Most of them cost me $30, less than a decent mech and a decent kick
They have them on the Specials page now for around $35.00, I bought my first back in early 2013 for a much higher price, you bet I've stocked up on them.
I don't beat your 11, I think I'm up to 7.
But that's a darn great deal for a regulated mod.
They really are a good device, and I'm not trying to be a fan girl, I'm just saying for the $ it's good piece of mind for a doomsday mod.

I also have a new REOS for my doomsday stash.
The collapseable spring was what sold me because I was fearful to get a mech.
It's extremely well built, and I would recommend that too if your budget allows.
It's an awesome mod, with an awesome support group if you have concerns or questions.

I'm not knocking anyone's choices, we all have our favorites, and our own budgets that we have to work within.
I'm just adding my :2c:.

If Provape did close down, I'd be willing to bet that there is someone in the company smart enough to buy the remaining inventory and set up shop as a repair only business.

The 2 ProVape guys who work in the repair dept have flipped a coin to see who's gonna take this on ... with no new sales, there won't be enough work for both of them.

A kick does protect against shorts. It will not accept Ω outside of a certain range. And at the low end, that range is far from a dead short. Have you ever heard of anyone sub-ohm-ing with a kick? Of course, I could put fuses in there, too. A kicked mech is a tootle-puffer's delight.

An easier explanation is a Mechanical is no longer a Mechanical when a Kick is installed. It is a Regulated Tube Mod. ;)

I think you totally understood me. I was responding to the idea that if all the kicks died then you still have a mech mod you can vape. That is true but you no longer have any short protection.

The original kick is cheap but has the same basic limitations as a Provari 2.5 in terms of wattage and minimum coil resistance. Making it somewhat a parallel choice against the current pricing of the P2.5.

The Kick 2 is more like a P3 in feature set and I guess that is an interesting competitor to a P2.5 now but I just never paid the extra for that over a P2.5 or researched or attempted to divine the safety and reliability of the Chinese Kick clones. Just to try to clarify my thinking a bit.

I too paid original price for my first 2 Provari's. And I think once you have paid good money for a made in the USA mod that put safety ahead of everything else, it's tough to look at a priced to the lowest bidder Chinese Kick clone plus a $10 mech and consider them effectively identical. They may indeed be just as safe but I have no idea how to confidently arrive at that, so I scarfed up P2.5s when they were cheap.

Eta: yes, I constantly think about a Reo + all the requisite spare parts and bottom feeder.

Yup. I think I will be buying a bunch of fuses. I just got a PIF of three mechs which cannot be kicked in 18650 mode. Why recharge as often as a 18350 in a regulated and carry that much more weight around?

I decided to invest in kicked mechs long before the reasonably priced Provaris became available. And those purchases happened in a long time-frame.

I never thought I would need more than one Provari, my 2012 mini still works fine, but at those prices I added 3 more to my stash :) May pick up a few more.
I just saw the $35 price tag and am tempted. I noticed it needs a battery with a button, and an extension for 18650s, but is there anything else I need to be aware of? Can I pop my subtank mini with a 1.0 ohm build on there and vape happy? Or will I need to build to a higher resistance? I don't see an ohms range on the feature list, just a voltage range.

Thanks for the help all.

Any Mod should be safe at 1 ohm, if its not safe at 1 ohm then it really isnt safe at all.

I *think* my stash-seeking is 99% complete, other than a handful of drip tips and Provi extension rings. I'm highly risk adverse, so had to balance that trait with worry that regulated mods will eventually die and no one will be able to replace the boards. So, I've gathered 5 Provis, 3 Gizmos and 2 Black Oaks w/control heads (better than kicks), and 3 Picos, in addition to 20 atties and 80 years (not a typo) of 100mg. If I have extra dough to blow, I'll pick up more Provis and control heads. I'll have to decide how lucky I feel about nekkid vaping if and when all those regulated mods and control heads fail.

I too bought 2 at the higher pricing, then had picked up my 3rd the beginning of this year, then the others when the deeming regs were released. A couple minis, and a couple 2.5's.
But, beyond the first two, all were at the $34.99 price for the mod.
I had two extension caps purchased with the first. Picked up another extension cap, and an extension ring this past month.

No, you can't go below 1.5ohm (I believe, but double check me on that) it will cut off.
If want to make sure you can run 18650's, then for a mini 2.5V, you need to get an extender ring, and extension end cap.
If you get the Classic 2.5, you need to get the extension cap.
Otherwise just run the recommended battery size for each of the devices.

It's not about safety, it's about whether a Provi will fire at 1ohm. Mine mostly do fire, but some atties will drop in ohms with loose connections. Best to keep builds between 1.1 and 1.3 on Provis.

No worries. You've repeatedly said you don't have one. ;) No way you would have known. :)

Really, I didn't know they'd even fire.

Damn... That would kinda put a Crimp in My vaping style.

Then don't get one.:lol::lol: Problem solved. :D
Vape what you like. That's what it's all about...at least for a little while longer.

Way back when I started, when I wanted more than my Johnson Creek Vea, I wanted/needed something that was idiot proof...something that would override possible "user error" I watched P.Busardo's review of them, and he sold me on it. I had DH watch part of it with me, and his comment was "why wouldn't you get that one", then I sprung the pricing on him.
But, I went for safety back then (Mar. 2013) because it was all so new to me.

I won't sub ohm vape, so I'm good with them. :)

But please EVERYONE, vape what you enjoy, while we can. :nun:
