Thanks, Gary. The custard is also ready made and comes from a company that says no diketones. I've mixed a bit of strong-flavor-1 with custard, before. Strong-flavor-1 was still too strong! So, diluting it will be good

ETA, I'm hoping Kenna's love of custards will ultimately point me in a good DIY custard direction. I love custard, but the diketones thing is kinda worrisome!
Well as long as it's not oil based you should be good. :)

[QUOTE="FlamingoTutu, post: 16918966,
Whoa. I missed that, the vape caddy was awesome but missed the castle. You guys posting vape stuff on the Back Porch again? :grr:

@Ken_A. Would you please post your castle here for Tutu? She's stalking around, flapping her wings & leaves & dust are flying everywhere!

Good morning, Porchers! I have a quasi-DIY question. I've got about 180 mls of a juice that is waaaay to strong (purchased), but whose flavor I like. I'm planning to mix that juice with PG/VG, and perhaps some vanilla custard (which I also have a lot of). I like sweeter juice, and will want to sweeten. For each 100mls of juice, what can I use for sweetener, and in what quantity? I don't have any DIY flavors, yet. Thanks for your help!
For each 100 mls?! You are going to experiment with smaller quantities first, right?

Oopsy! For each 10 mls! I think it will be 3 parts too-strong-flavor, 2 parts VG, and 5 parts vanilla custard. Then, how much, and what kind of sweetener? I'm not worried about reducing the nic level; both juices are 6mg and I usually vape 3 mg, now. If the end result comes out at 4-4.5 mg, it'll be fine.

That's better than mine, no taste at all. Vape wise anyway. I am having real trouble tasting anything when I'm vaping. Going through the percentage challenge now. Vaping TFA Strawberry Real at 15% and can barely taste it. Sometimes I get a "burst" of strawberry but mostly blah. Don't know what's going on. I get TH when I vape it but no real flavor. Listening to folks talk about juices I get the feeling that they're tasting it strong and regular. Kind of like eating the real thing be it strawberries or apple pie, etc. I'm going to keep trying though because we all know it beats the hell out of the stinkies!
@AndriaD loves strawberry & had a hard time getting a true, tasty, in your face strawberry. She has a strawberries & cream recipe that uses about three different brands if strawberry to get a good flavor. One of them is Inawera Sisha Strawberry. She's not found a substitute for it, & swears by it for true, good flavor, but it takes all 3 of them to get the right flavor. Also, I've seen many, many posts that talk about it taking about a week for some berry or fruit flavors to show up. Do a search for strawberries & cream on the DIY forum. Her's gets mentioned a lot, so just scroll down & look for Andria. Last time I looked it was on the first page of results. If you don't want the cream, just leave it out. She uses lots of flavor because she has tastebuds issues also, & doesn't like to wait for steeping so it should be shake & vape after a couple of hours, & get even better after that.

Capella and others have DAP free custard flavorings.

You gonna add nic too or just vape the lower nic level?
Edit: Nevermind, didn't read all the posts again before opening my mouth.

Ecigexpress is where I got my Capella flavors. I just started working with them so I am not really sure who has the best deals.
I buy from both their prices are very close and far cheaper than some places. Just depends on which place has what I want in stock. Usually either one or the other has it in stock.

And before anybody asks, I started The TFA Strawberry Real mixes at 5% and slowly worked up to the recommended 15%. Had to get to 15% before I tasted anything. Do you all think I should go up from there? I understand that too much flavor is as bad a too little most times.
I think you need to add & combine more strawberry flavors. I had to combine three blueberries. I could barely taste any of them individually. I could tell what they tasted like, but couldn't get it strong enough. Combined & boom, there it was. I made my recipe, added lemon to brighten & stablize the flavor let it sit a few days & all was good. I need to add more lemon for the big batch next time, tho. The flavor did fade some, more lemon would have stopped that.

Little B... remember, anything you add will dilute the original flavor. And as far as your custard flavor... careful. I wouldn't trust anything from anywhere except a company that says it's safe to vape. While it may be perfectly safe and approved for the stomach (eating), it could be deadly for the lungs (inhaling).
None of the major flavoring companies say their flavor is safe to vape. The places selling them may say that but not the flavoring companies.
Because no one yet knows the full implications of vaping.

I added lemon juice as well. Used actual lemon juice right? 2 drops per 5ml. Can't taste it. Sound right?
Real Lemon in the green bottle is OK right?
I guess I got a lot of questions. Not a NOOB, just haven't mixed a lot of flavors. Mostly just the one ADV I use.

True. Not in so may words. But they have separate sections for vape.

I won't try to make anything from something I get off a shelf at the grocery store other than the lemon concentrate or vinegar. Try a local b & m & see if they'll sell you a bottle of 0mg sweetner. I used to buy unflavored pg vg in my nic strength & use it to dilute juices that were too strong.

The sweetener I'm using I got from High Desert Vapes a few years ago. Doesn't go bad does it? I also have Ethyl Malto crystals but I'm not sure how to mix them. I think I read somewhere 1/2 teaspoon to 10ml pg? Then use that at 1 or 2 drops per ml? (again with the questions!)

I use liquid Stevia from GNC.
