Chuck (known as Chucklehead in my neighborhood) is on the news quite frequently in NY. His press is almost always some sort of regulation push immediately following some tragedy or product failure. "Save the children" is his favorite headline. That is followed very closely by "We have to do something for the public good".

I wish at times like this I was rich so I could make commercials for TV just to piss off the ANTZ. It'd go like, a bunch of vape shop owners are on camera and an interviewer asks "so how many sugary cereal e-liquids have you sold since you opened?" "Four thousand six hundred ninety nine, I think." "And how many of them were sold to children?" "Uhhh... none." Cut to some politician sitting in some fancy bar. "You expect me to believe that?" And then the bartender comes out saying "here's you marshmallow vodka, sir."

Then we go back to a bunch of happy vapers explaining all the health benefits and finally the commercial cuts back to the politician. There are 14 empty shot glasses on the counter in front of him. He slurs out "but what about the children?" then gets in his car to drive.

I've voted against him in every single election in NYS for the past 35 years.
I'll be blunt: He's a socialist ideologue who opposes any sort of Constitutional restraint of government, or any form of individual freedom. Reid was content with the power, money, and status. Schumer wants to change the world.
The question now is, how much support will he have.

When I hear his voice on the radio I have this Pavlovian urge to head to the bathroom and sit down. I must be a 'sympathetic pooper" or something.

I've lost my "like" button for some reason so; "likes" to all of you!
Kent, I'm not sure many people around me know about the voluntary blackout thing, but I'll turn all the lights on just to see who runs over with a fire extinguisher. :)

:thumb: Sometimes you need to refresh to get the 'likes' esp. if you just posted.... :)

Gotcha!

We had a statewide shoot-your-guns evening a while back to protest the draconian laws that we're forced to live with here. I had a full-out party because I have a safe shooting range behind my house and we had a ball. It was something to hear. Thousands of gunshots for an hour or so across the countryside, then silence at 9:00PM, the official cutoff time. A pretty clear message was sent, if not directly to the politicians and bureaucrats, at least to the gun owners within earshot. We were one voice.

The blackout has gotten some media coverage over here. The irony is that - since we're based on hydroelectricity - it's mainly a question of piping water through turbines or auxiliary passthroughs. One could say the countries we export power to can import less... but then again... Would a nuclear power plant power down for an hour? Not possible. Would a coal plant let their heaters cool for an hour? Not very eco-friendly to heat them back up.

... at least people get to feel good about themselves for an hour... before it's forgotten again tomorrow.

For a really nice blackout, you could start with everybody turning their lights and appliances ON.

The two top favorite arguments of those that are in a mad rush to rip away your freedoms.

That made me think of this:

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.

One of the most used comparisons on this forum...
And for good reason.

That is better than incredible, I read it to Mrs OCD and The Offspring and The Offspring came up with what I think is a great idea.

Crowdfund that sucker and lets see it on TV. Flesh out the storyline and bring in as many elements as possible for a 30 second spot and see if the $s can be raised to produce it and air it.
