I started smoking at 22 years-old. Although I only smoked for 11 years, it was the worst thing I've ever done on purpose. And after having my daughter, I knew something needed to change.

I started vaping a little over 3 years ago. I was heavily addicted to cigarettes. On my first e-cig, I stopped smoking analogs for about 3-4 months, but I thought I could still smoke when I was drinking (they go hand-in-hand). And with me being so addicted, I went back to smoking a pack a day.

I hid it from my wife, friends and co-workers. I didn't want people to be ashamed of me. It was a lot of work to hide that from everyone, but for months, I had a rigorous routine of masking it from people. Finally, I told my wife the truth (AKA she found out) and agreed (again) to only smoke when I was drinking. This led me to drink more and more, just so I could smoke. She thought I was becoming an alcoholic, but I didn't care about the beer one bit. I just wanted to smoke!

After months of this building up, the waking up not being able to breathe good, coughing more and more, I decided to go back to the one thing that actually worked - e-cigs. I was dedicated this time. I also knew that the common denominator, alcohol, also had to go. As I waited for my new e-cig in the mail, I had my final weekend of "fun". I got drunk, probably smoked a pack or two, and even woke up with a terribly scratchy throat to prove said fun was had.

Now, a year and a half later, I haven't even thought about smoking. Not once. I tried every thing I possibly could to quit smoking before finding out about e-cigs, and nothing worked. They only made me smoke more. Without electronic cigarettes, I would still be battling this horrible addiction, and most likely end up at it's mercy.

I didn't do this for fun, or to experiment with some new "toy". I did this for me, my wife, and our beautiful daughter. I did this so I could live.

Thanks for reading.
