So, I'll continue to use WL NIC selectively but use it as a flavoring ingredient, sort of like DNB. However, its great to have the option to omit that from many (most?) my recipes.
I've thought the same. I've never tried any of the Inawera bases, but I do think of WL nic as adding the sort of dirty/harsh touch that I imagine DNB does.
I rarely like tobacco vapes. Mine are coffees, desserts, sweet and creamy stuff, some fruits. All of those have benefited enormously from VT nic. Flavors are clearer, first of all. That was most obvious to me with fruit flavors. Flavors I never thought of as creamy are now, like FlavourArt's vanillas. Flavors that are supposed to be sweet taste sweeter.
Overall, I don't need as much flavoring in my old recipes, which were designed for WL-type nic base. However I'm not dropping the flavoring very often, because the smoother, clearer flavors are so enjoyable. I experimented and found I can (if I want) go even higher with flavoring percentages than before. Not that I like such strong flavoring, but I don't get the weird flavor changes that too much flavoring can impart - until I go beyond the old limits. So - getting tasty mixes with less flavoring OR more than before - that makes DIY easier, less prone to error.
I have yet to pour any experiment with VT nic down the drain. Even the not-so-good mixes I come up can be doctored into something pretty good now. Granted, I have quite a bit of mixing experience now, but even a couple weeks ago, I was stashing the occasional horrible mix I made with WL nic, somewhere I'd never have to see it again.
