Thank you for chiming in. I was trying to figure out how to say what you just did. I agree with all you have said. A standard VV/VW mod would probably be much better at this point. I have a couple ipv Mini II and they are great systems. I would never recommend a TC device for a new person getting into vaping.
@Vape Suzette look into some of the devices that are VV/VW before you try to venture into the TC field. Talk to some of the other folks here that are much more knowledgeable than I am. As was mentioned the IPV mini II is a great system and very user friendly. A topper that I use on mine is the Kanger Subtank. I like it because you can use premade coils and it also includes a rebuildable base for when you feel like venturing into making your own coils. I apologize for any miscommunication that made you think I was recommending the SMY Temp Control unit for you to use. Later when you have more experience and are comfortable you can move into Temp Control at your leisure. No need to rush into anything until you are ready. Or getting a mod that offers something that you might never use.
Again, thank you @Myrany for coming in when you did and offering your advice.

Hi, Diver! I was off watching Charlie Rose and after seeing a few of our best minds discussing the human genome, I thought I'd play some music and unwind so I sleep better tonight. I like checking mail before I ... turn myself in for the night!!!!!
Thanks for more info. There is so much out there and no reason for me to rush quite yet -- I hope!!! :) I have no idea how these online companies will be able to keep up with supply and demand if things change so rapidly in the vape world. I hope they don't raise the prices just because they can! They hopefully will not play on people's fears of not being able to purchase what they enjoy to vape. I have no idea how they could interfere and tamper with the happiness of others.

If ping pong balls were banned because a privileged wealthy group thought they were too flammable for the everyman to play with, there is no way they'd get away with it. Well, powerful groups do not have to explain their actions. We were not allowed a plebiscite, but we should demand we have the right to one. Or maybe vaping could declare itself a corporation (or religion) and purchase a corporate veil! I have been interested in impersonating the FDA and big tobacco just like The Yes Men (Jacques Servin and Igor Vamos). They are my heroes! I watched and studied their antics for months and months! The Yes Men Fix the World. I wonder why no one took it in that direction? I'd love to behave as blatantly as them in order to mirror corruption just long enough for people to see through the transparency of this entire sideshow they have created. Culture jamming is a specialty.

It may take me a while to figure out what to buy, but as long as I have time, I am not worried. I appreciate the input sooo much! I am happy to read what other people are using! I have been vaping for four years and five months and tried all the flavors out there and to this day have my own tastes that I am sure other people would dislike as much as I can't stand fruit and sweet stuff. I went right back to my earliest experience of cigs, which was menthol!!! Even though I switched to Carlton 100s for years, I went right back to the first days of smoking Kools (I hated capitalizing that!). I must have sampled every flavor out there by now. I love my menthol juice! I think vaping apple or cherry is nauseatingly sweet! It does not make me happy! I don't need much, but I know one other person from back east who thinks my menthols are just too strong and she vapes 16 mg nicotine, go figure! I saw a car recently while driving with my husband and the vapor in the car was so thick I do not know how he could see the road! I am certain I don't want that!

I'll spend time looking at this as if I am writing a term paper!!! I could have fun and learn what is out there, but there is sooo much out there it makes it complicated! I am happy for all the help and any ideas. The definitions alone will take some time. I have to be more objective about this and not as if I am adopting a child!!! I am certain everything will come out all right.

I know I have posted this in other iterations of this thread but I thought I would post it again as we have some new people who may not know about the impending FDA deeming regulations of doom. In short if the proposed regulations go into place as is, any vaping device post 2007 is gone. Eliquid manufacturers are gone. WHat would be required to get liquids and devices approved through the new process would be nearly impossible for most makers of eliquid and devices to manage (the estimate I heard was 3.3 million dollars for ever single flavor and small bit of gear).

That mean Vapocalypse prepping is a very real thing. Here is my personal take on the prepping so take with as main salt grains as you like.

1. Learn to DIY eliquid. This includes safety in doing so. Which flavors are safe. Nic handling etc.

2. Learn to rebuild atomizers. How do I make a safe coil? How do I attach it safely? Will this coil work with this battery device? etc.

