Not sure about whether it cracks plastic or not. Triacetin appears to be a humectant (used to keep things from drying out), PG and VG are apprently Humectants as well. All three can be found as additives in the list of 600 additives in tobacco cigarettes. As with PG and VG both are recognized as safe for ingestion. Also as with PG and VG, I do not think it is known for certain if there are any long term negative effects from inhalation. If someone has better information, please feel free to correct me. I am certainly not a doctor or chemist.

I do however like the fact that TFA discloses this information on their website. And also the info on "custard" ingredients.

I also have CRS and forgot to add.....I also add in Tobacco Road Red Tail Vapor ECigarette Refill with WTA with every batch I make, for myself. If I didn't have the WTA, I would be a different person altogether. I have been gradually lowering the % I use each time I make my batch, to eventually save that expense. :)

Mike wasn't able to totally give up the cigs until he tried the WTA and that did the trick. That was over a year ago and he hardly ever vapes it at all now. Basically he's just using up what he has left now. Some people just respond better with a little WTA.

Welcome Trucker! Nah, we don't check birth certificates here. We're just a great bunch of folk chatting about all things vaping and all are welcome. We do have another thread for chatting about vaping and a lot of other topics as well if you want to stop by

Sounds like you're doing great with your vaping. So you didn't like your first try. Where did you find out that there were better devices to try?

Sorry I haven't replied to your question before now. Work has been keeping me busy and I haven't really spent a lot of time reading forums.

I learned about mods via the web. I was checking out an ecig dealer's site and saw a link for "mods". I had no idea what that was so I clicked it, and my eyes were opened to a whole new world of vaping wonder.

I then did a lot of online research about eliquids and the various devices now available. I knew back when I first tried those cig-alikes that the technology would improve and had planned all along to give it another try when it did. I'm very happy with it now and consider these new devices far superior to those old unreliable ones I had first tried.

Glad to hear you didn't abandon the vaping idea altogether. Yep, they sure have improved. Seems there's something new and improved coming out every week and that's good news for us! Keep safe on the roads and stop back anytime if you have any questions. Happy vaping!

Strange thing happened in a restaurant today when we were celebrating the 35th work aniversary of a co-worker. When I smoked my pipe, I would eat my meal and excuse myself so I could "smoke my desert". Then I switched to vaping and would excuse myself to "vape my desert".
Today, I went through the whole meal and an extra bout of chatting and didn't even think about the PV in my pocket. I thought about it when I got my keys out of the other pocket.
I vaped on the way home (took today off for other appointments), but it was more because it was there than "I need nic!". Actually, of the two juices I vaped, one is 0 nic. It's nice to have an ego/USB on a charger battery. Easy to switch out. All plug-and-play.

Yes I think so but I have to have that little bit. 0 nic is to bland for me.

That's a good description of why sometimes I like a little nic in my juice. I dont need the nic anymore and can live happily without it, but some juices just seem too bland without it so I choose to use some of my juices with a little nic sometimes :)

The thunder storms have been swirling around us for hours now :( Lots of heavy rain. Guess I shouldn't be complaining since the news is reporting golf ball size hail or high winds just a few miles to the south and north of us. Fingers crossed we avoid it for the next hour when the storm should move on past us.

I'm down to 6mg and it seems I vape more for the flavor than the nic.

I'm working on finishing up my many 6s now, but vaping more 0 than anything else. I still love the taste and feel of my vape! I also made some blackberry that is 35pg/65vg and boy does it ever roll out the vapor, definitely am enjoying it most of all.

Triacetin was not toxic to animals in acute oral or dermal exposures, nor was it toxic in short-term inhalation

After 40+ years smoking.... I don't really care about the long or short term effects. I'm just to frugle to keep replacing cracked tanks. View attachment 233130

No kidding. How many of us "worried" about the long or short term effects of inhaling burned plant material and chemical soup??

I am ashamed to say I didn't care what it was doing to me. I just knew I enjoyed smoking and it helped me get through the day. I am thankful that I found a new crutch and for the first time in my life... I think I can remain smokefree. I just miss my mom and wish she were still here so I could teach her to vape. She made me promise I would quit smoking right before she died. I promised her I would. I think that is the only time I ever lied to her. It took 9 years but it is almost like I am honoring her memory. I can't say that I will never smoke again. I told my husband that I was only going to vape until I got sick and then I would go back to smoking. After a couple months of vaping I have changed my mind. Maybe I'll just by a Provari....... Hi Rat, exactly my point. Sarcasm doesn't come across well in typing :(

40+ years on tobacco... Did I know the health risks? Sure, how could I not? Did it bother me? Heh, not enough to stop, although I tried. Many times. Like most of us here, I think... with all sorts of methods that didn't work for me. Until vaping!

What bothered me more was going outside to smoke, no matter the weather!

And maybe it did take 9 years, but you've kept your promise :toast:

ya know... a rebuildable tank atomizer, a dremmel and a Amazon.com: Rigid Tubing, 3/4-Inch by 3-Feet can go a LOOOONG way to being frugal.

something like the Terminator at gotvapes or the Atmistique Diver works great with this because being rebuidable, you can end up NOT spending lots more money than you would pay for even the Diver. I have a Diver and LOVE it!!

Thanks for that link. Yeah, as I said I do not know whether triacetin itself will mess with polycarbonate or if it was the flavor molecules in the particular triacetin juice solution which are to blame.

As I say, I am no chemist, but my guess is that regarding the juices listed there, small or very diluted amounts would probably be OK and may not damage a plastic tank.

I do think though that the days of the plastic tank and perhaps clearo's are numbered! Glass, particularly Pyrex is a superior material. But of course not as cheap. I could be wrong though.

BTW: This thread is huge, I wonder how people can keep up with it.

I'm lucky.. I came into the thread in December, so it only took me 2 weeks of reading to get it all from the beginning. you will get people who come in and ask the same questions that have been asked before, but that's ok because we are all a good bunch of people! we like talking about vaping stuff. for non-vaping stuff, there is an older folks thread in the general forum somewhere... someone will re-give that link. :)
