Went for a road trip on the bike today. I'm typing from Lilooet, BC.
I started in Surrey. I went over the Port Mann and took the #7 all the way out. it was an enjoyable drive. I stopped in Agassis for a banana, some water and a few puffs of the ego t(s). I took a couple pics of my first stop spot. You can see the snowline is pretty low and I am only about 1/3 the way. I ran with this guy on a Harley from just after the turn off from port mann to the turn off to new bridge in maple ridge. we were having some fun and I know I burned the most fuel in this section of the ride lol

Weather held up good. It was cool but not cold. I still had the jacket, pants and helmet air vents open until just before Hope. Oh and I love the windshield now, you should see all the bugs it took out for me lol. It rained a bit twice along the way, the most was along the construction area, of course. I was doing 80 through the 60 zone, and unmarked cop suv radar'd me but just gave me the slow down signal as he went by. he knew I was just trying to blast through the tiny rain pocket. I nodded and slowed...

I stopped in a place called Yale to top the tank, have a break etc... bench was nice

this is getting to the last stretch on hwy 12. this is tight curvy roads with avalanche areas. I had to swerve a few rocks, and there are places it is just one lane for both directions of traffic so you have to keep your eyes on the road and look ahead. this is about 1/3 the way from lytton to lilooet. and I had to do one cameo for the vape heads. and no that the sun is going behind the mountains, it's getting dam cold. the wind in boston bar was crazy and while it was less, I rode in wind for about an hour it seemed.

still, the scenery, smells, animals. I had the camera in the back so only took pics when I was taking a break.

oh ya, I am spending the night. ate home made pizza mmmm stuffed. I am feeling mighty safe right now

Here's Lilooet, at Jame's place, torcherdsoul on the forum. Love the view from here. I watched the fires across the river last year off a webcam from here. was so smokey at times couldn't see the trees outside. Last pick is James and Rocky. A new addition, he's part wolf and a character.

$120 Fine for Vaping In Starbucks by Mikedeason
I got a $120 fine for stealth vaping in Starbucks today. I was sitting with my wife by the window and taking (i thought discreet) hits off my pv when an officer walked up to my table and handed me a ticket. I showed him the PV and told him what it was and all he said was "tell it to the judge"

That was Mikedeason's post of yesterday. Hope he doesn't mind me posting it here. Enjoyed the pics. Too bad you had to travel over 300km just to enjoy your ecig. Enjoy the freedom to vape outside while you can. You may have to travel to Alaska next spring the way things are going. Brings back memories of riding my Triumph 50 years ago back in England. Those were the good old days when we had more freedom. We simply can't sit around and be bullied by HC. If we do it will only get worse. Anxiously waiting for latest developments from Rachel.

And so ends the journey. The last long trip I did was when I moved to Calgary and sold my bike in 1988. This was just a, oh hell let's just go. Talking to James on msn... hey dude, I have a couple routers and stuff to get that going,... I'm coming up, cya tomorrow afternoon. 2 days of sun forecast why not? 648km return

I did have a close call this morning. On the #12 where it narrows to one lane, some idiot coming towards me is just flying I was coming through the single lane and just opened 2 2 lanes and this butthead swerves into my lane to avoid the rocks. this is also area that the road caves and they close this pass... it was a bit too close. I was hard on the brakes and had almost stopped right on the edge (looking down that bank there it's almost straight down a a LONG way down.) gets the heart racing. the driver of the truck beind is shaking his head as he goes by. it's 30kmh through there. he was doing close to 100. obviously never driven that road before... should see the size of some of the "rocks" that fall there... oh and there's mountain goats too. they can hop vertical amazing. they pop on hwy, then leap up the bank other side.

I did have a close call this morning.

It's good that you were on a bike and could pull WAY over!! and could tell us the tale...

We have roads like that on the Prairies but at least we can usually see 'em coming (and of course, I always end up being the one to yield)...so many buttonheads out there think that they can do as they please without thinking of the brake pedal when they can't see ahead....scary...

oh ya. it snakes around the mountain. there's rock shields, grates etc on one side and cliff the other. this road is ancient. lots of frost heaves and such and there's always cave ins. part of the thrill too I guess. the single lane area is about 2-3 km long and you have to slow down. if someone is in the single you need to be going slow enough to stop. nowhwere to go otherwise.

oh well. it was fun. I see the hwy going up to whistler and around pemberton connects to lilooet too. when it warms up I am going to try that route. I've never ridden that hwy. been to pemberton and xyxytclatycl (it's spelled something like that. I had to deliver a truck of stuff to the reserve convenience store). I love to ride and especially in the mountains and long windy roads. I bet I added an hour to my trip taking the route I did, well maybe 40 mins. but why not? well they did just spread fresh steer manure along a 4 km stretch putside agassis. that was hard to take..

I actually smelled cigarattes as I passed this bus loop and shook my head. I think I got another convert to vaping up there though so the trip was a positive one.
