I guess it was easier for us because both my wife and I needed to quit cigarettes. While our reason for quitting was health based rather than cost, we were spending about $75/week for cigarettes. Since buying 2 kits for about $50 each, we are spending about $25 per month for e-liquid. Our Clearomizers seem to go on and on, as I clean them now and then with everclear. Same 2 have lasted 10 weeks so far. The cost reduction is a no-brainer. The health benefits are obvious to us. I have had chronic bronchitis since childhood. Since switching, I have not needed inhalers, etc. We were so satisfied with the results that we purchased units for my sister and 2 nieces as Christmas presents. We have absolutely no regrets. (My wife had tried Chantrix, patches, etc with no success.)

My quitting is health based also. I also plan to pass along my cig alike to my Sister in Law to see if she can stop her 3 pack a day habit...I think the initial 'start up' cost blind sided him. He picked the first cig alike he came across that was cheap, not bothering to do any research.

Our first ones were purchased by our daughter and kinda forced upon us. Came to this forum and got advice and recommendations. The kits cost less than a carton of cigarettes each. Not a gamble at all. It's very difficult to quit a 50 year habit. I would obviously rather quit altogether, but know our limitations. I think we can live with this, as both of us actually prefer the e-cigs and have not been tempted to return to smoking. Our doctor was aware of e-cigs and thinks this was a good decision.

My sister switched and hasn't used a cigarette since Christmas. She has COPD and has since stopped coughing and her condition has really improved.

I keep spare parts and a stockpile of liquid to make sure no one backslides.

I have recently ordered a VAMOS to try out, but the Spinner with Clearomizers have really worked for us.

69 and a life long smoker. Switched to e-cigs 2 1/2 months ago at the urging of my daughter. Now my wife, son and two nieces have joined me with Vision/Clearomizer Xmas presents. Amazingly, no one has reverted to cigarettes yet! Started with cheap one time use models, then changed to Vision/Clearomizer. Have recently ordered a Vamo kit to try. I use a single Spinner battery that I charge nightly to see how long it will last before failing. (I, of course, have spares.)

Can someone recommend an alternative to Clearomizer? Need something that will work with Spinner or Vamo. We like the Clearomizers, but I wonder if there's something better liked.

Welcome Nick! Wow, the family that vapes together stays off ciggies together!! Sounds like you're all doing great! It will be interesting to see what you all end up with. There are so many choices out there and not everybody is happy with he same thing. Have you tried the vivi nova? A few of us are liking the new EVOD we just got - it's a bottom coil which gives a bit cooler vape if you like that. I use the mini vivi on my Twist. Good luck as you journey together. It helps to have people to bounce opinions and ideas off of. Stop back often if we can be of any help.

Drum roll..I've mixed 1 bottle of ejuice. Still fiddling with it...it's not bad it's just I need more flavor I think. So what's the top end limit for Kona? I started at 4%...couldn't taste that. Moved it up to 7%..nope....guess 10% is next??? Or is that pushing the limit? I also added 4% sweet cream to it....haven't changed that value. This is NF Kona cream I'm using.

I just finished making 5ml of coffee flavor and will put a couple drops in the atty to see how I did,
but I've been chaining it up today so maybe I'll wait a while!

I was talking to the owner of the nearest ecig shop today.. he said his mother is vaping now. She cut her nicotine to 0 and her COPD started back up... When she talked to her doctor, he told her to up the nic to 12. Because without the tobacco, nicotine opens the bronchial tubes. Her COPD is gone again.
SO many benefits to Nicotine without cigarettes.

Boohoo...my eVod sprung a leak. A pretty bad one too. It was gurgling yesterday, so I took it off last night and set it on my bedside table. This morning I put my T2 back on, and just now picked up the Evod and saw it leaked everywhere. Sad camper face...
Oh No, Kat! I wonder what ever could have caused that!!! I feel so badly for you because I know how much you liked those little buggers........but, since it happened to you, I will take some precautionary measures 'just in case'.

Wish I could help you out, but I'm not there yet, by a longshot. Those flavors sound like some I would love to try; I do believe I have those flavors too, so let me know how it turns out.

If you're in need of a P-Touch Label Maker .. $10. bucks right now

Brother PT-1290 P-Touch Simply Stylish Labeler : Home & Office | RadioShack.com

Thanks U/Willie

I just called our store in Ormond Beach to see if they would have stock tomorrow and they said yes, so guess where I'll be going!

I did have a label maker a while back but was dissatisfied with it, so took it back......cheapie from Walmart.

Thanks again...........big help!! Now I can cross that item off my 'to get' list!

ugh...I am in trouble. :/ Hubby is absolutely 'livid' over how much I've spent. For my birthday he got me a cig-alike, and somehow figured that after 40+ years of smoking I would be 'quit' a month later, totally and completely. I ordered an upgrade kit (900mah) and some juice from HHV, and some carts to get me through til the upgrade and clearomizers and juice get here. How do I make him understand that you don't just get an ecig and voila you are done with nicotine (PAD smoker here) forever in less than a month? It doesn't seem to matter to him that the nicotine level is going progressively down, he wants me to be 'done' with it period. (he quit cold turkey 13 yrs ago and has been a pain in my A** ever since over smoking, let alone vaping) I should add, the cig alike is ONE battery, and he 'generously' threw in 5 cartos....no one can quit with THAT!

