Interestingly, the higher the nic level, the more it seems to "burn" my throat. Lower nic levels seem to be much milder, more flavorful, and don't burn. Is that just my imagination, or is it real?

Suggestions please!

I thought of doing this, but the flavors that I don't like are JUST AWFUL!!

Ever experience this?

Deba addressed this to some extent.

First off, no one should get an unpleasant peppery taste with a recipe from 36mg and lower nic recipes! Yes, there is 'skunky' nic out there.

If you're relying on a single source of pre-made joose, SWITCH sources! Not counting a recipe with a truly crap flav, pepper should not be a dominate influence. Actually, some of the crap flavs may be due to crap nic!

In my experience, nic has a hint of (day-um, searching for the adjective... ah ha...) pleasant mild musk essence; ergo no pepper influence whatsoever.

Actually, I recently revisited unflav'd joose and finding myself topping off at least once a day. With good nic, it has a very slight 'sweet' influence and that mild nic flavor (fer moi, 60PG/40VG @ 15 or 12mg) . And unflav, fer moi, seems to enhance my daily recipes rotation.

Now, keep in mind dat I'd never be selected to be da king's court food taster. But, da pepper taste should not be a 'given' in our nic!

Note, I did not address equipment...

Don't worry about peer pressure. I don't buy much anymore myself. I still stay on the porches though.
speaking of new things... I have looked EVERYWHERE and finally found a nice friendly dragon to have for my very own. When it comes in, I think I will name him Fafner.

Cool. You know something about classical Scandinavian literature? You know that JRR Tolkien's area as a professor at Oxford?

I thought of doing this, but the flavors that I don't like are JUST AWFUL!! Some of the juice I purchased has a horrible, plastic, chemical sort of taste. It's just terrible, and totally unvapable. I can't believe that anyone would vape this stuff. I am not going to name names, but some juice is just disgusting. I can't imagine that mixing it would make it any better. Ever experience this?
On the "Best Gourmet Juice (Juice Junkies)" thread we call that BUT - bad, unidentifiable taste. Just a horrid, waxy, yucky taste that leaves a nasty tasting almost film in your mouth. I do some DIY, but still buy some juice from only a few select vendors I know I like. I am over "flavor chasing", I know what I like and I find most that I do like I manage to DIY something similar that is good to me.

Yep it is why I DIY. Less than 1 % of the commercial ejuice I have tried can I vape.
Either horrible chemical taste and or not pleasant side effects.

And few of the flavorings for DIY I have tried work for me either.
DIY, my next thing to try. I have a fear of making my own though, not sure why.:?:

Hello everyone. This is my first time in any of the Porch threads. I usually just hang out in the Provape area. Most of the general forum seems to be people that want to blow clouds and use very high wattage. Makes me feel old and kinda out dated. I have been on ECF for a few years now. On and off that is. I found being here was hurting my wallet too much. lol

Thought i would give yall a little back ground on me. I started smoking at 12. Mostly just the ones i found people had thrown out. Was not really sure how to go buy my own at that age. As time progressed so did my smoking. I got up to 2-3 PAD before i found vaping. Some friends had gotten some egos and were using them, and i just thought it was crazy. Then some other friends got some of the cigalikes from the gas station. My then GF (now wife) gave it a try cause they had an acia berry flavor. We gave that a try for a bit, but we were both still smoking just as much. I did not find the benefit of doing both and it was costing us way too much money. So we quit that.

A while later i got a new car and decided i did not want to smoke in it. About that time a small vape shop opened by the house so i went and tried it out. Got a small ego and a disposable tank. My wife waited to see how i did cause again she did not want us to waist money we did not have. Next thing i knew i had quit smoking. She went out and got her one and the journey started. I found ECF and things went from bad to worse. Now all i could do was talk about vaping and it almost destroyed us. lol I wanted to get everything people talked about. I wanted to up the vape game. I wanted the flavors to be better and i thought set ups would help that. I knew vaping was my end all be all and i did not want to get a bunch of crap that would just break.

Next thing i knew i was ordering us both a provari and much better tanks. I found that the provari was hard to hide on my desk so i found the vapor shark. The size was just perfect. I got two of those, but found that the quality of them was just not that great after all. They did what they were supposed to and i liked them ok, but they started crapping out. The provape came out with the radius and i am now in love.

My wife and i hit all the conventions we can that come to town. My wife loves it cause she gets to meet people and she is a flavor junkie. We leave those things so broke cause she buys so much liquid it is crazy.

I guess i would consider vaping a hobby since it relaxes me to sit and tinker with my toys. I dont make crazy coils or anything like that. I just sit and clean and fill. I got my wife a kabuki a while back and she loves it. She was not thrilled about the price, but she is glad she has it. lol I am gonna keep looking and see if i can find her another at a decent price so she can have two. She does not build any thing and really just likes the ease of changing out a head and moving it along. If it keeps her smoke free then i am all for it. We just got married this year and I want to make sure i keep her around for a good long while.

