Best place to be when it's snowing....................sitting in front of a blazing fireplace with a hot buttered rum in my hand.:D

Wow, does that sound nice although I'd have a glass of mulled wine. That reminds me, gotta check our birdseed supply - and the wine.

The Frankenstorm is coming and should hit NJ on Tues which is the day I'm supposed to be heading there for my annual ladies long get away trip. I don't really care if it's raining when I'm there and the wind shouldn't be a problem where we're staying it's just getting there that could be a problem. Rats.

Janet: Generator? Mike, do we have a generator?

Mike: Who needs a generator? I've got my 42 batteries charged and the fireplace works. As long as you bring in enough wood we shouldn't need anything else.

Janet: Which couch do you plan on sleeping on Monday night?

I like helpful hints from people that find things that work for them. Well today I started taking down a wall paper border and started with soaking the border with vinegar and scrapping it off, It would not come off except in little pieces and only got off about 3 feet and it didn't do a very good job. I looked around the room and could see that it would take a very long time to do all I have to do. I took a break because I had an appointment for new glasses, and I was talking to a guy there and he said he had to strip wall paper and found a tool called (paper tiger) it fits in you hand and is round and what you do is run it around in a little circle and it puts a bunch of holes in the paper without hurting the wall behind it. Then I bought a squirt bottle of DIF gel and sprayed it on and used a paint brush to make sure it was evenly coated, waited 7 to 10 minutes, then scrape up a edge and pull on it and it comes off very clean and completely. I sure some of you already know this, but I didn't so I thought I would share this with others. I sure am happy it worked so well, and made this job so much easier. If you have big sheets of wall paper you could roll it on with a roller. Hope this makes someone else's job easier.

   How right you are!! Right now that would be my zmax, with a splitfire tank and crushed carmel apple juice :p

That is great the ZMax is working good for you Yiddle! Do you use it mostly in the VV or VW mode? Mine should be here soon. I'm liking the Splitfire too.

I haven't had any issues with mine that others have reported. I use the 18650 pannys and I only use the vw mode. Of course I'm not like those guys who are trying to fry a LR atty by seeing how high they can push it. I made sure to have attys/clearos that were at least 2.4 ohms before I ever got it. I like it enough that if/when this one dies I would go for the new one coming out in ss and reportedly a new menu that gives the accurate readings and settings everyone was going on about.

Do you remember when, not so long ago, I was afraid to even venture into vv? what a long ways I have come :D But I do take the time to read and research as much as possible before trying something.

Glad you found that little tiger gadget - it's wonderful. Years ago Mike and I had to remove the wallpaper in the livingroom at my aunt's house. I ran that little thing all over the walls while Mike mixed the stripper stuff in one of those pump tanks you use for spraying weeds in the yard. He sprayed the walls, waited a few minutes and sprayed them again and the paper practically fell off the walls in perfect sheets. Amazing! I don't know if the stripper stuff was even necessary, some warm water and vinegar probably will do the trick as well. One note of caution though. I removed a border in our bathroom and thought I'd washed the wall underneath very well before painting. After a while you could see where the border was. Then someone at the paint store told me I should have rolled on a sealer before painting. So two years ago I stripped the paper off our bedroom wall using the same method above and wiped the walls down with clear water afterward and then rolled on the sealer before painting. It's been 2 years and the walls are still beautiful so I guess it really does work. As long as you have a big job to do it's nice to at least not have to struggle doing it.

Looks like I better stock up on firewood. Weatherman's talking about a "Perfect storm" here................

We're located near Philadelphia and I was supposed to go to Stone Harbor on Tuesday. That's a NJ shore town. Hopefully we'll just get the wind and rain and not snow. They're talking snow to the west of us. Our daughter lives in Denver and she's had snow for the last 2 days. We usually get her weather 2-3 days after she does and that air mass is supposed to meet Sandy coming up the coast. Oh joy. Well, I'm just going to stock up and expect to stay inside until it passes. We'll probably wait to leave on Wednesday for Stone Harbor. I hope you don't get a ton of snow Fran. Just be prepred and stay safe.

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
We've visited Buddy Holly once, so today, on this gloomy Friday with a major storm outside where some of my friends on this thread live, let's talk about another tragic death from February 3, 1959, on what has become known as "The Day the Music Died"...

Ritchie Valens (born Richard Steven Valenzuela; May 13, 1941 – February 3, 1959) was a Mexican-American singer, songwriter and guitarist. 17 at his untimely death .. Valens, although not in school that day, had two planes colliding over his Jr High School that killed or injured some of his friends and ultimately led to an intense fear of flying, ironically enough .. we can only wonder what was going thru his head when that small plane went down in that snowstorm in Clear Lake, Iowa ..

A rock and roll pioneer and a forefather of the Latino pop/rock movement, Valens' recording career lasted only eight months. During this time, however, he scored several hits, most notably "La Bamba", which was originally a Mexican folk song, transformed by Valens with a rock rhythm and beat, that became a hit in 1958. Although born left handed, Valens taught himself to play right handed .. he was and is considered a pretty good guitar player, especially for his age ..

His family, particularly his Mother, fought for years to get the royalties from Valens record catalog ..

The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa should be on every Rock fans Bucket List ..

Valens was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