Aw Molli, what Kat and Kari said... and tell your hubby that you're doing exactly what he wanted you to do. You're just doing it the way that works best for you! {{Molli}}

G'Mornin, All! Oops..........afternoon!!!

When I first started vaping, there were few choices to be had, and my vaping life was simple and sweet!

Learning all the new gadgets is making my brain hurt! LOL With all the choices though, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm still in the process of getting my first Mod (EGoT) and with the help of Kat and Bob, I'm getting there, slowly but surely. THANK YOU!!

Got my first carto tank in my vapemail today, so later this evening when I'm free I'll start playing with that and look at all the YouTube videos for instructions.

I also got another Spinner in the rainbow color! Beautiful! With a purple EVOD we're talking foxy feminine!

On another note, I'm in NE Florida and we're experiencing some cold.....brrrrr....temps. It's 46o right now with a good chance of a freeze tonight and tomorrow.
Don't mind the 50s and 60s but this is quite uncomfortable especially since Floridians typically have thinner blood!

Going to get another hot cup of java........or maybe some hot chocolate.......yea, that sounds good!!!

Wow, if I was going to get a Spinner it would definitely be the rainbow one. Very pretty!
While I sympathize with you about the cold, our chill factor right now is 22 degrees. That's above zero, but I'm ready for Spring!!

VapeMail, Vapemail!!!

I liked the ego T2 18350 mod so much I bought another. I also discoved the eVic 18650 tube will work with the mod controller. I didn't know if my Panasonic protected batts would work so I also got a couple "hybrid" 2250mah batts with my order. Turns out they are eFest 3100mah (factory label) and they are slightly smaller and shorter than the Pannys. They are charging now and I'll report on their stamina later. The order came from litecigs.com.

These mods work in two modes. Straight whatever the battery is outputting or controlled 3.3 volt. I've been using the 3.3v mode with a 1.8ohm T3 (more on the way) and it's a very good vape. Notice that the T3's fit down inside the controller, too. Now, when the eVic comes down to <$50 I'll be ready to rumble.

2013-02-15113834_zpsb693e76f.jpg

Update on the ego T2 18650 mod. After charging for about 5 hrs. yesterday, the much discussed 18650 batts from litecigusa were ready to use. I loaded the mod, set the controller to constant 3.3 volts and loaded a 2.5 ohm T3 with my DIY menthol/mint 50/50 12mg juice and started vaping with it about 5:30PM yesterday. About 11AM today I got VapeMail and switched the T3 to a 1.8 ohm coil. A bit more throat hit and more vapor. It's now 10PM and I just filled the T3 for the 4th time and the batt is still going strong. That's a good 20 hrs. I don't vape constantly, but when I do I hit it hard.

I don't know how these batteries could be 3100mah when they are smaller than some 2250mah ones that I have, but they sure do last a long time.

Tried the 'cold turkey' more times than I care to recall. HE spent $50 on the cigalike for my Birthday. I've since spent about $200 on a new kit, juice, cartomizers, case, (which he didn't bother to think I needed) and adapters for the cigalike. I 'should' be good for several months, and spent about $100-150 a month on analogs (cheapest ones I could find) He's also not getting the concept of you have to order juice NOW to get it hopefully a month or less later. Also what I have ordered is in assorted LESS nicotine to 'cut down'. the 'original' is only 16mg, and I can make a carto last me four days at that level. Vaping more at the lower levels (8mg)

The expense is getting the devices. Then the juice is not that much, especially if you get into DIY. What I'm thinking is that HE didn't get you a set up that you're happy with so you're getting one that suits you. After you have it for a bit you can show him how much you're saving and he shouldn't be able to complain about getting some new toys.

Oh no! Did you figure out why it leaked? I'm only on my 2nd tankful - is this something I have to watch for? I did notice that to fill the tank you have to unscrew the tank from the bottom and made a note to be sure to not try to unscrew it by holding the tank. I guess we all end up making that mistake once. Could it be that your tank was loose from the bottom?

Actually, the expense is getting the pre-filled cartomizers for the cig alike he got me! It's 808 threaded and I don't want to mess with clearos or tanks on this piece of junk. I"m switching to a 510/ego system. Cost should go waaaay down with the juice.

I haven't used NF. But I hear that Kona is a strong flav. Ya might want to try 2%. I know...that's counter-intuitive, but give it a try.

Anyone that's DIYing should read and study HOOSIER'S FLAVORING LEVELS blog!!!

Janet I wish I had paid more attention and checked to see if maybe the base was not all the way screwed in and caused the leak. But no, i ran too fast to clean it up, so I'm not 100% certain. But I do think I'll remove it from my device in the evenings & set it on my bedside table. Going forward, I'll take care to make sure the bottom is screwed on good before leaving it for the night.
