Older Folks and Vaping

My son and I bought mistic to stop smoking cigarettes. After my heart attack, it was probably life or death for me, and neither of us have had an "analog" in 3 months or so.

SUCH INCREDIBLE FREEDOM!! (Does she sound ecstatic? She IS!!)
No smell, no dropping hot ashes, no ashtrays... and best of all you can be covert.

We both graduated to all kinds of batteries, lots of delivery systems, and TONS of juice. For him its like a ritual, and he waits for his new orders like a kid at Christmas.

I was more interested in the ease of the mistic and it spoiled me, but the unregulated battery made it more and more unpalatable as the battery wore down.
So I just got a start up Volt set. So far, so good. More flavor choices, and I bought 5 empties.

My question is what's the best juice to refill them. If anyone has used them please...

Congratulations whosamama to you and your son! Yes, it is an amazing feeling of freedom isn't it? I never thought I'd stop, just got a ir808 to help me cut down and and it worked so well I smoked my last cigarette the day they arrived!! Yippee! It's great that you have your son to vape with. There are so many choices between the devices and juice that it helps to have someone to share it with.

Not sure what to tell you about juices. Everybody finds different flavors that they like or hate. Are you using cartos? It might be harder to sample different juices because the flavors tend to stay in the polyfill. I don't have a volt, but I'd think the cartos would be pretty much like the ones for the ir808. You could pop off the top, pull out the polyfill and just drip maybe 3 drops in to taste a new juice. Take that carto off your volt and rinse it out and let it dry to try another flavor. Are you using a drip tip?

It's actually Iffy's recipe. I mentioned the combination of pear and blueberry and he whipped it up! We've been passing it around ever since! It's pretty easy really. Even the pear by itself is great. Here is his post:

i am 45 and smoked for 30 of those years. do i count as an older vaper . been vaping for a few years off and on but have not had one puff for the last 7 months and in the year before that only smoked 19 cigarettes. think i am done with the smoke now. vaping really works. have a most excellent day.

Hey everyone sorry I haven't checked in very often but I try to keep up somewhat on the thread. I've had some good days and bad ones but today is good so I thought I would post. I've been packing my Vamo in 18650 Mode in a lanyard wherever I go so I've had lots of opportunity to promote vaping with doctors and nurses. My Gripper and Groove have also got lot's of use and comments as well. I have cut way back on vaping because everything tastes so bad but it seems to be improving and my main flavors are starting to come around again. I will be going home in about 10 days so this part of the battle is about over and the good guys are winning. The doctors are really impressed at how well I'm doing. I told them I have lots of friends that believe in prayer and are praying for me! So thanks to all of of you!

EVOD We'll see what sticking an Awl..well a skinny long phillips head down it does. Didn't leak when I turned it over to fill it with my weird Caramel, pear/peach/cream/Black Tea mix. Had to change the bottom coil though, but it is vaping and jury is still out on that mix LOL It's not terrible though...time will tell on it.

My long awl was too fat to fit down the drip tip.

It is so good to hear from you Tx and fantastic to hear that you are doing so well. Once again the prayers are working but then I had no doubt that they would. It also helps that you are a tough tumbleweed with a will of steel. You will be home spending time with your grandkids and sitting in front of your 72" TV before you know it.

Natasha, I don't know of a lot of places that sell pre-punched regular size carto's but here are some and you get a free juice sample. They offer 1 or 2 hole options in different ohms.

Most places carry the carto punch now, but I could not find one on that site.

Here's how this type is used in case you need it: V2 Cartomizer Punch - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks (hole placement could be different from one punch to another, not totally sure - I think Mike has some good instructions on how to figure out hole placement, but I couldn't find his post)

And here's one I've been eyeballing on ebay:

And some directions I found on a vaping site LOL
Simple to use:
Loosen the 3 outer nuts holding the case together.
Remove the bottom silicone cover on your carto
Slide the carto through the top of the device so the threded end is down.
Tighten the 3 nuts ensuring a tight grip on the carto.
Turn the center nut clock-wise 3 full turns (or until it stops), then back off 3 full turns.
Loosen the 3 outer nuts and remove carto.
Repeat as needed.

Natasha - in a pinch/emergency, you can use a small hammer and dry wall screw to punch a hole in a carto. The drywall screw is hardened metal and comes to a nice point at its end. Just be careful if you try it - the carto will want to jump out from under the screw when you tape it with the hammer. Also don't wack it so hard that you crush the carto. Test your skills on an old carto that you don't want any more.
