I remember a sign my dad showed me where he was stationed at the Hanau barracks. At the entrence on the way out they put up a sign which said "You are now entering HELL"
Being a little boy I did not understand it so I asked. He said thats because of the different driving culture between US and Germans. He got a real good laugh out of that one.:D

Up here, folks say "up the road a ways". You never know if you'll be driving for 5 minutes or a hour...

Now around here jewels you have to listen to how they accent the directions. If the say uuuuuuppppp the road a waaaayyysss - you got a long drive ahead of you... LOL

Two ole townfolks are standing on the side of the road. A driver stops and asked for directions.
They just look at him and stay quite.
He thinks ok maybe they speak French. So he asked again in French.
No response.
Ok maybe they speak German.
Again no results.
Lets see if they understand Russian.
Nope not one word comes from the two guys.
Frustrated he drives away.
One ole guy says. He knew alot of languages didn't he?
Yea he did but what was it good for? says the other.

... saw one exactly like this in South Carolina. LOL:laugh:

So help me, I'd swear that OTR drivers have to surrender their brains at the border of that state! Why would ANY driver hold up two miles of backed up traffic when passing only going .75 MPH faster than another OTR semi?

Don't get me wrong... I luv da 'Lina folk, food and history. My last duty station was Shaw AFB prior to retirement. BUT, that trip down south to my home town in FLA was hiway freedom!

Took my bride up to NY for her uncle & aunt's 60 wedding anniversary last year and nuttin' has changed on da SC interstate!

Texas, near Fort Hood
I can offer you a rather unique road sign from here in Maine. And, yes, they are all towns in Maine.

Hope you like Sweden, cuz you get to visit it twice!

Oh yeah UW, we have a lot of those signs in Texas, near the prisons, and that is exactly what they say.

Here we have over yonder or down the road a piece, and yeah same thing....5 mins or 5 days.

A lady was following a older guy out in the country and all of sudden he slammed on his breaks and the lady rear ended him. She got out of the car and walked up to the guy and said, why did you stop so quickly and He said, to pull into my drive way. They called the local sheriff and the sheriff ask the older guy if he signaled his turn. He said, hell no everybody knows I live here.

This talk of Texas roads takes me way back .. I remember that drive to Nuevo Laredo .. used to love going across the border .. of course, back in the 1960's, it was relatively safe or I was too stupid to know any different .. we'd walk across the bridge, party on till we could not stand it anymore and then take a Mexican cab back across .. nothing was required except to declare you were a US Citizen when coming back ..

Yep I've been across the bridge to Boystown in Nuevo Laredo myself. I was stationed in El Paso at Ft Bliss for a year and I've got many many stories of my trips across the bridge to Juarez, of course I can't tell them on here. :D

Onions? ONIONS? Did some one say onions?!?!?

I rank 'em right behind salt as a required ingredient! Raw, roasted, sauteed, fried, boiled, baked, broiled, grilled... ummm... ya get da idea! Walla Walla and Vidalia are my favs, but I luv 'em all.

The admin types have been working it out. That is part of the reorg reasons, moving threads, etc. ECF is growing faster than they anticipated I guess...
