Hi there, I've been vaping for few months,
I am wondering why would people use expensive mods which doesn't have VV/VW control?
( like the Hammer by Kato / Deus mod )
Is it just because of the look?
If they don't have a screen, how can we know the battery life and how can we control the VV/VW?
Thanks!

Those are pretty much "Mecanical Mods".

After you have a good understanding of batteries and also coil building, it is just another avenue to vape away !! You can match your batteries to your coil and it can be a very great vape, but your battery power will get lower and lower as you vape, and every few vapes are different than the few from a few minutes before.

Its not really that simple, but thats the jist of it.

Most folks dont need to be doing this......until they really understand how and why its done.

EDIT: To answer you question.....Bigger clouds and (sometimes) better taste.

For some, vaping products become a hobby... then a passion, and even an obsession. And like most hobbies, those who become deeply involved, tend to gravitate towards the unique, exclusive and more complicated aspects of being vapistas. In the vaping world, the products that meet those unique prerequisites are mech mods, RDAs and RBAs.

By way of knowledge, practice and skill - we have hands-on control over the vaping experience. There are those who like automatic transmissions... and those who like to shift for themselves.
Is it "better"? Ultimately, it may be a wash - but for those who take pleasure in wrapping coils, creating perfect wicking and attaining zero voltage drops - it sure is entertaining... and it provides a source of satisfaction not associated with "set and forget" APVs and disposable atomizers.

Unless you really know what you're doing... you can't. I use mechanical Rollers and a Reo Grand, I know how to build my coils to match the voltage to get the wattage I want. An 18650 batt in my Reo will give me the vape I want for most of a day. I do like the led readouts of my regulated devices but I also enjoy the vape of my mechs. I like the look of my Rollers (and the button)

Thanks!

It's taken me several years to get to the point where I can use mechs along with rebuildables and be able to have total control over the vape that I get. How do I know my batt life? I pretty much know how long the batt has been in the mod and I can also tell by the vape. I rarely look at the batt life I have left in my provari's... If I leave the house, I usually just put in a fresh batt. I can control the wattage I get from my mechs by knowing what resistance to build my coils. I've just started using a kick 2 in my Rollers but I don't really need it (but it's nice LOL)

edit... this is a really great question btw :)
