Ordered my first clearo (MPT2)...tips/tricks/mods?

Hey guys,

So, I've been running a SmokTech eGo battery with their mega dual coil cartomizer and have been loving it so far. I wanted to try out clearomizers and finally settled on the Kanger Mini Protank 2. I couldn't be more excited.

With that said, does anyone have any tips/tricks or recommended modifications that I do when I first get it? I don't want to jump right in to rebuilding it just yet so I'm looking for mods that are a bit simpler. Two that I've heard of are flipping the o-ring and wrapping cotton around a part of the unit. Could anyone provide more information about wrapping the cotton around the unit? Haven't been able to find too much information that specific mod.

Anything else I should know that you guys can think of? I've heard to make sure to drag it without giving it any power when I first get it so that I don't vape a dry wick. Other general information I should know before I start vaping with it?

I have not read of any modifications required with the newer Kanger Pro Tanks.....

The only thing I would suggest, clean and soak all the parts in vodka and let it dry before using.
Just a step I use on all my new tanks,
less chance of "manufacturing residue" in the juice taste.

Okay, thanks. If anyone has any information about the cotton mod I'd love to hear it.

Another quick question, I have a fixed voltage battery at the moment. How necessary is a VV battery? I've heard some people say it's not really necessary for the MPT2 and other people say it's a necessity.

A great trick I tried and had great success with is flipping the little rubber ring on the coil up side down. Put a stop to the burnt taste sometimes associated with the ProTanks. Pic for reference. Some uses say they have had gurgling issues with that trick, but I haven't encountered it yet.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but I've been reading abit about cleaning with vodka at in a few threads now. I'm having a hard time finding why vodka/PGV should be used. Can I use rubbing alcohol or isopropyl or similar instead, and if so is it as good?
