I may never eat another gummy bear again, and this is going to be stuck in my head all day tomorrow.

I am there. I still have a bottle of Wild Turkey I have been holding for about 15 years and I need an excuse to open it...

welcome to the thread! As far as I know, no meteorite has ever been shot back into space. But, I imagine if we did, and it fell back to Earth a second time, then we might call it a "re-meteorite". LOL.

about the clay...I haven't checked out the labels in awhile, but it should say "not food safe" I actually had a pretty big table top convection oven for my clay. When the clay is baked it leaves an oily coating of toxic content on your oven,,,,and can contaminate any food baked in it. Any utensils used for the clay should also just be for the clay. There was a point where people were getting sick from sticking their fingers in their mouths to wet them....to smooth out the clay...the manufacturers changed the chemical make-up of the clay because of that....but it's still not safe. Another little warning....be sure and use a timer when baking the clay.....burning polymer clay produces very toxic fumes....it is after all....plastic....and we all know how toxic burning plastic is.

Ah geeze, so much for my new craft! I'm not going to get a separate oven just to bake this stuff. Is there any similar clay that's comparable to the polymer? Or gum paste? I got excited about the polymer since it could be baked in the oven. Does the poly have to be baked or can it be air dried?
just giving you a few little warnings....much like with vaping and batteiries and such....you just need a little info. Nope....doesn't air dry...has to be baked to a certain temp and held there for a period of time to cure. There are some air dry clays...in particular a paper clay that's imported from Europe and Japan....but there is no comparison to polymer....and how you work with them. and they would have to be sanded and painted....just not in the same realm. You don't need a big oven. I worked with much bigger pieces than you probably will. Just find a nice toaster oven on sale or at a thrift store..

Galactic Stone, boy, you are a wealth of info. I don't know that I really want to own a meteorite, but the idea of them is fascinating. I get excited about fossils and Roman columns etc. Actually, even water is interesting. It occurred to me one day that all the water on the earth is the only water that's always been here - it's been everywhere - including inside dinosaurs - just circulating round and round all this time...

You have some real willpower .
And I'll tell you a story .. a few years back, I had a few folks over to the house for a cookout .. I had forgotten something and had to run to the Kroger to get it .. so, I said "Keep an eye on the grill for me, I'll be back in a bit" ..
I got back from the store and a guest came up to me and said "I wanted to make a mixed drink out of RedBull and Bourbon, and I hope you don't mind, but I found a bottle of Jack in your cabinet and used it .."
That bottle of JD was a gift I got from Joe Perry 25 years ago when I did some work on a few of his guitars .. it had a nice layer of dust on the top ..
I said nothing except, I hope you enjoyed it .. I mean, the damage had been done, it could not be undone ..
The upshot to this very day is, everytime I hear the opening bass line to Sweet Emotion I think of that bottle ..

ah Willie - you're such a good host. I'll tell ya what when we finally get together I'll blow the dust off'in this one. I bought it in person when visiting the distillery. I don't think it's even been out of the box. It just hangs out on top of the liquor glass cabinet.
I'm diggin' that, bro .. but, as one JD aficionado to another, that bottle (unopened) and box is worth about $400 clams last I heard ..
Really? Oh no! And we only bought that 1 bottle!!!
If you ever get to Tenn. the JD distillery tour is wonderful! Well, if they're still there. Didn't I hear recently that they were thinking of moving because they're taxes were being raised yet again?
Aw Willie, what a shame you didn't send that guest to Kroger instead of going yourself! When the damage is done though all you can do is dry the tears and remember that at some point in time it belonged to a dinosaur.

OMG! I never thought about a monetary value - that would buy me a nice stash of premium 21 year old Glenlivet.
