Hey guys - I've been a reo guy for a looong time - I a newbie in a lot of ways because when I got my reo 3 years ago I left the rooms - bought my cartos from china and splurged on my favorite juices. Lol

Anyways I hopped back on the forums recently and purchased couple more reos and rm2s. I then realized ummm that I need an ohm reader!!!! That excel chart is awesome and kept me safe so far but it's time for ohm reader

After doing some research I made the decision to grab one of those MVP I taste vv/vw pvs for 35 bucks - it has built in ohm reader, battery back up for cell phone, and vv (even though I have no idea what topper gonna use since I'm so use to using a reo. Badly wanna try a kayfun clone for one vape lol just cause of the buzz). Anyways,

But then I just realized does anyone think this ohm reader will be accurate ? Would it take in effect the internal resistance of the MVP machine as well as the build and spit out a ohm reading for that ? Or do ya think it will subtract out the internal resistance of the machine and give me an accurate ohm reading of my build -

The main priority of the purchase was for my reo builds (screwing on my rbas to it) - reos are all I own - but the multipurpose functions attracted me - anyone's guesses or inputs on the accuracy of it as an ohm reader will help...if it's not accurate I will just sell it -

Thx much

I checked a MVP with a Fluke 187 and it was pretty well spot on, but it only has accuracy to one decimal point - as Wickedduece says maybe not too good for sub-ohming. The good thing with MVP (or whatever mod) is you can put the cap and driptip on and fire it and make sure its all OK before fitting to the Reo. A hard short will collapse the Reo's spring, but on the MVP it just refuses to fire from memory.

Thx guys - you rock - all i want is one vape on a kayfun clone on the mvp and ill be good and Back to my reos -

I love learning about the physics involved and trying new builds as a hobby for e cigs/reo but i must say on some days its a pain in the ...------might have to go old school and buy some good cartomizers or 306 atty. Nothing like screwing one of those puppies on your Reo with your favorite juice !
.

This info helped me alot. Thx much !

Your MVP is fine. It's not going to be as accurate for Sub-ohm, where .05Ω really can make a pretty big difference.

These are great because they also make a really nice "deck/holder" to screw your RDA into while mounting coils.

510 Ohm Meter Model 2 - Kidney Puncher

These are a steal at $6 from Harbor Freight.

They do need to be calibrated though. (small pot on the inside.) It's a good idea to own a multi-meter anyways... You can measure other things like your batteries, voltage drop of your Reo, not to mention it's just a good tool to have at your disposal in any home tool kit, even if it sat around only to get used once every decade (it won't, your an e-cig user.)

I purchased a ohm meter about 2 weeks ago when I started using cotton to build my coils instead of silica for my RDA's. Before I was using my Provari. As you probably know already the Provari fires when it reads out so that means bye bye cotton. Hehehe! I'd been putting it off even though I couldn't make my builds too low for risk of not being able to get a reading on the Provari at all. I don't like to build any coils for my mechs without getting a proper reading. I think you'll be absolutely fine. My readings have been much like RattlerX's post! Plus you get a new toy to vape on, though I'm sure it probably won't compare to the vape on your Reos.

Yes on the multi meter !!!! I was gonna get the ohm multimeter combo for 25 - i had the only 2 reos i own both break on me at the same time (long story) and had nothing so mvp was in my head to get as emergency etc. . Still have no way to use it. I go thru 3 fill ups on my reo somedays. Will never switch out of reo land-- great advice "funk" and links !

I forgot about harbor freight - use to use them years ago! Thx for reminding me of them. They ship from china or usa. ?

You sparked something in my head "chimney" - should i do an ohm check with the cotton threaded thru and wet from ejuice or do a reading with just the coil ?
FWIW....I always measure my coil builds BOTH ways....occasionally, depending on juice type/wicking I find resistance SLIGHTLY LOWER with a "naked" coil....YMMV.....
Happy (vaping) Trails!
