All is well here. Lost power and internet for about 24 hours. I'm really worried about friends I have down at the Jersy shore. Haven't been able to make contact to make sure they evacuated in time. Atlantic City was hit hard and one of my best friends lives in Ocean City. I'm guessing her house was in major jeopardy.:(

Oh Yiddle, I hope you hear from them soon. From what I heard, most people did get out ahead of the storm so they probably just haven't been able to contact everyone yet. They could be quite busy right now helping others as well as themselves. Just keep them in your prayers and sit tight.

Many people are not being allowed back into their areas yet. To much debris. They could be stuck where they evacuated for safety... Our friends contacted us last night. They used their camper to evacuate about 500 miles inland... They said WiFi was interrupted everywhere - even where they evacuated too.

Looks like you guys in the storm path made it thru and speaking for the rest of us, we're so happy you did ..

Today, being that it is Halloween, we'll .. wait for it .. have a little Halloween theme play list ..

Starting with the great Cliff Richard .. or should I say, Sir Cliff Richard since he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on 25 October 1995, the first rock star to be so honored .. a lifelong bachelor, Richard is the third biggest selling artist of all time in the UK .. at 72, he continues to perform

Once again, great songs, Willie. Today I need to put away our storm preparations for another day. All of our coolers are stacked in the kitchen(empty), every jug in the house is filled with water. Our bathtub has 2 full Rubbermaid tubs filled with water(for flushing la toilette) that need to be emptied and dried. We do that instead of filling the tub because the tub has a slow leak.

We're having 3 of our grandkids over for pizza tonite, and then Hubby is going out trick or treating with them. Our neighborhood is way too spread out, so they drive a few miles from here to a more crowded area to get more "loot".

BTW .. no offense intended, ladies .. you are all Devil Witchy Black Magic Long Cool Women to me .. and I mean that in the nicest possible way .. ;)

You say the nicest things.

My hat is off to all of you that prepped for Sandy and were fully ready with the full load of survivalist gear .. me, I'd be the guy standing on the shoreline with his mouth hanging open saying "Wow, man" happily snapping away pics .. and later, a youtube video of me would be posted showing a wave sucking me out into the Atlantic ..

Good mornin everyone! I hope everyone enjoys their Halloween if you participate in handing out candy to the kiddos. I hope I have a few more show up this year than last so I don't have to eat all the candy I bought. I still haven't lost the weight I gained from last year and it all started at Halloween followed by Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and the Super Bowl. When it was over I had gained about ten pounds. lol

My hubby is the same way. I remember one time years ago we were under a tornado warning. A tornado had touched down about 5 miles from where we lived. The entire family was in the basement, but Hubby and my brother-in-law were in the yard watching the funnel clouds...

I had to make a list for him last weekend of what he needed to get done before the storm. It was like pulling teeth to get him to do it. He usually feels that the news people blow everything out of proportion. We've seen it over and over here in NE with our winter storms. I think it's true to a certain extent, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. That being said, when he got home from work on Monday, he rushed to shave and shower in case we lost power. When we lose power, we lose water, too, because we have a well, and the pump runs on electricity.

We were very fortunate that Sandy didn't hit our area like it did further south. So much suffering down there...

We aren't giving candy out this year. Last year, we had only 3 visitors. We have a veeeerry long driveway in a sparsely populated neighborhood, so the kids go elsewhere. My light will be off, and I'll be reading or watching TV.

I quit giving out candy some time ago .. since I refuse to contribute to the childhood obiesity epidemic, I attempted to had out guitar picks one year (I'm kidding) and people sneered at me like I had a booger hanging out of my nose .. (maybe I did, who knows) ..

But seriously, I did hand out temp tattoos and cool stickers and folks acted like I was the Grinch that Stole Halloween .. so now, I turn out the lights, retreat to my Man Cave and watch a spooky movie (probably "The Shining" tonight) and sip a good bourbon .. if any of you would like to make a reservation, let me know .. :toast:

And yes, it's likely just an excuse to break out the bourbon .. like I need one ..

There's larger developments around us so we don't have the numbers of kids that we used to. I never know how much candy to get. Used to be 4 large bags because car loads of kids would show up, but the past few years we were left with so much of it and I ended up throwing a lot away. So this year we have 1 bag. After our neighbors that we know come over I'm turning out the lights. We used to really enjoy it when our kids were little and their friends came, but not so much anymore. We're one of 2 houses on a side street so we get by passed anyway. I guess the kids prefer the shorter distances between the townhouses than having to walk all the way down here.

Mike and a friend spent the afternoon trying to save one pine tree that was leaning and cutting up another that was half way over and not savable. Sad to see good trees go down. The weeping willow still needs to be cut up and hauled away. We're just really thankful our trees were way out in the back yard and not anywhere that was dangerous. It breaks my heart to see the damage that some people have endured with this storm, but on the good side, neighbors are helping neighbors, even bringing equipment from other states to help.
