Been awhile since I've tried to help anyone.......but here goes my attempt.

first.....double check to make sure that what you received were 1.6 ohm coils. I don't know if they laser etched them on the heads, but you can find it on the bar code on the box.......very tiny print, but it's there. Be aware that we're dealing with factories and mass production. Coils may vary +.1 or -.1 straight out of the box. Add to that a variable between different mods in just how accurately (or not) that they may read it. I use a nautilus with a 1.8 ohm head. Same tank put on 3 different mods gives me a reading of 1.9.....2.0.....1.9. In addition to that variation......I have different wattage settings on each mod to achieve the same...or close.....vaping experience. You might want to try bumping up your watt setting to 8.0 or 8.5 with the ohm reading you have. For me anything set too low feels as if I need to charge the battery.....and that may be why you're feeling it takes too long for it to warm up. I have my mods set from 8.5 to 9.0 watts for a 1.8 ohm ?....lol.....coil.

On to the saturated wick and following puffs....if talking about a new coil, even though you may have waited a bit for the wick to saturate.....take a few puffs with out firing the button on the mod to help pull that juice into it.

The flooding issue can be a couple of things. If you just filled the tank....just a tad overfull. The other thing I've found....condensation that builds up in the center tube and drip tip. When ever I refill, I swab out that center post/tube, and run a pipe cleaner from the drip tip all the way through. You'll be surprised how much has accumulated there, and that will drip back down onto your coil .

As to whether or not you want another MVP 3.0....or something else.....welcome to the adventure and the never ending search for the perfect mod/tank/rba combo that suits YOU !!
Thank you so much for stepping up Yiddle. I did see that printed in the coil, but didn't think about increasing the watts relative to the ohms reading. It does make it seem the battery is low. I fill my tanks to the mark but not over...well maybe a bit more..I dunno. I thought I was cleaning pretty good with a q-tip. I'll get some pipe cleaners. Makes a lot of sense. Hahaha! On the ceaseless journey! I'll keep you posted and keep reading the forum to see what folks are raving over ;)

Problem:

Cause:

High PG juice and low wattage is flooding your coils. It can't atomize all the juice that's being wicked at 7.5 watts. And it will certainly take longer to warm up at that wattage. I use mine every day at 12 watts with 50/50 juice. Never a problem. I think you need to at least try 10 -12 watts. You could probably do 15 with that thin juice you are vaping.
That's two votes to turn up the heat. Thx. :thumb:

Fer sum reason multi-quote isn't workin' fer moi, so...

As for a Nautilus leaking (assuming air hole leakage),

- head loose
- tank loose
- over filling (joose in tube)

As for a harsh hit with a supposedly 'saturated' wick,

- really not saturated
- wrong air hole selected (smaller the hole, the more joose is 'introduced' per inhale)

I agree with increasing the wattage with the appropriate air hole selection. I'm vaping 60PG/40VG at 13 watts and the second smallest air port. If I note a 'drop' in performance, I will go to the next largest sized air port prior to head replacement.

Please keep us up to date with your progress, or lack thereof! BTW, it isn't rocket surgery or brain science. Good luck...

Thanks Iffy! I'm not having leaking problems. Not at all. That impresses me about this tank. I vape with the largest hole wide open. Since my questions were posed, I turned up the watts to 10.5 and already seeing a huge difference. It cuts down on the flavor a tad, but works like a charm. I'll go higher, if needed.

I've mixed me up a Capella clone of the Betelgeuse and plan to try it out tonight.

I definitely think she needs to up the wattage.....but soooo hard to give any specific settings. with my 1.8 ohm coils and the particular juice I'm using which has a 70/30 pg/vg ratio....AND the particular mods I'm using....over 10 watts starts giving me a burnt juice taste. Same juice put into an Atlantis sub ohm tank.... .5 ohm coil......I vape at 20 - 20.5 watts.....tastes great. Everything needs experimentation to find the best settings and taste ;)

The only times I've experienced flooding was due to the 2 things I mentioned, even with my juice ratio

My point is not being able to adjust. Just vape. For the newbie... chop up the learning curve to something manageable. Ego did it for me.
If he were by himself, I'd also say an ego.....but rare is the person who starts with an ego. an Istick is still pretty much set it and forget it, and the son can help him set it. That's why I suggested that, it'll give him room to grow should he choose to. Personally I won't use anything I can't change the battery in, but wouldn't necessarily recommend that for someone starting out. Istick is easy, son can help him get his wattage, and is there for any questions. So I think that would be good to start with and give him room to grow as he learns more without having to replace it. I never recommend nautilus tanks for beginners, cuz there really can be issues, just like susan is having now. The vivi nova bottom fill tanks have great flavor and are just fill and vape, no issues.