3. start laying in the requisite supplies to achieve 1 & 2 for the foreseeable future.
- get quality sustainable devices the most sustainable are mechanical devices but those require more knowledge. This means user replaceable batteries as well.
- get rebuildable tanks and drippers and learn to rebuild them
- lay in a supply of nicotine if you use it as this will be the choke point. PG/VG and food flavorings they can't put out of business without killing candy making and baking

Al lof those things require homework on your part and learning things that look scary on the surface but once you get the hang of are really not all that difficult. There are many here in this thread or on ECF in general willing and able to lend a hand in the learning process.
Excellently put! What do you think about certain tools such as coil jigs... they may survive, but since jewelry making uses the artistic and ones like that I dunno about things like coil master.

Do the MVPs have replaceable batteries now? They didn't used to.
duhhhh brain fart......thanks for the correction!

I could really use a Black Friday sale at RTD Vapor.
meeeeeee toooooooooo!! I need 18650's....some 18490's.....and some 16340's now I think. Need to spend a small fortune on batts, and I sure would like a new charger.

Want a laugh? I never used a coil jig until I got the coil masters kit in that coil building tool kit the other day. OMG I LOVE THIS THING!!!!! It make coil winding so much easier on my messed up hands. I just didn't want to list every little tool for coil building and DIY mixing in that post. Get the basics first is sort of my take on things.

Who says older folk can't vape like the kids[emoji12] Tremendous vapor and flavor. The Ti wire really is fantastic. Richer vape than kanthal and in TC mode never a worry about a dry hit. The mod will not fire if the wick gets dry. Really amazing.

Well done! And great pictures too! :headbang:

Why is it I always come back to ECF in time for a FDA crises that sets off my panic attacks? I am cursed!

Well given some reading I have been doing all day today I think my plans on what to buy today has changed slightly. With the FDA from hades impending even closer I decided to go for quality. I will be getting a 2nd provari(known durability) + a Kanger subtank mini ordered tomorrow. Then if I like that tank I will be picking 3-4 more. I have a good supply of mechs and rdas so I am not so worried about that. Also planning on another liter of nic for the freezer. At that point I am set I think.

If things go down the way folks think it will. I wont be vaping in public (or driving) anyway. The real important thing to me is being able to continue vaping.

This is scary stuff folks. BTW Dimitri is going to be talking about all this stuff(the FDA) with Bill Godshall tonight on VPLive.
Nah, not cursed at all just an overwhelming need to be well informed (and a need to visit with your friends). :)

thanks for this!! Missed the first 40 minutes, but got it on now

VS..... The VP Live Network
You can go back and get the earlier episodes or anything you missed that you think you might like to see, Busardo's buddy Demetri has a show on the network, unless that's what your referring to now.

I use an old Weller iron with tiny tips in it. Made up a box with a light dimmer in it that goes between the iron and the wall outlet. Used an infrared therm to make temp calibration marks on the light dimmer to control the temp. Works like a champ and I have used many high end soldering stations in my life.

My good Weller TC soldering station was stolen a few years ago.

And the inline light dimmer box I made up works with any soldering iron. It is temp calibrated for the little Weller though.
Of course I could use my 200 watt Weller Iron, but it is huge. I use it for soldering sheet metal.

Cold heat is an oxymoron! No such thing. And no offense intended at all but the reviews seem to be rather bad.:evil:= Hot Heat! :w00t:
It is a gimmicky garbage thing if I remember correctly uses hot air to melt the solder or somesuch.

Hi, David: I can't believe I missed your post or replied to the wrong person. I keep seeing the boxes and they remind me of a Zippo with a weird attachment. Their clouds also remind me of the "shotgun" scene from Outside Providence by the Farrelly Brothers! I like the tube best. Have a good night! :)

It happens :)

But.... your CFIV is a box... They do come in all sorts of sizes and shapes...

Here's one $34.73 Ola X HERO 30W Variable Wattage VW APV Box Mod - 7-30W / 1*18650 / aluminum alloy + stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

and another option for a tube $49.38 "SALE" Authentic Innokin iTaste SVD 2.0 Variable Wattage APV Mod - 18350/18650 / 5.0-20.0W / stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Great idea but, if I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be, not unheard of) the cost of a good IR thermometer is close to the cost of a cheaper decent soldering station. Neither of which I have but, both of which I want!

Two carbon elements that pass a current though either the tab your soldering to or the solder itself as far as I can figure.

David, we should probably warn her that Fasttech is better named Slowtech. Nothing fast about their shipping unless they've changed recently. Great prices, fairly decent stuff, really slow shipping. Good, cheap, fast, pick two cause you can't have em all!
