I got a 5lb Roll of 34AWG Kanthal A-1 right from Kanthal.com good high grade stuff they wont sell retail in small supplies, a friend of mine owns a large heating & AC distributorship and got it for me. Gotta love wrapping your own wicks anymore, it's like having a lifetime supply of goods as long as you have wick and wire

2 wraps = 1.6-1.8 - 3 wraps 1.9-2.2 -
3 - warap 2.4-2.6 4 wraps - 2.7-2.9 are my findings.
The thinner the wire the better for LR Like 36AWG is good for 1.5-1.7ohm because you get more wraps to make the LR Coil up, But I find that 34AWG is a good all around gauge to have and use, although have some of all these gauges 32-36 is really best to have on hand depending on the size of the coil and ohms your working with to make up the best coil.
I also see a couple of different techniques out there for wrapping coils, many I see wrap there coils and keep there warps further apart then I see how the Chinese do it and they wrap there coils very very closely together and tight as a crabs ..., but then again covering more of the wick seems to work good to. This is something I recommend practicing when wrapping your wicks, try wrapping not so tight, then try wrapping them very tight with the coils your working with and see what works best for you. I'm finding I like the tighter wrap, use something like a pair of helping hands tool to hold your wick, then your hands are free to wrap and pull your wraps tighter.
