I was going to post this in the New Members Forum, but apparently I can't post there any more... I thought it would be good for new members to hear a success story of sorts and maybe absorb some of what got me here, both good and bad. Oh well, I hope they venture out of the New Members area.
I was what they call and "Accidental Quitter." I thought I'd give vaping a try since nothing else worked and my doctor (bless his heart) suggested it. Once I started a year ago, I thought it would wind up like every other effort at quitting and I'd wind up smoking again in a week or so. I even fooled myself and I still haven't opened a pack out of the carton I bought the week I started vaping. So, things I've learned. You may agree or disagree, but this is some of what I've learned along the way:
1) Research equipment and ask questions here. There is an abundance of good will and help available here.
2) YouTube is your friend. A lot of good "How To's" there.
3) Buy quality equipment and include backup tanks and e-cigs in case of failure of one or the other.
4) Keep the technology of what you buy in line with your interest and capabilities.
5) Try out different e-juices at you local Brick & Mortar store, and buy several to try.
6) Buy high enough nicotine content to satisfy your cravings & so you don't have to chain vape to do so.
7) Understand whether or not you are at your "bottom" with cigarettes.
8) If you think you are spending a lot of money when starting out, remind yourself what a carton of cigarettes cost.
9) Keep trying until you get it right in accordance with your comfort level with the process.
10) Don't burden yourself with goals.
That's good enough for now. I'm sure I'll have more if I make it to year two. (See what I did there?) Thank you all for your wisdom and humor and patience.
