So I got up this morning and like usual, I sat my phone and other things down on my desk and went to the bathroom with my 510 pv hanging from my mouth. I get to the bathroom, the seat is up (grrr) and looks like the toilet hasnt been flushed since last night. Oh well, I gotta go NOW! So I bend over to put the seat down and....yep, the batt and atty fall off the cart and go into the toilet. I got it out and ran it under some water. Question is...do I clean it and use it or do I toss it? If I could clean it really really good, I dont know if it would bother me or not. What would I clean it with? Battery is still lighting up when the button is pushed. What to do what to do?

Like all electronics I suppose you should wait 24 hours to make sure that all the water fully evaporates before using it. The atty should still be ok once it's dry as a lot of people suggest running it through water to clean it - there are a few threads about cleaning an atty including a mix of white vinegar and baking soda (make a little volcano). I would probably throw the cartridge away though given that it's the cheapest part and the only one you actually put your lips on :)

Are you using manual or automatic batteries? If it's a manual then you're good to go. Just dry it off and give it a try. If it's a manual then you can take a hairdryer to it. Just point it at the threaded connection. You can also put some tissue on the threaded end and put it in a bowl of uncooked rice for a couple of days.

I would put the battery in a bag of rice and leave overnight... Myself personally if it looked like the toilette hadnt been flushed I'd toss it. However if you really need it you could put it in some hot water with a few drops of vinegar, PGa (everclear), or bleach and let it sit over night. If you use the bleach rinse really well and let it air dry all the way before using.

I think if you cleaned the atty with water and then alky or mouth wash to kill the germs and rinse it out again with hot tap water and blow it out and let it set overnight to dry it will be fine. Now if this was a cartomizer forget it and throw it out. If you have another battery to use you might take the one you dunked and put in in a baggy with a cup of Dry (uncooked) rice overnight, This works very well for drying moister out of things, works for Cell phones too sometimes. NOTE-- SORRY-- RedAlert you beat me with your post while I was still typing. At least we think alike. LOL

It was a manual battery. And it still lights up the ash cap when I press the button. The cartridge didnt fall in, just the batt and atty. It came off the cartridge. Thats the only part that was still in my mouth. I'll try the mouthwash or polident to clean the atty. When alls done, I'll smell, if I can smell, its going to hit the trash. AND wont take the pv to the bathroom anymore! lol Lesson Learned!

Another lesson I see here is -- don't hold your PV in your mouth by the cart! I know, I do it sometimes with my drip tips, it is very convenient, but especially if you're using carts (they have little pieces that can eject -- into your mouth, or say, back into your throat...), please don't carry them between your teeth!

I'll third the rice treatment for your battery -- I've saved multiple cell phone batteries and displays by placing them in a bowl of (uncooked!!) rice overnight to dry. But now that you mention it, the bag works muuuuch better. ;)

Best of luck to you, and good luck with the battery.. should be fine!

If the battery still works fine, it was well sealed and should be fine and dry inside. Just disinfect the outside and specially the threads with isopropyl alcohol (70% is best for that purpose).

For the atty, you can also use isopropyl alcohol (again 70% best for disinfecting) and if you would like you can run it through a dishwasher heating cycle to finish the job (like baby bottles). If you do, go for the real thing not the "economy cycle". You can even toss in the mouth piece that fell in when you opened you mouth to swear...;) but NOT THE BATTERY.

I'd disinfect the battery with isopropyl alcohol, but throw out the atty. I know from trying to get e-juice out of those that sometimes, unexpected flavors pop back up for a long time even after a good soaking. I surely wouldn't chance a surprise hit of...other. Attys aren't dirt cheap, but they're not all *that* expensive.

You're not vaping the batt itself, though, so standard sterilization procedures should work for that.

I know money doesn't grow on trees, but I recommend you pitch the whole thing. You can scrub it clean with steel wool, bake it under UV lamps, and soak it in IPA until the cows come home, but every time you bring it to your mouth, something in the back of your mind is going to remind you that this has been in the toilet. A dirty dirty toilet.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to play that scene back in my mind every single time I take a toot.

Look. It's a $10.00-$15.00 battery that's been sitting in a toilet, and got wet (IDK if you said auto or not... but if auto... you suck air through it too).

Sorry people. I have to respectfully disagree with some of the above. The ONLY good advice you could get... trash it. Atty could also be cleaned and soaked in IPA but, again, why?. Semi-expensive lesson learned. I don't want to disregard your budget or anything... but yuck!

I could understand if that happened to a set of nail clippers, or something. But toothbrushes and e-cigs, Nope.

In other news:
.... and it might even get rid of any smell!
ROFL

If I could "like" 1/2 that post, I would. But since I disagreed with the IPA....

P.S. and EDIT:

I see you said manual battery. Well, I'd still trash it. However, even if it seems to work after disinfecting... don't put that battery on the charger and leave the house. Just to be safe. If it does get shorted at all inside..........................bad.

Unless you or someone in your household is sick, urine is mostly water and comes out of the human body sterile. It was then further diluted in the volume of water in the bowl.

I'd only be concerned if you have a 2000 flushes or similar cleaning agent in your tank. Those are extremely caustic substances.
