BUMMER! Been there, done that. :(

These come in REAL HANDY, https://www.google.com/search?ei=bk.....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..1.1.86....0.xbStnydSFi0

I'd find the end and start cutting 6 inch lengths. I've got all sorts of containers around to put the cut pieces in.

Cut the mess into whatever length will work for you. Five inches works for about two coils, with enough left over to snip off.
That's actually a pretty good idea. I could pre-build a few hundred coils, I can use the same build in my tank and dripper.
Or, I can just stuff it all in a gallon ziploc bag, I've done it before.

Any bright ideas on how to...fix this?

Apply a liberal amount of patience and a sufficient amount of time and it can be done. Don't ask me how I know.

The spool tamers folks posted are handy ... what I don't like about them is they seem to add extra 'curl' to the wire when pulling it through the hole and off the spool.

I have had good luck recently with parking the end, crimped down, into the slot. I pull it out of the slot, unwind for one or two turns, however much, then park it in the slot, crimp it down, then snip it. Always carefully done, because I know what happens when the stuff gets loose. Like a damaged slinky.

For our ADV atty's they get rewicked and the Kanthal coil dry burned about every 10 days to 2 weeks. A coil will last 4 to 6 months. I see nor taste no reason to change a coil unless it starts looking like a ratty old bbq grill grate after dry burning.
4 to 6 months?! I have heard other people say the same thing. But, how the h . . . .?

I've noticed mine do last longer when I vape unflavored. I think y'all must be using heavier wire too. I guess.

I had something happen tonight when I bottled up a 200ml batch of juice. When I bought DIY supplies, 2+ years ago, I got a 100ml graduated cylinder. When I made my latest batch I finally used the graduated cylinder to measure for all but a couple of my ingredients. I use 50ml bottles and usually fill 4 of them and have an extra 5ml or so left over. Tonight I put 45ml in each bottle to not overfill the bottles. The 4th bottle only had 30ml in it. So thinking I had made 200ml I now only got 165ml. I will now go back to using the syringes instead of the 100ml graduated cylinder. I figured it might be a bit off but didn't expect it to be over 15% off. A graduated cylinder from Scientific America should have been a bit better than that! To the trash pile for that one. When I open up and use that batch of juice, I will be keeping track and if the flavor is off I will dump it. Then again, sometimes mistakes come out really good in the long run.
Something's definitely wrong. I use graduated cylinders a lot (10, 25, and 100 ml). They seem to be calibrated just fine. I've never had any problem.

Maybe, once one of your bottles is empty, fill it full of water then pour the water into the graduated cylinder. I would have to figure it out!

Keep that up and we may consider making a new sub forum called The Geriatric Ward. :D

Damn, I always thought this was the Psych Ward. :(

:w00t:

Another source for those spool tamer thingies. $2.51 Authentic Youde UD Wire Spool Tamer (5-Pack) 5-pack at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

When I didn't have those I just took a piece of elastic and tied it into a loop, put it around the spool and poked the wire through it. Worked the same as a tamer just without the plastic part.

@MikeE3, perhaps the tamer is cinched down too tightly?

Very carefully.

We have another winter storm moving in for a couple of days. Icy roads & sleet, freezing rain. Blech! I'm making a pot of beans & some cornbread. Was going to re-coil some atty's but after this pic I'm afraid my unused 250' spool of SS may be jinxed. Think I'll mix instead. Just to be on the safe side ya know.

I use (mostly) 30 kanthal, and 3 months or more is pretty typical for me. Wicks, not so much! Don't care for unflavored, and some mixes do gunk them quickly.

Another thing I do is after I cut the wire into 6 or so inch length I use an electric screwdriver and a pair of pliers to "Straighten" the wire. I find the wire is easier to handle. I saw it done in one of Rip Trippers videos.

I checked and the graduated cylinder markings are correct. It had to be operator error. I noticed that in my bedroom it is colder than other rooms and the VG is thick. I'm sure that the VG being so thick that it caused the error. I meant to post this earlier but I forgot to post it. Thanks everyone for your advice.

When you open a can of worms, they only way to put them back is to use a larger can.

Just today I made a bunch of spool tamers cause I'm getting several spools of 38-46 gauge wire to use as clapton wrap and the core wire spools don't need a bobbin threader on them anymore but the wrap wire does, also don't want to make any more threaders. I "DIY spool tamer" in YouTube and made several using fabric elastic, some tubing and heatshrink, I also used some old protank chimneys that fit inside the tubing so the wire doesn't cut into the tubing as one is dispensing. The storebought tamers look nicer but I'd rather DIY anything I can long before spending the money.
Patience grasshopper is needed to recoil that rats nest that I haven't had to deal with as of yet but come close, the first time I handled 24 gauge spool just about exploded on me. I would spend the time to respool cause thats the way I am, have many years practice untangling Christmas lights that the wire would be a walk in the park to respool. The only crapper is getting kinks in the wire...thats when Patience of Job comes into play...lol.

OK, got an unopened 10ml of Flavour Art Lime Tahity flav. Any confirmed successful recipes/ratios? TIA...

No. Not by choice, I'm not using flavors anymore. But my FT order suddenly showed up at the PO, though it never showed up in tracking. And I asked them to change my email address and now I can't access my account there so saving tons of money. :grr:

Nope.

With any new flavor (that isn't specifically an enhancer), I usually just make up a 10 ml batch at 5% to see...