Going to the crafts store to see if they have those tensioned coil winding thingys.
I decided not to get one. I like the coil master, and even Russ tried the coil master and said he liked it better than the tensioned coils. So that saved me some money.

E-Cig Replacement Heads, E-Cigarette Cartridges - MyFreedomSmokes The coupon code is...JUNE40COIL...it's good til 6/8. "Discount applies max quantity 2 each product" :)
Thanks hun as usual I forgot to look up the code after I said I would

I just don't get it. If I go too much over 9w on my 1.8Ω coil, I get a burnt taste and dry hits.
Is it that I only buy devices that lie about the power? Or do I not know what 50/50 really means?

My 2 cents on a new vaper. Ego + a simple tank. Preferably 3+ EGOs (650 mah but you can get away with 2 of the 1000 mah ones) for a 2 pack a day smoker. Keep it simple. There is time later for bigger investments in gear after they know it works for them.

BTW if anyone is looking for high nic juice readily available nearly anywhere in the US take a look at the HAUS stuff. Walgreens carrys it. (Stay away from the berry. It is yummy but gums up a coil in less than one tank.) I particularly like the grape, watermelon and pineapple. The menthol is not bad. It is 25 mg (Don't judge. High nic has kept me sane). BTW the coils that come in the HAUS tanks can be recoiled exactly like a protank rebuild though they have a much skinnier chimney so they are not interchangeable with protank.

I had a small snicker at the 1000 mile CE4 comment someone made. Some of my CE4s and CE5s quite literally have 1000+ miles on them given how much driving I have been doing.

See I still only drive with an EGO + CE. My Provari + Protank (1 or 2) and REOs + RM2s are only for home use.

Everyone that vapes has to find what works for them best. Start simple and see if it works at all. Then make an investment into something better. Even so there is no crime in STAYING simple.

You could try the wide open air for a bit, then cut it back where you like it for a while. I think the constant use on one of those small holes could contribute to pulling in more juice than needed. You don't have to set it in one place and leave it.

I adjust the airflow on my Subtank pretty often based on how it's hitting. Sometimes it can start getting dry when I chain vape so I cut back the airflow and it gets the wick saturated again. It's never flooded but if it did, I'd vape it with highest airflow and another watt or two higher until it stopped flooding.

I'll see how it goes with it. Was having problems with my 26ga wire getting cut by setscrews. It got really frustrating to put in all that time on a dual coil build and then have to do it over at the end because the wire got cut so I bought some 24 today. Much easier to work with. I wrapped one on the shaft of a hex wrench and the other with the gizmo. The gizmo coil was better looking so it's an improvement and I don't even have a clasp to hold the wire yet (I got tacos instead). Where I really get into trouble now is being clumsy and messing up the coils while installing them. The build worked good, though. Vaping some Strawberry Mojo in it right now.

IDK, I keep reading on here people vape their Subtanks at 30 watts and their coils last two weeks. I can't make either one of those happen. I'd get burnt hits and the coils gunk / wicks dry hit after 5-6 tanks. All these settings and results seem to vary quite a bit based on what I read.

Get a screwdriver with the same OD as your chosen size, and slide it into the coil to hold it while mounting to the base.

Hi Ya'll

I've been lurking and looking but haven't found the sign-up sheet or the club rules page. Where do I go to sign up at ? This looks like a nice little group ya'll have here. What are the dues, monthly meetings, weekly ? Dress code maybe ? I'm almost 65, smoked Cig's, Cigars, Pipe, Redman Chewing Tobacco (but NO Skol thank you) for 52 years. Been Vape'in since August of 14', had a Heart attach in January, now on ALL kinds of pills, drink about 9 cans of Pepsi a day (no alcohol anymore, these pills you know), am an Arthritic (since my early 20's), what else, TMI ? Anyways, Hello !!

That is me, too, Myrany! I started with Ego's & Aro2's, then went to mini PT2's. That's what I still drive with.

Welcome Mr 52...... <<puts on treasurer hat>> I can collect your dues, cuz I'm nice like that lol here on the front porch we have to keep as much as we can to vaping subjects, but on our back porch (included with same dues) we can talk about anything. Pull up a rocker, set a spell......tell us stories. Glad you survived your heart attack, but sorry ya had one. back porch Older Folks and Vaping Back Porch - Part Three | Page 432 | E-Cigarette Forum

Welcome, 52, but of course, the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42, and you hit the jackpot. Your found the signup sheet, are automatically signed up, and the dues will be automatically subtracted on the 32nd of every month, so that's all taken care of. :)

We're supposed to keep this front porch mostly vape related, and have a back porch down in the ECF Lounge where we're a bit more free-form. (And sometimes free-for-all!) That's over at Older Folks and Vaping Back Porch - Part Three | Page 432 | E-Cigarette Forum

Glad to hear that you're well away from cigs, not so good about the heart, but at least vaping you're taking some of the stressors off.
