I've been lurking around this thread and finally decided to join in. I'm 62and had been smoking for over 40 years. I had quit trying to quit. Then I ended up disabled and pretty much stuck in the recliner all day. I'd been down to about a pack a day from two or more when I was younger, but it turned out that a lot of that reduction was from not being able to smoke at work. Next thing I know I'm over a pack and a half and heading back toward two. And since we're now both home all day it's starting to really bother my husband.

So I knew all of the quitting methods that hadn't worked, and I started checking around the web and next thing I knew I'd found this place. Got some great advice on a starting set-up that I could deal with physically and afford to buy. And here I am.

Anyhow, the whole point of the long introduction was to say that yep, I vape constantly. Way more than I smoked. But that's fine by me. I am saving some money (mostly because I can't afford all of the pretty toys I'd like to get) and my husband is happier. I have to admit that I still want to smoke, but since I don't get out and about much it's easier to order more vapemail than it is to go to town for cigarettes.

Hi and a big Welcome to our place on ECF. So glad you 'came out' and shared your story with us. Sounds like you're getting off to a good start. You've likely heard it before - but it's probably worth repeating. Don't knock yourself for 'still wanting a smoke' - afterall it was a life long habbit, but IT WILL PASS. Congratulate your self for making the switch and all the ones you're not smoking.

Welcome Amoret! Glad you found us and glad you found vaping. Sounds like you've got a good start on your journey. It's not unusual to still want a cigarette from time to time. It might help to vape a higher nic during those times. You don't have to just stick to 1 level of nic all the time, many use a higher nic for times when the urge is strong to have a cig. Or it might simply be a matter of vaping a little more through the urge. Hang in there, you're doing fine!

Hi Amoret and welcome!! I vaped and smoked for a few weeks and then didn't want a cigarette any longer. About two weeks later, I bummed a cigarette off my wife and I did not enjoy it at all. Yaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy!! She still smokes and I can't get over how nasty they smell. I feel bad that I inflicted that on others for so long.

The MVP (make sure it's the V2 for extra features) is a solid device, and at 2600 mAh on it, you likely wouldn't vape it down too quickly :)

It's actually smaller than it looks, smaller than a pack of those Salems. And the box is nice if at a desk or recliner.

Maybe not "right out of the box"...but did you eventually become "accustomed" to the shape and the weight of the MVP2?

I "need" VW and ohms meter...and love my iTaste v3's. But I can see the advantage of having a device with more mAh's.

I looked at the eGo-V v3 Mega (VW, ohms meter, 1300 mAh) but am unwilling to return (I started out with eGo-C's) to using that "primitive" eGo firing button 300-1000 times a day.

Welcome Amoret, as others have said...there is a lot of experience around here! After almost 2 years off the stinkies...I'm learning more about these Vaporizers everyday! I never say NEVER, but I will say it'll be a cold day in July before I go back to the stinkies.

Vaping has become more enjoyable to me after warming up to some of the sweeter flavors and after I quit looking to duplicate the taste of the stinkies (never found 'em). YMMV

It's a journey, you will find your acceptable substitute, maybe you already have. One thing, though, you may find that you like switching flavors from time to time...pretty sure most here would agree. :D

The MVP is pretty comfortable to hold, although not everyone likes boxes.. weight isn't bad at all, less than my SVD :)

And the V2 MVP adds ohm check, VW, and all the rest. (Mine is the V1.5, with the ego threads, but VV only)

Also have the VV3, and the eGo V3, both of which are solid performers with all the bells and whistles. I find the VV3 capacity too small for other than backup / alternate flavor when I'm not at home, the V3, at 1300 can handle over a day for me, and prefer it to my 1300 Spinners for the extra features. I generally use a lanyard with those (well, not the VV3!), and by stretching it out when I pull the device out of my pocket, I find the button is perfectly placed just opposite the cord.

Amoret .. always great to see a new face in these parts ..

I'll do this under my "12 Step" umbrella .. Hi, I'm Willie and I'm an Addict ...

I'll tell my brief story (which I'm sure "The Regulars" here are sick and tired of)

I bought an NJOY kit back in the Dark Ages when Men still pulled Women along by the hair with a Bone Thru Their Nose .. paid about $125 clams for it .. tried and tried and tried to stay with it, but disposable cartos had to be ordered, it was actually more expensive than analogs, etc ..

Set it aside .. so one day months later, I'm nosing around the Web and hit ECF .. I remember it well as I suddenly got sucked into this amazing vortex of information .. and this was several years ago, while the site was still relatively small .. at any rate, I posted the usual newbie questions .. and got some help on how to refill the NJOY carts I had hoarded as well as advice on larger capacity 510 Riva batteries .. in fact, I'm pretty sure it was classwife that took my hand back then ..

Long story short .. I took the advice .. bought the better batteries, began experimentation with cartos and mail order liquid (of which there was very little back then compared to now) ..

In that time, I've had 5 analogs .. each time when my friend Jack Daniels weakened my resolve .. the last one I bummed was July 4th, 2013 at a party .. I took two puffs, stobbed it out and said "I can't believe I smoked these things day in and day out for 45+ years ..

So hang in there, my friend ..

Any other old f&@#$ feel more like a kid when vaping? It's so much fun sometimes, as a hobby, it kind of reminds me of playing with matches -- for the record, no I did not turn out to be an arsonist. Something about it really makes me feel, well not young, I'm too old to feel that way anymore, but more childlike. Like I'm tinkering with an erector set or something. Helluva good passtime when you're getting too old to pass the time any other way.

Anyone try vaping Preparation H?

I'll pass on that one. :D

I was doing a lot of 'playing' with my 'toys' making my own ceramic wicks, boiling and boiling then vaping w/ hemp wick, etc. But lately I'm just using Davide's. Fill 'em up / change batts/ and vape on.

Very anxious tonight, for some reason. Broke out my 6mg for emergencies.

The thread protector I got for my Vamo is not working with my clearos. Does anyone use one, and where did they get it and what kind?

Anxioity attacks is why I need to stay between 4 and 6 myself. Wish you didn't have issues, but at least you can take it in short doses. Hope you feel better soon!

Are you talking about a thread adaptor? Here's a picture of some where you might be able to figure out which type you need. I use the 510 to eGo adaptor to use my Evod on my Rider Robust. I think this is what you need for your Vamo? Somebody else who knows more about this will probably chime in because I don't really know a lot about it. Check out these pictures and see if you can pick out one that you're trying to use.

Are you just looking for an eGo to 510 adapter like this:

I've gotten them various places - Ikenvape, ecigcharleston, Provape, Mapvapes. Don't know that one is really better than another.

It is odd, but I have some clearos that work fine on the one twist I have left, but not on the adapter. They don't quite screw down right on the adapter. I might just have to order some replacement CE5 bases from Eric. My BCC's and mini Davides's work fine. I think it is those threadings that are going wonky. I just don't know how many I will have to order. They are cheap enough.

However, my attys for dripping definitely don't work on the adapter at all-- but do on the Vamo and twist. Which is why the subject came up. I decided to set aside the twist for dripping at panicky times.
