Thanks for the welcome. I'm new to vaping for about 6 weeks. Using Kanger Evod2. Have been through about 7 different ejuice said and just can't find one that I really like. All of them seem to have a bitter/sour aftertaste. Started out with 7mg nic, recently went to 18 hoping that would keep me from the analogs. 50 year smoker here and 2 pack per day for the last 12 years. I really feel that if I can find an irresistible flavor I will ditch the analogs, but for now, I can honestly say the analogs have no taste. Am sure there are chemicals in me to mask the bad taste though. Found that all of the B&M shops I've been to have pretty young people working there and I wonder if the mixers are paying attention to what they are doing.

At this point I suspect PG is what is giving me a problem and none of my mixes are less than 50 pg/50vg. I think the majority are higher Vg than Pg. just can't buy a new bottle every day!

Hiya @Isabelle49!

Finding "the" flavor has been an elusive chase for me. I've just been fortunate enough to find a LOT of flavors that don't suck ;) That, and I make my own now :D

I knew early on that I wasn't going to go for tobacco flavors. For the most part, I've stayed that course. I have a couple of tobacco mixes at the moment, but they're covered by a lot of other flavors (almond/cherry in one, and caramel/vanilla in the other.) Fruits, vanillas, chocolates, bakery - YUMMO (but that's what I like to eat, so it's a natural extension for me.)

Glad you're here - the Porchers are very kind, warm and welcoming. They even let me come in and play once in a while :D

Hi Back Porch vapers. Glad to meet you. I see there was a 70 year wedding anniversary, WOW!!! Our 35th is in a few weeks, so we are half way there. At our age I'm not so sure we will see 70, but we will keep on truckin'!
Welcome, Isabelle, & belated Happy Anniversary!

Hi Isabelle49 and welcome to the front porch. Happy early anniversary. Glad you decided to stop in. Flavor has been elusive for me, too. When I first started I couldn't taste anything, however, I could tell what was pleasing and what wasn't. I have been enjoying the pleasing and waiting for my taste to fully recover from 45+ years of tobacco in one form or another. I am still chasing flavor and have found a couple that I really enjoy. I, like a few others here, make my own juice from which I have discovered I like fruits and creams. I have a favorite B&M that I visit and try their different flavors. I then find out what it is and come home and experiment trying to replicate the flavor. Again, welcome, pull up a chair of your choice and relax.

What flavors are those that you've tried?

Hi Kenna, the flavors are: vanilla custard (3 different stores), peppermint, blueberry pastry, melon/watermelon, tobacco expresso. They all seem to have a bitter aftertaste, which is a real turn off. I can dull, that taste by adding a little VG but it still seems to come through off and on.

Try steeping them. Fresh juices sometimes have a taste that is described differently by different people. Just shake them up A LOT, until you see a ton of little bubbles floating in the bottles. Then pull the tips off, leave the lid off & let them sit a couple of hours. Put them back together again, shake real good again, & just let them sit a few days. Then try them again. The chemically stuff evaporates off, & the flavors "marry" & majic happens! If you have sime you haven'triwd in a few days, go back & try them again. Your problem might be fixed just by time alone.

Finding a 'likable' flavor in the beginning can be frustrating. I was smoking close to 3PPD when I finally switched to vaping after 45 years of smoking. My taste buds were beyond shot. No matter the flavor of the juice I only tasted 'bad' and 'ok' and I couldn't tell you what flavor I was vaping. So for the 1st couple-few months I stuck with the 'OK' flavors (which for me were mild tobacco flavs) and concentrated on switching my habits from smoking to vaping. Once my taste buds started responding then I went to and still with fruit flavors.

Perchance are all your juices from the same vendor? If so, then trying another brand juice might help eliminate the bitter aftertaste.

I'll second what Kenna said, but also if you've noticed that it gets worse over time, could be time to change a coil if it's been awhile since you've done that. also like Mike said, could just be your tastebuds waking up a bit

Surely one or more of those shops has taste testers? (And if you like a flavor in the shop but not at home, like Deb says, might be time for a new coil or wick. Or at least a clean and dry burn.)

I found both flavor and the right nic level were essential for me.

Wow! 70 years! Amazing!

Sounds like you had a great time. Welcome back!
70 years is amazing, and because they had to wait over 10 years for me to ambush and dominate their lives, they married solely for love. That's a joke, as usual. My cousin "had" to marry but they've been going strong for over 50 years.
wow, that's freaky. I could see if it was just a battery, but didn't think a spinner would do that. Welcome home, and sooooooo glad the anny party was such a huge success!! And so glad you were able to get the parachute!!! Jup, hope sloth is doin ok, sure wish he'd come in
Time to drop that delinquent sloth a line and tell him to get his .... in here. On tomorrow's list of things to get done. ;)
it was a spinner that did the auto-fire on me... I had to take it apart to get it to stop. Glad your's is OK though.
I remember that now. Eek! I'm actually glad now that people share those (endless) stories about mods blowing, shorting, auto-firing, etc. because I just went damage control mode without even getting excited about it. Very lucky the first remedy worked. Didn't want a headline stating the new 800,000 wildfire that burnt two towns to ground was started by a malfunctioning ecig.
sounds like the button got stuck kinda sideways. I have heard of that happening, especially with the soft buttons.
I put it down button up and that's how it stayed until it auto-fired. It's always been a solid performer with no problems, so on and so forth. Haven't dropped it. The only explanation is the keys, which freaks me out. Been using it for the last 24 hours with no problems. Okay, I snuck a ProVari in there for a while, but the Spinner has been flawless since then.
Wife and I just passed our 40th, and like you, well, we'll have to be really old to make 70 -- but it's possible, and more possible since I quit smoking and switched to vaping!
Congratulations! Found the photo too. ;)

I posted, then got a heads up from Omg & deleted it!
Were you able to sell it yet? It's a nice one!

Congratulations on your 35th wedding anniversary!

Standard warning about joining the porches: Beware of any rocker cushion Iffy offers you, he's partial to pin and whoopee cushions. Keep an eye out for Deb's frying pan, she can be lethal with that thing but it's usually reserved for the men. Robert swears he's sat on stray bits of kanthal left on the floor.

What the others have said about juice but also, your taste buds are going to change after you quit. What you don’t like now, you may well love on down the road so don’t toss them. You’ve also got that lovely thing called vaper’s tongue to look forward to where you can’t taste any of them. That’s a good time to vape anything you really despise.

Have you tried E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes Online | E Juice - Mt Baker Vapor ? They have pretty inexpensive liquids and you can vary the PG/VG and flavor ratio when you order. Many of them do need a week or so steeping time so you don’t need to try them all the day they arrive. It’s an inexpensive way to try a bunch of flavors and they send a free sample along with any order over $10-20.

Don't sweat it. It took me almost five months to completely quit the cigarettes. Some people have no problem, others of us struggle. Don't get frustrated. There is a big learning curve, worse than Everest, but you will absorb the information. Do not feel intimidated about asking any questions no matter how stupid you may feel they are. We don't think they are stupid, we've all been there. Here, and throughout ECF, we don't hold the cigarettes smoked, we celebrate the ones not smoked. You will do fine.
