So my Vamo arrived today, along with a couple of Panasonic CGR18650CH batteries from ebay, but..........

I have no charger:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

So as I was snooping around, I found this:

Lavatube The V-Unit Starter Kit

So it comes with a TrustFire charger, a couple of generic 18650 batteries, 5 cartomizers and a carrying case. I figure that stuff alone has to be worth 20-25 bucks, leaving me with a VV mod at about 20-25 bucks. Since I need a charger, could always use a couple extra batteries, and will use the cartomizers, this kit seems like a pretty good option. But only if the V-Unit isn't a total piece of schnidt. I did a very quick search on this, and the only real negative I could find is it doesn't like dual coils. I can work around that.

So, is this unit worth 20-25 bucks? Would you buy one as a cheap extra/back-up unit?

Thanks,

Clyde

I'd probably just buy a charger separately. The batteries are of indeterminable quality so I'd probably not use them.

You can get a trustfire for like 10-12 bucks. Or alternatively you can invest in a better charger like a nitcore, pila, xtar etc.

I wouldn't use the case and I like specific cartos.

Just my opinion though.

Can't go wrong with a $20-$25 backup pv like a lavatube really ... I mean you'll pay that for a Twist or Spinner.

You can buy a charger for as little as $5 (that trust fire can be found for $10) and those specific batteries can be found for $4-$6 a piece. So it really comes down to you. I personally chose a mechanical mod as my backup pv for 18650s but I also use genesis attys and rebuildables.

Overall that's not a horrible price id say ...

Mechanical mod, huh? That is an area I've yet to explore in my research. I'll have to look for some good threads discussing them.

Well ... I paid $24 for my CCTS so it was too cheap to ignore. However like I said ... I use genesis and rebuilables that allow me to take more advantage of a standard voltage device. If I was using cartos or normal atomizers Id probably need a kick which is $45 alone. At that point you might as well buy a spare Vamo or other regulated device unless you plan to collect multiple mechanical mods to use with that kick.

I liked the idea of a mechanical mod however because there is less that can go wrong with it over time. That alone makes it a nice backup pv incase something happens to your main. But that doesn't mean a regulated electronic device won't be a great backup either.

To tell ya the truth ... my CCTS with the AGA-T+ atomizer has been all I've used since yesterday but that's basically due to it being my new toy. ;) My Vamo with the AGA-T+ is just freakishly big. lol
