I have to share a bit of silliness with ya's. My cousin in SC had been vaping for a while and had recently started mixing her own jooses. We grew up together so I should have seen it coming, but what got her started was not so much her desire to save money or just to do it her way, but to really to it HER own way, as in from scratch! You remember the thread about making your own coffee or tea extractions? Well, she didn't have a computer, but I was telling her about it and I think that was the thing that really set her off! The whole idea that she didn't have to settle for someone elses product, that she could actually create her own from scratch! My first experiment, since I'm not a big coffee vape fan, was with the spice cardamom, which I had gotten a while back as a whole spice from an Indian Grocery. I seeded and ground them and followed the rest of the procedure similar to the coffee and it was quite awesome. Well, after that conversation she went nutso and tried extractions of, well, you name it! If it could be dried and ground, she would try to steep and extract it! Basil, rosemary, coriander, allspice, thyme, anise, fenugreek, borage, clove, dill, fennel, and on and on! I will definitely attempt some of them, but the one that really got me was her catmint, aka catnip flavor! She used it herself previously to make a tea and thought it should make a nice base for a vape. However, she neglected to consider that her kitty might enjoy it also, or at least not while it was being vaped. She said at first when she tried it, it wasn't bad, but needed some sweetener or honey, (see where this came from) and once she added it, it was great! So she sat there vaping away on it, and before long, her cat Alley (yep) started sniffing the air very intently, until she pulled herself up onto her knees sniffing. She dug her claws in a little too enthusiastically, so she shooed her away, but she came back even stronger. Now mind you Alley is usually a very sweet laid back kitty, kind of shy and retiring actually, so this was very uncharacteristic behavior for her to be so aggressive! After being shooed away numerous times, she finally jumped onto the arm of the chair and tried to make off with the PV! She wrapped her paws around Jay's arm and grabbed it in her mouth! She had to keep switching it back and forth from hand to hand and chasing her away because she just wanted that damn PV! She said she was laughing so hard she had tears rolling down her cheeks because the cat was so determined to get it! Finally she put it on the floor just to see what she would do, and without a second's hesitation she grabbed it in her mouth and ran! In fact, she ran so fast, she disappeared! She literally could not find her! Nor, of course, her PV! It drove her nuts! Luckily she had a back-up, but where and how could a cat and a PV just disappear like that into thin air?! Impossible! She searched and searched and finally had to give up and get to sleep!
She gets up in the morning, and there's Alley, meowing at her food bowl as usual. Jay, still bugged by the big mystery of the night before sees something lying on the floor at the end of the hall. Turns out to a thoroughly chewed up (but luckily still full) bottle of catnip extract Alley had stolen from the box. Getting ready to take a shower before work, Jay went to grab her slippers by her bed, and only found one. Looking under the bed, she found the other, along with something somewhat odd... the lining covering the bottom of the box-spring had a decided sag in one spot. She touched it and found it was quite heavy, and feeling around the sides she found a spot where the cover wasn't attached to the boxspring. She slipped her hand inside, and tada, there it was, her newly redesigned pierced and polka dotted PV, laying inside the kitty hammock! Mystery solved anyway! Sigh, always made me wish there was something like that for us that we can sniff and get happy AND it's good for us too! Whoopee!!!!
