I'm lucky.. I came into the thread in December, so it only took me 2 weeks of reading to get it all from the beginning. you will get people who come in and ask the same questions that have been asked before, but that's ok because we are all a good bunch of people! we like talking about vaping stuff. for non-vaping stuff, there is an older folks thread in the general forum somewhere... someone will re-give that link. :)

Your wish is my command. :) http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/289745-older-people-55-up.html

I'm down to 6mg and it seems I vape more for the flavor than the nic.

I hover around that 6mg mark myself, + or - a bit probably since my DIY does not have absolutely perfect Kung Fu ..

After a while, liquid gets relatively bland for me, I rotate a couple flavors but I really only like the nutty, tobacco like and maybe a little coconut ..

I liked smoking analogs .. that first cig of the day was always a rush .. after a good meal .. etc .. but, I did try and quit for many years with no luck .. at checkups, my DR would ask if I had quit, I'd say "I'm down to maybe 5 smokes a day" .. he'd look at me and say "The addict always returns to the dose they are most comfortable with. You must quit entirely" .. he was right ..

No kidding. How many of us "worried" about the long or short term effects of inhaling burned plant material and chemical soup??

I'm sorry you feel that way. I was too stupid to avoid acquiring the cigarette habit and too scared to give it up. I'm 75 years old and smoked for 53 years. As my longevity continues to wane due to my age I find that I do care about what I do that could make my expiration date come more quickly. :2c:

I can't speak for everyone, but stupid is, to me, not the right word .. those of us that go back to the age of smoking allowed everywhere, the Marlboro Man, it's the cool thing to do, no problem, even at some point it's actually good for you, and everyone was doing it .. I don't think we were stupid .. just uninformed for the times ..

If 20 years from now it was discovered that excessive cell phone use caused your left ear to fall off .. oh, sorry, bad analogy .. ;)

Thanks for that link. Yeah, as I said I do not know whether triacetin itself will mess with polycarbonate or if it was the flavor molecules in the particular triacetin juice solution which are to blame.

As I say, I am no chemist, but my guess is that regarding the juices listed there, small or very diluted amounts would probably be OK and may not damage a plastic tank.

I do think though that the days of the plastic tank and perhaps clearo's are numbered! Glass, particularly Pyrex is a superior material. But of course not as cheap. I could be wrong though.

BTW: This thread is huge, I wonder how people can keep up with it.

Hey there Arnie and welcome! I guess if you don't want the weight of glass there's always the pp tanks although they're not clear.

Never counted how many keep up, but some of us have been here from the beginning and many new folks have stopped in recently. We have a magic porch that just keeps gett'n bigger 'n bigger so there's always room for more.

In my case "stupid" is probably the right word. I'm still that way. I not sure what I would do if someone suggest I put toilet bowl cleaner in my toot. heehee At some point I would hope common sense kicked it but not sure in my case. heehee That Tidy Bowl is a pretty color. bahahahaha I'm just glad I have ya'll to help me.

Hey, you have two ears... :p

Yes, I, too, started cigs when it was "OK", when MDs would smoke while checking your blood pressure, and so on. Later, even when the evidence started piling up about how bad it was - well, lots of excuses, and later on, lots of failed attempts to quit. Honestly, I just enjoy "smoking", the process, maybe the nic, although I'm slowly lowering that since I started vaping. As the most recent research shows, the psychological side is perhaps more of a hurdle...

And while we do know that vaping is a lot less dangerous, no, we don't really know that it's "safe" as only time will tell. But as harm reduction goes, it's pretty darn effective.

This stuff kills. Today it was damn hot here and I walked to the local shop on an ice cream run. To cut a long story interesting, my PV fell from my pocket and rolled into the road. A skip collection truck was coming my way. I used what athleticism I have to save my PV. But it was a tad silly as the truck driver missed my story and only barely missed my heels.

Hi new to the thread and fairly new to vaping, I smoked for 50 years and had no intention of giving up, until one day I found that after climbing the stairs I couldn't speak in full sentences for about 2 minutes, that was it I had to do something and started to look at ecigs, first attempt was abject failure i tried the lookalike type and they did absolutely nothing for me and I went back to analogues. Well you wont be surprised that my shortness of breath gradually got worse, so I thought maybe there is an alternative to the lookalike found this site and the info was overwhelming, so the first thing I bought was a auto with a clearomiser good and got a decent vape gave up the ciggies that night and haven't looked back now using a vision spinner with a evod and it is great. I am lucky I think I found something that just took away the need for the fags (oops America I believe may have a different meaning for that word) anyway I am now cigarette free for a month and have no desire to return to the bad old days. Thank god for the ecf I think it may have just saved my life.

Hi and welcome Arnie - it's easy to keep up as there's lots of CRS in here and we tend to repeat ourselves. So if you missed 'it' today it'll come around again.

OMG! May be the 1st report that vaping can be dangerous to you health.

I feel the same way lulu and one reason I switched to all glass tanks after reading polycarbonate is a cancer causing chemical. The cracking and leaching of the plastic tanks has always concerned me. Coming down with throat cancer didn't help any although the Doc said it was most likely caused by smoking and heavy drinking in the past. I guess as you get over 70 and can see the end of the trail getting closer it makes you feel a little different about things although it is a little late to make much difference. :)

Hey there rinswind and a big welcome! I think a lot of us can say we enjoyed smoking, just not the badness of it. Eventually it catches up. I sure wish vaping had come around years ago! Hubby, MikeE3, and I started together, but only thought it would help us cut down on the cigs. Surprise! I totally quit them the day I got my kr808 and he immediately went from 2+ pad to about 6 a day. Within a couple months he was totally off the cigs and we've been "former smokers" for 1-1/2 years now. Don't know that we would have been as successful without ECF though. Great group of folks here. Always ready to help. This thread is dedicated to vaping only, but we also have another thread where we can chat about other things as well. Never know what the topic of the day will be. Hop on over and join us if you'd like. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/289745-older-people-55-up-797.html

Yepper, startin' to get sum of da same vibes myself, tx. But, nonetheless, it is quite comforting to walk that 'path' arm-in-arm with those that share our common takes and mistakes!

I truly believe that we can make at least a lil' diff, besides our families and friends, by just being willing to listen and respond accordingly without judgements.

OK, back to my Spicy V8 and beer...

Thanks all for the super welcome, I have always found that the vaping community is the friendliest bunch. Even when I was on holiday and vaping on the street another vaper would come up and start chatting about what set I was using and just general stuff about liquids, now the point is if we hadn't been vapers we would have passed each other in the street without a second thought. It is like a new world has opened up for me. Anyway I think I am going to pop over to the 55up thread. See you all around.
