On flavor re-formulations (or is it just me?)...

I just have a few observations about a couple of flavors I've ordered over the course of my vaping career that seem to have been re-forumlated, yet the names remain the same.

#1 French Pipe: One of my first favorites when I started my V4L orders last fall. I really enjoyed it. Within recent months, I've ordered a few more of these carts and the flavor is very different and I no longer care for it.

#2 Clove: What I believe was the "old" clove flavor from maybe 3 or 4 months ago was okay. Noting super special, but decent. Now I've just received a new order and man, do I love this stuff now! It was 'good' before, but now it's 'freaking awesome'.... IMHO.

So I'm just looking to get some other opinions, perhaps about the specific flavors I've mentioned above, or others. Sometimes flavor re-forumulations work in my favor, sometimes not. It's a crapshoot and slightly annoying if one of your fav flavors changes on you.

However, it's probably better to keep the names straight forward, instead of customers getting overwhelmed with the choice of ordering Clove Original, or Revision B, C, D... etc.

This could be one of a couple of things, or a combination of them.

First off, V4L lost their chemist not that long ago and unfortunately he didn't leave the formulas written down anywhere. The new chemist has been scrambling to figure out the old formulas while still supplying juice for stock.

Secondly, our tastes change as time goes on. Your tastebuds rejuvenate after years of punishment from tobacco smoke and it is a slow, ongoing process. I've read of people reporting taste changes many, many months after their last cigarette.

Combine these two and you have a very good reason why so many people constantly chase after the perfect flavors.

Unfortunately, flavor formula changing is the nature of the beast. Every good company out there strives to improve their product constantly. If a specific flavor is good to only 20% of the customer base, then the goal is to improve (sometimes unsuccessfully) the flavor to over 50% of the customer base.

The plus side is that they care and are trying to make things better for everybody. Thank goodness we have many flavors to choose from. The bad side is that if you are in one of the lower percentage groups that like a certain flavor, it'll probably get revamped.

They switched manufacturers. V4L doesn't have a "chemist".

Not exactly true at all... The company that all of our Premium carts liquids comes from did lose their "flavor engineer", and they have had problems since. That is why everything is being brought here to be sampled before going into production. All the Premium Carts (liquid) still come from the same company that we have always used.

Ok - fair enough. Thank you for the correction.

"The Chinese manufacturer lost their "chemist", "flavor engineer", "guy responsible for keeping track of the additives", what-have-you. V4L and everyone else that orders from them has suffered since."

"V4L employs a chemist in much the same way that they own hundreds of thousands of cargo jets and billions of tons of container ships."

More accurate assessment?

We do not employ a chemist at this time. We do, however, create recipes and have them mixed. Leaford created the recipe for banana's foster based on some research into the ingredients (just one example). So to say they we are getting the same liquids as everyone else, I don't really think is fair either.

Just quoting the V4L Grand Pubah, Adrenalynn. :)

Yes I hear ya, I wish I could tell you it is ez, IT IS A PIA, Our primary supplier lost their chemist......WTF, is exactly what I said. Now we are workinh with 4 factories, 4 chemists, and trying to get back our original; flavors. If yo think this is EZ.....it makes me physically, and mentally ill.

V4L is the best there is, and will figure this out, so please, allow is to do so/

Thanks

Steve

Edit: Oops, sorry, due to strange happenings with post updates on the forums for the last few days I didn't realize that TPTB had already commented. Still, it reiterates the frustrations that our favorite supplier is going though to keep us all satisfied, so I'll leave it.
