That Atari reminds me of my son's childhood. We had a Commodore 64. When he was 8 years old, I would read him the BASIC programs in the back of Qlink magazine. We would take turns typing in the code (strings of 5 numbers and letters) and reading. At the end you would get a cute little program. The Commodore was actually a pretty advanced computer for its time. It was color, for one thing! And when you added the two 64K (hahahah) hard drives, you hit the big time.
Fast forward to today, and my son was lucky enough to go to a math and science high school, where the founders of Netscape, PayPal, and YouTube went to school, and the rest is history! He got to compile the code for Netscape, the first free browser!!
He comes in at about 18:37 until 20:00 - the kid with the blond streaks! He got to work at PayPal, and some other places, and now Facebook! I am so proud of him!!!!!
Thank you so much for that vid, I never understood what went on behind the scenes of the internet technology, now i have some idea just how much dedication goes into it. Very informative vid.
A big welcome to you, hope you like the group.
So glad you liked the video! It really was interesting, I watched the whole thing. Most browsers weren't public domain until Netscape went public with the source code. I think that first build was called Mozilla, which is now Firefox. Whenever I have a glitch with Google Chrome not printing something on my Mac, and Safari not working, I call up Firefox which always seems to work.
