It's relatively easy with a little will power Woody. But at the end of the day any stinky avoided is a good stinky, so don't fret :)

I cannot believe that on January 4th of 2010 I smoked my last cigarette and have been vaping ever since. Since I took up vaping and stopped smoking, I have also ran 3 10k's and 3 5k's, before e-cigs, I couldn't even walk a flight of stairs without losing my breath!

That is amazing! .... you go gurl! ;-)

Just want to add my congrats to the list, Paula! That is so totally awesome! For all those naysayers who like to roll their eyes and proclaim 'It's just another fad!' ... you're living proof that it's a way of life!

haha ill not forget it , its like a&e beyond scared straight

First & foremost - Congrats PaulaLynn for hitting your milestone. You're an inspiration to all of us.

Wood - you're half way there - you need to set yourself some easily attainable goals. Like restricting yourself to 4 or 5 stinkies per day - 1 morning, 1 after each meal, 1 before bed - do this for a week or 2. Then cut down to the 3 most important. Then cut it completely. When you hit the 3/per day - the stinkies will taste awful & it will be a crave for your pv. The transition from 3 to 0 takes a day or 2 to fully get over the urges & it's all downhill from there. In my experience of 25 yrs of smoking - it took quiting 3 times & each time I learned from my mistakes. Good luck. You'll get there .

Mike,

You are absolutely right. Many dismiss the following but it is in fact the truth, well at elast what I believe in based on my research...

Although we do not condemn our fellow vapers for the occasional slip or a reduction in stinky intake, it is not until all the stinkies have been removed from the scene can we finally start towards our road to smoking freedom. It is not the nicotine that we crave perse, it is the rest of the s*** that is contained in cigarettes that keeps us hooked, and just like an alcoholic, we just can't take one cigarette because just like one drink, we are off the wagon.

MAOIs is a big one, they have a hold on you up to 12 weeks <---- this is an extremely fragile time for any vaper. Past that point, with a little will power, you are home free. I am a firm believer that every ciggy that is smoked during that time frame resets the 12 week clock <----- this is where folks chose to believe it is bogus. Of all the times I have tried in the past there were certain traps e.g 5 weeks, which was the longest I ever lasted.

In closing I apologize to Paula for derailing this thread, otoh i believe assisting folks in better understanding there addiction may assist them in joining Paula in their success story. Whether you chose vaping as an alternate lifestyle or a cessation method, in the end it does require a certain amount of will power. It is just not as painful as everything else we have tried.

Now that's a milestone! Congrats PaulaLynn! My vape aversary is coming up January 20th, 1 year! But I will admit I have had analogs a few times within the year, I broke down and just went back to old habits, they die so hard! But they are completely dead now! You are an inspiration.
