26 gauge 10 wraps 2mm 1.2Ω

Wow, when you said you had a leg length of 27mm, I thought that must be wrong, but I had forgotten you're using the post holes for the legs. I would really consider trying to use the screws rather than the post holes. The reason is that your legs are long, so you'll be pumping out a lot of heat that doesn't make it to the wick. I know it's trickier to deal with the screw, but if you wrap the leg all the way around it, you should be be able to get it tightened down securely, and don't worry too much about the coil getting out of whack when you do that. You can straighten the coil out with your screwdriver (or whatever you wrapped it with) after both legs are screwed down.

Of course, if it's working well for you the way it is, then no need to change it. But, next time you try rebuilding, you might want to give that a shot.

Had a go at going through the holes these first couple of times because the rda was so difficult getting the wires to hold without crushing them.

Like the end has a point to it. The lemo grabs them secure only screwing down halfway.

Yes as usual you are correct - I think it says theres a 20% or so leg power loss.

Next time I'll give the screws a go.

Is anyone twisting their entire length of cotton or just the end that you poke through the coil ?

Wondering if all rayon is equal - lately mine seems to either be like rope or like individual strands that full apart easily and i have to gently push them together.

Finding it not so easy to pull away an amount the thickness i want.

Well at least she has found something she likes. Don't blame her about not wanting an army of tanks. Plus then you have to remember what is in which tank. Perhaps getting one of those cheapo little test atomizers would help. Can't remember the exact name. Someone will come up with the name. You just put in about 5 drops to get a taste of what the juice is like and then try something else. No wick to worry about. The name totally eludes me at the moment.

Going to fall asleep in my chair si I'll wish you a good night/day and see you tomorrow. :)
Are you referring to a bridgeless atomizer? I use 510 bridgeless ones to test flavor...

Take the vaping survey
Vaping Truth Poll. Real People. Real Answers. | Polldaddy.com

the more the better, I think. Seems like gov regulation and news lies are top concerns going into 2015.

Thanks for posting the link. Just took the survey :)

A thing that I find interesting is the emphasis on smoking illnesses related to pulmonary function. While I appreciate the linkage, pulmonary impairment is hardly the only risk; the number one risk factor associated with bladder cancer is smoking. Sadly, I learned that the hard way. Ah yes -- but if I lived on the left coast, I could use the leafy green stuff to mitigate the side effects of chemo. That only took 30+ years to become law, because as we all know, green leafy stuff is a gateway drug. As are soft drinks.

This whole legislative conversation just makes me sad. Perhaps regulators could focus on job creation, immigration reform, foreign policy ... You know, that pesky little stuff!

While agitation is not only appropriate and desired, what's being referenced is the Governor's proposed budget. The State legislative session is still a ways off, and there are already pols of the other party taking deep exceptions to what's seen as bad for business.

It's a long way from being "law", there's major opposition in many areas against tax increases, and we do need to start getting ready now to contact all the right people. It's very similar (haven't done a side by side reading) to the bill that failed last year in relation to the ecig industry and consumer, even to the "ban internet sales." Uh, I thought the ICC of the Feds regulated interstate commerce... silly me.

Oh, and we don't have a state income tax, so they can't make us declare our purchases there. Yet.

Sounds to me like the governor is an anti business idiot.

I've been on the Porches very sporadically over the last week. Mom is being very demanding every time I try to sit down & log on. It's like as soon as she hears me clicking she wants me to do something, or go somewhere for her. She has spells of this & it just wears me out! I do have a little vapity stuff going on, tho. A friend on another thread gifted me this:

View attachment 398154

I just received it today & am completely blown away by her generosity! She included a Sony VTC4, & the KFL+ v2, 28g Kanthal, screwdriver, a needle (16g, I think) for wrapping coils, & rayon for wicking! She even had a coil already in it for me! Now I need to figure out the rayon wicking. I have a few pads of KGD, too. I'm hoping Santa brings me gift cards so I can get an Ohms meter, (need recommendations, please), more KGD, more Kayfuns probably.....what am I forgetting? Battery charger....what & where can I get batteries to replace the Sony VCT4 or 5? I'm waaaaaaaaay under even 20 watts so I guess 4's would be ok, that's what she sent with it.

Wow! Nice friend!