So that is it. Us in a nutshell. I am looking forward to getting to know people in here. Everyone have a Happy New Year and heres to another year cigarette free!!!
Vic, welcome to the madness, I mean porch. ;)
Hello fellow middle aged vapers! I'm Fitz, I'm 64, smoked cigarettes since I was 13, and I have been vaping for 6 weeks. I feel like the elder stateman in the vape shops, but when the folks in the shops realize that I know what I'm talking about, we all get along just fine. I love the gear. Lots of new toys to play with, and that is great. I am still struggling with cigarettes, having one or two a day even though they taste like total crap. I honestly believe that I will completely get off of them, mainly because the more I vape, the worse cigarettes become. This is total alien behavior to me. I all of my previous efforts, the longer I stayed away from cigarettes, the better they would smell. I have made it as long as 5 years in the past, but that wonderful aroma of a freshly lit Marlboro drove me right back to them. "I'm mature. I can have just one." Yea right. Vaping is so different, though. I am not feeling the guilt about having an occasional cigarette because I have no craving for smoking a lot of cigarettes. Even when drinking beer! Vaping simply puts such a negative flavor on cigarettes that I don't crave them anymore. Why I am still having an occasional cigarette I really don't know--something is driving me to it--perhaps it's remembering how wonderful it used to be, but If I can't go there again, that's a great thing, and I fell in the long run I will be able to put them down forever. Anyone else have these feelings?
Welcome to the porch, Fitz! My story is the same as several others have said. It took me almost five months to switch completely. It was bumping up to 24mg that got me over the "hump." After about a month, 24mg was almost enough to knock me out and dropped to 16/18mg/ml. I'm happy at 3-6mg now so 24mg isn't a permanent curse/expense.

No one here counts the ones you smoke, only the ones you don't. Honestly, it sounds like you're doing very well. I played a whole psychological game with myself over quitting, probably as self defense from all the high hopes I'd had from trying all the FDA approved quitting smoking gimmicks.

If you continue to have troubles, you might want to look into the WTA thing. I don't know much about it but others do. You are detoxing from a lot of crap in cigarettes, it ain't just the nic.
This is true. I just wish i was not a chain vaper. I never put mine down. It does not matter the nic, i think it is all a hand to mouth thing so i had to lower the nic so i did not kill myself. lol i spend almost as much on liquid as i did on cigarettes. It is just sad.
I'll refrain from smacking you since they've already seemed to have convinced you to try DIY. You can get small vials of flavoring from Wizard Labs in the flavors suggested just to try them out. Flavor Lab You can also pick up a couple of syringes from there also. To start, you don't need much else, sounds like you have a supply of bottles, or pick up a few small bottles from them.
I may just drop off the forums, 'cause I got everything I want or need. ;);)

Can't remember exactly, but after paying retail prices for juice 3 or 4 times - I jumped into DIY. Best jump I ever made - would of scored a Gold Medal in my book...

Have I mixed bad tasting juices - yup. Have I mixed great tasting juices that I was unable to duplicate - yup. Will I ever go back to paying retail prices because of these shortfalls - nope... :D I just vape through it and try again next time - that is also why they say only try new mixes in very small batches...

I think everybody is at first. The intimidation doesn't last long though, especially once you get a little nic on yourself and realize you don't explode. My worst problem was filling in all the correct boxes on the calculator. :sneaky:

I have been wanting to diy for a long time now. Just scared to take the leap. I don't have much down time so what I do have I spend with my wife and our animals. (they are ALL needy) since this week is slow at work I may take a look at some sites that I can find and put together a list of places to buy the stuff. Thing is finding recipes to try. I worry about getting flavors and not realizing they need sweeteners. What I need is a "E-Liquid for dummies" book. FYI that is a hint for all you DIY ers to make one. Lol

DIY it's easy and saves all kinds of money unless you are like me and buy a gazillion flavors all made in Russia through a German distributor. I only have about $250 worth of flavors but its enough to make about 10K ml of juice.

Have you looked in here? DIY E-Liquid You must have for the length of time you've been on here. Also, this is an excellent thread though it really only deals with TFA The Flavor Apprentice Flavoring Thread Some people get really into complex recopies, me not so much. I vape 80/20 with 3-6mg nic and 15% flavoring. The calc does all the work. Four ingredients. Keep the nic in the fridge or freezer away from pets. Also be careful with the PG if you have a cat. Know what you mean about needy pets, want a free dog? :D

Keep all of it out of the way of children. I keep mine in the bottom of the freezer in a lock box... Do not have any kids around, but they have been known to visit even though rarely, but the few we do have visit help themselves to my ice cream sandwiches and other goodies in the freezer. So Lock Box it is...

Ya I have looked around in there. I think it scared me more. Lol I wish I could remember the site that had the pg/VG already mixed 50/50. I looked for that app yall mentioned but seems android does not have it.

And thanks for the offer of a free dog, but dang it I already have 3 of those free loaders and a shady cat that is trying to kill the dogs off. Lol

Just do a search for ejuice me up. Program for mixing and comes with a zillion recipes.
Forgot it came with recipes. I've never looked at them. I always forget to put in the PG/VG ratio at the bottom. Only have to use the calc when I lose the scrape of paper I've written the recipe on. Or my husband tosses it. :grr:

Well welcome Vic and Fitz. I am kind of a weird vaper. I find something I really like and I buy a bunch. I am also a weird DIYer. I found these Russian flavors and I have about 10 I really like. Not all or any are willing to spend the time with getting it and some just do not like the flavors but for me they work great. They only take 2% and almost all are good by themselves. I spend a little more on VG/PG and buy it already mixed to 50/50 same with my nic. I hate trying to mix different flavors so the way I do it I can whip up 3 or 400ml in about 30 min. I make 100ml batches of the ones I like and my favorite faves I make in 200ml batches. I am down to 3mg of nic so that is a moot point. With this particular flavor it is so easy 100ml=3ml 100mg nic, 2ml flavor and 95ml of 50/50 VG/PG so it comes out about 52/48. That's all there is to it. But like I say most people get their flavors from mainstream flavor makers which there is nothing wrong with at all. Cheaper and my tastes are different I guess. What ever floats your boat. There isn't a wrong way. Except smoking.

E cigarette express has it already mixed to 50/50 more expensive that way. I've been going to order from Essential Depot they have a great price on 1gal VG 1gal PG like $45 shipping included.
