting the car  Too fancy for me

One of the rentals we had had a key like that. I'd never buy a car that had that kind of key. Easily breakable and not doubt costs well over $100 to replace. Remember when you could go to a hardware store and get a new key made for a couple of bucks? Remember when you could roll down your window even when the battery died? Remember when they built things to last?

Where is Grandma? I just looked and she hasn't been on here since April.

I miss @grandmato5, I really hope she is okay and just has better things to do. :(

No idea what you were trying to say but gave you two laughs for trying. :) It was late in your time zone.

I ordered some Nautilus coils. As of last night tracking had showed them received at a post office in Florida awaiting acceptance, for 6 days. Checked in this morning and they were out for delivery. Sometimes it seems like they are doing it to torment you.

Ah ... the Prime is on my 'wish' list. Hasn't quite made it to the 'want' list. Unlike you, my fav KFL is the V5. I've got Lite's, Lite +'s, V4s, V3s and V5s. The Lite are a bit too tight on the airflow for me, though my wife loves 'em. The V3 is too tall, but I like the diameter on smaller mods. The V5 is my workhorse. I'm wishing for the 'Prime' to sit atop our JAC's. Right now we're using Erl-Nano's and although I like the Erl-nano's vape, it just falls short for me. I'm thinking maybe the Prime would be a good replacement for it.
What is the difference in the Prime?

The Prime is like a scaled down K5. It's still 22mm in diamete but shorter in length/height and the tank is a 2-2.5ml (*) capacity. It's top filling, and has a juice control ring, and air adjustment like the K5.

It also has an optional 'kit' with a taller chimney and bigger glass for a 4 ml capacity.

(*) Svoe lists it as 2 ml capacity. But some folks are reporting they get 2.5+ ml into it when filling.

Ok. TY! I guess if the height of the K5 bothers you, you want more stealth, or laws prevent a tank capacity larger than 2ml. Other than that I don't see the point. My brain is asking "why" on loop.

I believe it was a result of the EU regs for tanks no bigger than 2 ml. Also perhaps, it's a true MTL tank. Svoe took a lot of criticism about how airy the K4 and K5 are. And consider the 'huge' advantage of not needing a little screw driver to refill it compared to a KFL v2/Lite. :D

The prime also had a slotted deck they claim works to deliver air evenly across the coil instead of just on the middle. The air system is the same as the 5 but it has better sized hole options for tight draw. The top cap has a capture ring so when you put it down is doesn't drip on the table and a fine edge so you guide juice in instead of squeezing it out when you close it up. If you have a 5 you know what I mean.

I was thinking laws might influence that, too. The lowest 2 setting on the K5 are fine for mtl for me, but I do more dl now.

Just glad:
1) I'm not (yet) subject to the EU rule (or one like it) for sub-2 ml tanks
2) I've got a goodly supply of ~5 ml tanks (just in case)

Having to refill so often would be a real drag. I'd have to carry bottles of juice everywhere, all the time.

And this doesn't even begin to cover juice strength rules.

I used to avoid small tanks but moving from glass to unicorn bottles and the improvements in top fill I have switched to 3ml or below. Much easier size to deal with.

Hey, the Prime has gone through 3 work days in a row with no leaks, gurgling or any other drama. Been vaping great. Haven't had the need to wipe with a wet paper towel after filling. I am trying to be somewhat nice out of respect to the glass tank but so far so good.

Yea, that is where I am odd. I prefer smaller tanks -2.5 - 3ml. I have in the past purchased one 5ml tank and beyond the size I did not like that the liquid would change color a little before I finished it. Since I only vape 3 - 4ml a day I only have to fill up once a day...

Everything is disposable now days. Luckily my watch battery went TU on me again but Ginny got me a lifetime battery last time so just have to go 12 miles and get a new one. I used to love those Seiko watches that were around in the 60's, when I was in the Army you could always go to the Pawn shop and some GI low on cash and had been to Nam had sold it to them. Could be bought cheap over there and guys had 3 or 4. They had the best self winding mechanism in them I've ever used. Great watch and could pick one up for less then $20.
