Here is the cotton I used for the over-wick...it does look like the cotton wick in the link for .99 cents doesn't it?

Seriously - what kind of wire do yah use to wrap that coil? Can you do just ... say 4 turns of 32 gauge ... and be in the "safe" zone or do yah really have to get that meter to check it out? Just guessin at the "4" since that's what I think I saw on it!

Nichrome and Kanthal are your two choices - Kanthal is probably more popular. It's supposed to hold up better than nichrome. The number of wraps to get a 'given' Ω'ed coil will depend on the gauge/type of wire and the diameter of the wick you are wrapping it around.

If the factory coil only had 4 wraps it was likely a higher gauge (thinner) wire and probably nichrome. It will take some trial and error to know how many wraps to use on your DIY setup. I'd suggest an inexpensive ohm meter to check you coils before using them. (When using an ohm meter don't forget to subtract the resistance of the ohm meter itself from the final reading. Hold the two leads together and see what the meter says for Ωs, then read you new coil and subtract that value).

Here's a link with the Ω listed for various gauges of Kanthal and Nichrome.

OH wow Kico........glad your puppy is ok and he didn't swallow it.

Yiddle, I'm fine.....I'm using my Vtube now again. Had sort of ignored it when I got the gripper. I also left the adapter on it, and had been using only my vivi nova on it, and occasionally a phx, but one time when I tilted the vivi, the whole thing wobbled. Before when that would happen, I was able to tighten it all down, but now the adapter won't tighten down in the gripper threads. So I was thinking maybe some kind of thick glue, or epoxy or something like that to just seal around under the adapter to hold it on the gripper. I don't think it would cause air flow problems, since the vivi would attach to the adapter and it has air holes at the top.

I had to get adapters to use with the Viva Nova and the T. Now the adapter stays on all the time.

I do have one mod where the connector is too big for some clearo, Viva's, or T. I was hoping the adapters would fit it but they didn't so I got one mod I can't even use. So if you come up with something to use to hold it in there I'd sure like to hear about it! :)

I'm thinking you could use something, but make sure it's only on the threads. I think if it got down on the bottom it might interrupt the flow of current from the battery to the carto  Where's all those electrical genius guys when I need em?

    Yep. I'm catching up!

    Hey Thanks Mike! Greatly appreciated!

When did you purchase it? It might still be under warranty.

If not, then I would insert a 'no-hole' 510 extension as snug as possible. Get some 5 minute epoxy and secure the extension base to the body.
Yes, Deb - The calvary is arriving!

Dah! Meant to post this too: Have y'all heard of Vapor Joes Daily Deals?

Vapor Joes - Daily Vapor Deals

Here's a couple I think might apply here:

These are the XL model. They are longer than standard boge cartomizers. They have black, stainless steel, pre-punched stainless. All versions come in both Standard and Low Resistance. These are single coil.

At 4.99 this is the lowest price I have ever seen.

    WHERE: vaporheads.net

    THE DEAL:

1 box of Boge XL Cartomizers $4.99

    18350 IMR 800mah Batteries $2.99Saturday, September 08, 2012 10:30 AM

I didn't exactly purchase it. I won a GC and got it with that. I paid 10.00 more than what I won and shipping, but it was still mostly free. Yeah, I can't see through this extension, so I'm guessing that means it's a sealed one. And am I correct in assuming that even if I cover the air holes on the gripper threads at the bottom of the extension, that it won't matter, cuz the top of the extension.....where I attach the juice holders....has it's own air holes????

I see lots of people getting cotton. Instead of a quilting party, where can we get together and have a wicking party?

Uhmmmm Central Texas would be a good place!!!! Temple, Belton, Killeen, ..... maybe Austin if we can't make those other places. hehehe

I would make the same assumption in that I have a Gripper with a solid extension with no issues.

As to a wicking party in central Texas, what's the door prize for traveling the furtherest (new Iffyism) to get dere? Thankfully time is not an issue...

Thanks hun! As to the door prize.......uhmm....well.....ya get to meet me!!!!! :) lmao! Ok...uhmmmm.....I'll cook too, that might make it worth it! With no car and no $ I'd be doin good to make it to Austin, I sure aint gettin any further than that. lol But austin is further south anyhow.

ok, I'm outta here now (nice iffyism) I have those words all the time. I tell folks I speak fluent gibberish, southern and Debaneese, still workin on my English. Luckily my son is pretty fluent in momaneese.

Would you plz give me your thoughts on this 1?

Pounce on it; killa price! I've purchased at least a dozen Riva kits for my v-verts in da past with 100% satisfaction. I'd also recommend obtaining a few clearomizers of your choice. The carts that come with those kits suck, and in a bad way.

    Good luck!
