Hi, Mattiem. I see you are located in the South, too. Glad to meet you.

Yep, Couldn't handle the weather in the northern states. I can handle the heat and humidity of the south much better than the cold and snow up there.

Several more folks will be along shortly from the southern states. But we also have several from up north. I'm sure Mike and Janet will be along soon. They are our resident husband and wife team.

I'm so glad to hear that your Mom is seeing a doc who will actually look and listen to her - and you.
Reminds me of a quote from the man that inspired "The Horse Whisperer" (or rather a paraphrase of a quote). He said that all creatures, whether human or horse, need to be truly seen, that the most important thing is to look into the eyes and truly see someone.

Janet H said:
We had my mother move in with us just as we were realizing she was at the beginning of her struggle with Alzheimers. . . . What an insidious disease.
I had always thought of Alzheimers as just being about being forgetful. Until my mother had it. Forgetting how to operate the microwave or how to tell time is one thing. Forgetting how to breathe is something else!

Welcome aboard, lilac. I live so far south that my oldest daughter moved away just to get away from the heat and humidity. She lived in San Francisco for a few years, then finally moved to Scotland.

She shaved her head as a teenager just because she was so unbearably hot!

Whereabouts in TN? My daughter lives in Knoxville. We had an earthquake here in maine a couple weeks ago. Unusual to say the least...

lilac, we've bumped into each other on ecf before. Do you remember where?

I am about 35 miles from Knoxville. No, I don't remember, Jewels. Then again, I like to tell people, on a good day I can remember my address AND my phone #. So, pray tell, where did we "bump" before?

Good morning all! Glad you found us over here Lilac. It is most of the same people from the "Older Folks and vaping" thread that hang out here. We are just allowed to do more socializing here than the other thread. I know you used to post over there some.:)

Hi, Tx. Yes, I did post a few times in the thread you mentioned. Nice to see you again.

Hello, People 55 and up. If I may join you...I am 55+ and that's all anyone needs to know about that.

I have been vaping for a year the 26th of this month. I've been through different brands and devices and for now, I have settled on this kit...http://www.sweet-vapes.com/shop?pag..._plus.tpl&product_id=1304&category_id=31...in the pink. After refusing to use manuals, I am now using them exclusively. (Sometimes I can be a little stubborn) shhh

I tried Kanger T3s for the first time this week and I love them. Replaceable coils are great.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Hi lilac, welcome to the room. Congrats on coming up on 1 year of vapin'. In a few days, I'll hit my 1 year mark since I had my last cigarette. I can hardly believe I'm going to make it. TN - had a great family vacation there a number of years back. It was my daugther's turn to pick the 'vacation spot'. She wanted to visit Graceland, so we made a road trip of it - Knoxville, Grande Ole Oprey, Dolly Wood, Memphis, Graceland, and of course Jack Daniels Brewery. Though my favorite town was Buck Snort. I wanted to retire there but Janet said she's not living in town named Buck Snort. The only downside to our time in TN was the weather. That summer it was record temps of days 100+ F, it was hot!

Thanks for your support and prayers. My mom in law absolutely refuses to even look into assisted care facility for my dad in law. For now, it is what it is, and we do what we can to help. I don't know exactly how this will all end, but I respect her decision. It is what it is. This man is the love of her life. He has been her best friend, lover, and confidante all these years.

Tonite, Hubby and I are going to a surprise Bday party for one of his coworkers. I don't know what I was thinking when I said I'd like to go. I've been to these kind of gatherings before, and I kinda feel "out of the loop". They are all postal workers, and they "talk shop" most of the night. I told Hubby he'd better not abandon me, or else... Maybe a couple of glasses of wine will help me feel more like one of the gang...

Would it be possible to have someone come stay at the house during the day or even just for the evening? Then your mom could at least get some rest without having to worry about getting up for him all the time. (Plus, they'd be able to keep an eye on her as well)

Maybe you agreed without thinking to the party because you just wanted to get out and do something different. Doesn't matter, have enough glasses of wine and you won't care who's party you're at!!

Geeze Dance, wish I'd thought of shaving my head when I was a teen and I only lived in Pennsylvania! I'd never make it if I lived in the south! I hated the hot humid weather. As an adult I refuse to live in a house without AC. Of course I don't like the freezing weather either, especially since I got older. Wow, I'm hard to please aren't I?? Scotland huh? Aren't they damp there a lot?

welcome Lilac!! I love the heat and am so not ready for winter. Still 70's and 80's in the day here, but been getting pretty cold at night and I hate it. I'd love to visit Scotland, but like Janet I'm thinkin it gets very damp too, at least in parts. Cold is bad....cold and wet is miserable.

Actually, she shaved her head twice. Right after she did it the second time, she looked in the mirror and said, "I knew there was a reason that I wasn't going to shave my head again!"

Yes, Scotland is damp and cold. But, it's better than the heat. You can always add another layer of clothes.

When I was younger, I always planned to move north. I just never got adventurous enough to actually do it. Now (between having air-conditioning, not having to be in the heat to take buses or whatever, and being older and feeling colder more easily) I no longer need to move north.

I lived without air-conditioning for years. Then, one summer, I decided that I would not ever go another summer without air-conditioning. It was one of those "Gone with the Wind" kind of moments: I will NEVER go another summer without air-conditioning! And, I didn't.

I don't like the cold like I did when I was younger. But, it doesn't really bother me. And, everything sparkles when it's cold!

Just to make you folks from the south fell warm and cozy, it 11 Deg here in Casper, Wyoming at 9:15 tonight with 2 inch's of snow mainly just on the lawn and roof. But I love the winter with no mowing or weeding or trimming trees or bushes or watering and so on. So now its time to relax by the fire and do some vaping. Well its not all relaxing, I now need to do work inside ,with things I have neglected to do when I was doing outside work. LOL

Hi and thanks, Mike. I have never been to Graceland, but we had season tickets to Dollywood for several years when our kids were small.

LOL I didn't realize there WAS a Buck Snort here in TN. Sounds like a good place to visit. Yes, it can get hot here in the summer, but we've also been as low as -24.

Hey there Lilac! Nice to see you've crossed over to the "other" side. We've covered a lot of topics over here as well as vaping and you never know what we'll be into next.

Hi, Janet. I like chatting about different things. I may not know what I'm talking about, but that has never stopped me before. ;)

Thank you, Debadoo. I actually prefer cold over heat. If I could, I would spend summers somewhere in Canada...just go north til I found a cool spot. Thank the Lord for AC.