I've been pleased w/ this ohm meter. It's readings and my DVM match up pretty good. And while you're there, RTD is also a good place to shop for batts. As long as your not build sub-ohm coils almost any of the top name batts will be good and safe to use.

Looking good there Wolf. You do like that fat wire though. I didn't like the lag time (heat up/cool down) of 26g. Do you get hot legs with them being relatively long to reach the holes instead of using the screws. I'd be concerned about that.

Is anyone twisting their entire length of cotton or just the end that you poke through the coil ?

If you're using the Sally's CC that comes in a 'rope', I've heard many folks talk about the inconsistency of it's density along its length. They say they look for a section w/ consistent density and make their wicks from that section.

I use rayon balls from Delasco. It's texture is slightly different than the Sallys. The down side is you have to unroll the 'balls' and that's a bit fiddley. But once done I can get a consistent section of it for wicking.

OK ... everyone ready to try the latest ... Introducing "FiberFreaks"

YouTube has a bunch of video's about it too.

Think I'll print up some fancy package labels and go in business with this brand new invention!

I've seen similar packaging at a local B&M, though without all the hype about super sterile via a new process. I guess that would be the way to go, since I always put my cigs in the autoclave before use...

I'll twirl most of it, although only the tip gets twisted really tight. Helps to establish the consistent thickness. Then, after insertion through the coil, I'll un-twist.

And while I do use the Cellucotton from Sally's, and there are some variations in the "rope," since I'm pulling off a portion anyway, there's just some sections that will give me 4 wicks (on a 2 mm ID coil), and some I only get 3.

I start with about a 2" length for KF coils. Longer than I need, but easier to work with. Pull off a bit more than I think I need and twist it to "rope" for inspection. If needed, pull some off that to get to the right size. Moisten and taper the end to push through, untwist.

This reminds me of GPlat, which is just 317L stainless steel welding wire with some fancy packaging and hype. Now they're doing it with rayon. Well, at least they've solved the problem of what to do with 500 feet of cellucotton rayon from Sally's.

Have any of you seen the new tool available for the KFL or Russian to be able to work on your coil or wick without having to drain the juice? The one I liked best was SS and only available in the UK. Busardo put it in one of his videos and it looks like a great idea. It slides into the top of the chimney just under the driptip the when you remove the ase of the KFL it slides up and you just leave it in till you are done holding the remaining juice plus it guides the chimney back through the Oring, no more trying to get the threads straight. It costs around $10.

hey all, wow you guys are a massive inspiration! I wish my parents knew about this. I am 44, I hope I am allowed to stay and chat. I have been smoking since I was 17 on and off (mostly off when pregnant or sick) rest of time full on smoker. I hope I am still allowed to sit on your porch. I was with my Nan in 2012 when she took her last breath because of emphasemia or COPD from smoking all her life. I have tried since then to find something that will work for me and my mum (shes only 63) I have been vaping on and off since 2011 its been hard finding the right gear and flavours to keep me focused. I am now back to full time vaping and happy with Volt gear, I want to show my mum next time she visits that this can work.

Welcome to the porch Dyanne. We make a point of NOT checking ID's at the door. Find yourself a comfy looking rocker and sit a spell. I am sure there will be a few more folks stopping by in a bit to Welcome you. I am the quiet one so you will find me sitting over there on the edge of the porch listening to all the chatter. :D

Notice I didn't "like" his post. Of course I know he's been thinking about it because he keeps asking me if I want one...

I keep asking my wife if she wants a ProVari but it's not to talk her into letting me get one! I already have 4! It's just to get her into something better that the Ego battery's she insists on using even though they are constantly dying or on the charger!

I really want to be apart of this chat, main reason when my mum comes to stay with me next she can see long time smokers like ourselves can switch! and I want to show her by doing it myself too! She already uses inhalers and is short of breath and she was also with me when her mum passed (my nan) I do not want to sound depressing I want to share the changes you have all made and it has given me hope just by reading a few pages with her. Thank you

As long as you're older today than you were yesterday, have a seat :)

And if you're not, and still typing, let us know how you managed that

Good for you - both in making the switch and in wanting to help mom.

I agree, a big part is finding hardware and flavors that do the trick for you. And having enough backups to never have to worry about equipment failure. :toast:
